  • 1:00 the half life shoundtrack

  • i wish every other Russian speaking videos had English subtitles like this one. They would be much more interesting to watch.

  • I think its the other way around, the Walther PP is far more ergonomic than the Mak, but the makarov is a bit simpler with fewer parts.

  • @luuko656 It's more robust too I think.

  • and the makarov is still in service today

  • Thanks for putting this up with english subtitles, This show looks great. I'd buy this whole series on dvd if they sold it dubbed or subtitled. Makarov is my favorite pistol, I now have 2 and I even like it more than my 1911 and my CZ75 P01 even. I can take the whole Makarov apart and put it together no problem.

  • At 2:03 - 2:14, I am really surprised that there is no mention that the 9 x 18 mm Makarov was developed to prevent NATO soldiers (which used 9 x 19 mm Parabellum) from using captured Makarov PMs in the event of a war.

How is it possible for the 9 mm Makarov bullet to have the same stopping power as the 7.62 mm Tokarev bullet and have less recoil than the 7.62 mm Tokarev bullet when it is a larger round (meaning more power but more recoil)?

  • @ace5566 I don't know about the first part of your message.

    -

"(meaning more power but more recoil)" - Videos says "same power - less recoil". Well, it can be done with successful design, mechanisms, materials. After all gunsmitsh in Tula are traditionally among the best in the World.

Do you remember confrontation from Cold War Era with 5.56 vs 7.62 rounds? Or accuracy vs power in other words... Well in last 20 years both parts work toward to solve problem of power or accuracy respectively...

  • @BitnikGr The first part of my comment means the 9 mm Makarov was developed for technological simplification when the actual reason is to prevent NATO soldiers (which used 9 x 19 mm Parabellum) from using captured Makarov PMs in the event of a war.

  • @ace5566 I've got what you wanted to say, I meant that I have no info about it :)))

  • @BitnikGr The PM was the only exception from those Communists armory that will stay inside my desk. I rather looks nice.

  • @1stMarineCapt Yeah I really dont like communism but they did have some great weapons. The Mosin Nagant M44 bolt action rifle,Nagant M1895 revolver and the makarov PM those are guns i'd like to have.

  • @jma25able1 I may never touch TT-33, AK, Mosin or anything, but a PM would definitely be in my aim!

  • @1stMarineCapt Ok your choice man.

  • @jma25able1 Makarov PM fits nice under my driving seat. My '43 vintage 1911 ain't fit any where but my holster though...

  • @BitnikGr Is there any Voenno Delo about the M1911 pistol? The M1911 pistol is good enough to be spoken about, too.

  • @1stMarineCapt I have translated Voennoe Delo episode about Brawning pistlos. I don't remember if M1911 is mentioned there. M1911 is a Colt company product, despite it was designed by Brawning.

  • @BitnikGr Well yeah but in that episode they didn't mention the gun though.

  • @ace5566 ... without loosing a benefit of accuracy and power respectively. Germans/Americans managed to give to modern 5.56 rounds more stopping power than M-16 had, without loosing accuracy. Russians managed to make AK-101-105, AN-94 Abakan much more accurate without loosing benefits of 7.62 round.

With know-how and modern technologies everything is possible.

  • @BitnikGr Well yeah with the 20 inches barrel the 5.56mm NATO really raped the Talibans, but the M4/M4A1 feels like tickle.

  • 6:00

Is that the Duke Nukem theme

  • @Treblaine It's from Quake 2 =) you can put the Quake 2 game cd in a regular cd player and play all the music by just advancing to track 2 and onwards. Not sure if newer games let you do that or if you'd have to hunt around in game files and do a disc burn.

  • nice translation, thanks! oh, and the guy looks like someone from mafia 2, doesnt he?

  • @1993heavenshallburn I don't know... never played Mafia or Mafia II :)

However many ppl watching this video saw some security flaws while he handles the gun.

    You are welcome! :)

  • @BitnikGr i havent played it, either. but he kind of looks like that with his gun in hand and his leather coat...xD

  • @1993heavenshallburn

Later on he looks like more like Max Payne from the first game of the series :D

Another cool video Bitnik, thanks for uploading! One quick question - do you know of how common the Makarov's successor, the Yargin PYa/Grach pistol is?

  • @PanzerRatten yeah right xD

  • @PanzerRatten No, I don't have any idea about it :)

  • Good job on the subtitles. The Makarov is a great pistol.

  • good episode bring in more waiting for them impatiently, thxs

  • Interesting facts about PM:

    1) Makarov pistol was included in every inventory pack of kosmonavts on space missiles "Vostok". That means that it was the very first weapon being in space.

    2) A scenario of film "Makarov" is around one PM. The pistol became even some kind of film actor.

    3) At least till 2004 in security of Goverment Company "Instrument Design Bureau" was listed a working example of PM made in 1949 with serial number 11... and it had fired around 50.000 rounds!
