  • Spending four hours to find and build that structure defeats the purpose.

  • @forexpipz If you really needed a quick shelter and did not care about cutting down living trees, I think it could be done much faster.

  • At 4:10 something is wandering around in the trees behind the hammock. Pet dog?

  • @NONAMESLEFTNONE Oh .. I want to say wolf ... but no its our pet dog.

  • Thumbs up if you saw the wolf/dog in the background at 4:10 to 4:18

  • Great idea! That Michael Barton is just full of questions (and answers too)!

  • @canesser1 He has taught me more than just a few things.

  • @EconoChallenge One of our best! Appreciate your innovations, made a couple of your camp chairs last summer and they work great. Had some old potato sacks around and they did the trick. Keep up the great work.

  • @canesser1 The sac chair idea is all WEZO. Although we did promote coffee sacs for a bit. The nylon version with the two sleeves sewn in the top and bottom ... now that is all ours! Can't take credit for the sac idea. They do work great though. Been a part of the Econo Challenge trip ever since!

  • @EconoChallenge Never saw WEZO's vids but saw your nylon version and, since all I had was . . . actually they are large bird seed sacks, not potato sacks . . . I made due with them. Need to find a good Canadian supplier of sil nylon, any suggestions while we're at it? I sure like your woodland camo chair.

  • @canesser1 Fabricland. I am sure you have one out your way. Oh wait you said good. Yup ... Fabricland ... thats all I got. LOL. The camo is polyester. Much more difficult to work with and ... its heavier than the nylon. Anyone over 200 lbs should probably go with the camo. We are making up a few to put in the store this summer. Every once in a while we get a request so now we can deliver.

  • @EconoChallenge Fabricland, yes! I think there's one in Winnipeg. Will keep an eye on your store, as I'm sure you have the sewing technique down pat. Yes, polyester for my 6'1" 215 lb frame :-)) Waaaaiiit a minute . . . you meant WEZO24522164's channel? I do remember that permanent shelter he made now, with camp chair and camp cot. Doh! Good memory, just short lol. But I swear you were the inspiration for the camp chair, ha!

  • Looks good, and quite a few places to hang stuff on the tripod tips :)

Good song, and good video :)

  • @ez2curanut Thank you. Kevin has a gift.

  • Haha! The beginning was funny. Use your feet to measure :o) Did you tie on the ridge pole? If not, it seems you could go with out it and let the tripods do the work alone :o) No? This is a good idea for tundra camping :o)

  • @Ggreenvideos I should not tell you this in the comments cause it might not help my "image" whatever that is .. but did try it first without the ridgepole. I did not even get to put any weight on the hammock and the tripods started to slide toward me. Thus the ridgepole was added to make this possible. The tree straps are attached to the ridgepole itself. That is supported by the tripods with no lashing. That way you can move it like in the video. Tundra camping in my dreams.

  • @EconoChallenge Well that's cool bro. I didn't pick up that you were strapped to the ridgepole...hehe ;o) Whatever works eh ;o) Image? We have an image?...haha! I better check for mine...haha!

  • Good setup Jeep. The music for the rebuild portion of the tripod setup was perfect…

  • @Woodenarrows Thanks Jim.

  • Sweet! Great job!

  • hey Jeep awesome...just got in from up north......gonna send that package out tomorrow morn....nice work on the vid....we talked about that when we built ours...we were wondering the same thing,lol...nice work.....super application for beach hanging...in or or out of the water.....lol....aliitle different than Shug...this one will be" fishing from the hammock",lol.

  • @sousaville Glad you are back safe.

  • @EconoChallenge we kept it mellow...small hikes...one low peak...but a very good time.

  • YES WE CAN!!!

    Take care

  • Very versatile set-up you got there Jeep. The music was priceless as well.

    Nate

  • @CdnLifeguard71 Kevin has some really good pieces that sometimes just lend themselves perfectly to a bit of video. I wonder if he likes what we do with his music?

  • Great Job Thanks!

  • Great video friend. Entertaining as always, looks like it was a nice day out. I could not see the way that you had the hammock ends attached to your tri pods. Can you please explain how they are attached. And has there been any new news on your brothers property? As always thanks for sharing your wonderful video's.

  • @69Grunden The video you are looking for is called "Tree Friendly Suspension System" and you can find a easy link in the info below the video. I used the very same to attach the hammock to the ridgepole. Dougie World is still officially closed. The local property owners have not all completely agreed to allow access, but they also have not made an effort to keep us out. It seems to be a quiet truce. We are easy to get along with and I think they will discover that over time. ;-)

  • There you go :) Thanks Jeep....Appreciate the effort.

  • @bushcraftbartons Thanks Mike. Just given a little back. I have learned many things from you.

  • I could use that rig to sleep on the beach Hunting Island SC with my Hennessey hammock. Instead of going into the tree-line. Thanks

  • @pappyhighlife Don't forget those mosquitoes. I have wanted to get into the open for that reason alone!

  • Make your tripods of longer logs and hang that puppy up over your amazing cot. Bunk bed!

  • @ETHIOLOGIST1 Ah man ... that is another idea that has to go on the list. Very good suggestion.

  • I was thinking the same question when I saw your first video, now it is answered. Similar to turtlelady stand

  • @dragonflyhiker Can you PM me a link. I could not find it.

  • @EconoChallenge sent Jeep :)

  • @Bustertb I have been a few places where the forest is far too young to support a hammock hung in the usual way. This would have been perfect for those places. Back then I was camping on the ground.

  • Nice set up Man. Thanks for sharing.

  • We had faith in you jeep ;- )

  • @medicjimr Hey Jim ... don't kid yourself. This kind of thing happens all the time off camera. We just cut it out or don't shoot it until we get it right. I thought I would leave the camera running and try keeping it real. Thanks again Jim.

  • What hammock is that? A very nice solution, I'm a bit surprsied that it actually worked. Cheers//Simon

  • @smeden91 I do not recommend the hammock. It is one of my DIY projects. Basically a Brazilian style hammock with a bug screen added. I built it to find out if I liked hammock camping. Still not decided! Perhaps a better hammock would help me decide.

  • Bushcraft evolution is moving fast these days, thanks for "thinking outside of the bush."

  • @snappa222 Its a YouTube thing. Many minds working on the same ideas and they just keep getting better and better. We already have a list of ideas for our channel and it just keeps getting longer.

  • cool

  • Cool, great setup! Thanks for showing. All the best, Sepp

  • Welll...im thinking its a dog.... *could be a wolf*..... (That would be cool)

  • @RDPproject It is a dog. My sisters dog. He is over 55 kg and will give the coyotes in the area a run. He would rather hunt than be in videos! Good eye mate!

  • @EconoChallenge

    Yeah...it did look kinda beefy.

Did you get my email re: Mike?

  • I bet the first nations people never had that problem.....LOL

    lol.....excellent. Well done video Jeep.

    Ummm....Is that your dog?...at 4:09

(just under the left end where the blue of the hammock stops)

  • I'm building one of these at my site this season - it truly is amazing - thanks Jeep! Kevin's song really had you pegged - haha!

  • @wawhiker I had that song sitting waiting for the perfect bit of video. It made me chuckle. I would love to see what you do with this shelter idea. Let me know if you need anything.

  • Thanks for all the videos, I got caught up in all your links that I was not making comments. Suffice it to say they were enjoyable and informative and I liked them all. Thanks. PS Introduce the kids if you don't mind. ;-JJD

  • @USMC65UH34D Wow. Thank you. This is what keeps us going.

  • I enjoyed that, as always .. thanks for sharing
