@SaintLizard yeah that was funny; clearly the execs didn't know the song. U-Mass was never a single, and I have always believed that Black Francis chose this song as a deliberate "fuck you" to MTV. He hated Dave Kendall because when they released the "Velouria" video, Kendall said, on air, that it stunk. (In fairness to Dave, I thought the video sucked too; 3 minutes of a continuous slow-motion shot?) But the fact is, Black Francis was very aloof back then. I still worshiped him, though :)
