Well, not accurate. There were almost 30 plots to kill Hitler, starting as early as 1921. They all failed because of treason, technical problems, bad luck and wrong decisions. The best chance of succeeding was probably in 1938, but the conspirators didn't carry out their plan, because England and France didn't back up Czechoslovakia. They felt that killing Hitler now would lead to civil war, since he gained so much for Germany without going to war.

So after he killed himself so the russians couldn't capture him he asked all his Generals and staff etc. to kill themselvs before Germany surrendred. Some did, some didn't.
