@Leechinfen Excellent! You seem to understand the main point: We cannot get to that "central place" with effort. It must be completely natural, so the mind can settle down to silence.
i m in my third week of using TM and its really helped me so far. MEditation has become a daily treat I indulge in.. Once you begin to enjoy meditation it isnt something you are forced to do like a diet of new exercise routine. Its a great way to start and restart my day. Its not for everyone but I love it.. Wish success to all
different ppl see things different dependent of they own state of mind and body , aruing is a vaste of time with anyone! Merry christmass and happy new year TM is the best there is (was or will be) no 1 like Maharihi Mahesh Yogi
It really is a natural technique. I tried controlling the mind once in order to gain some kind of peace within, but it didn't work. TM takes you so deep. Sometimes I wish I could stay in that self-referral state forever.
I can see this ancient science of consciousness becoming hugely popular amongst many physicists in the scientific community. I mean, here's a technique that verifies the existence of the Unified Field on a personal level. Awesome!
It is always amazing to me that is was possible to discover this natural tendency of the mind, and this natural TM technique to dive within, contact the source of thought and draw from the treasures and richness of this inner resource.
i find this very interesting. i am a martial artist. note i did not say a fighter. lately, i have realized the limitless power of the mind. its endless, its anything you want it to be. there is a concept my teacher taught me and i realized its universal application, and its the concept of feeling, not trying. let the energy flow, true power and strength, physical or mental cannot be attained unless the mind is at peace. however i am just learning this. then u just do, instead of think. im 17.
How do you do it though? It seems like the idea of not concentrating is self-defeating, because you would be concentrating on the act of not concentrating.
You got the main point! That's why you need a trained teacher who can guide you in your first meditation, and then answer any questions after that. You cannot transcend by learning it from a book or trying it yourself, because that keeps the mind active and it can't settle down. With a teacher taking you through the process step by step, your mind can relax and then you can transcend to a state of pure consciousness, without thought.
I'm very interested in learning TM and it seems like it could be of great value to ones life on one-hand but on the other it seems like it could just be another one of those scams that so many people buy into. Like I said I'm interested in learning the "technique" but, the price of $1500-$750 seems too expensive for most people in these economically hard times. If TM is to help people become better human beings so we can all come together and help the world, why is it so expensive to learn this?
Basically, the money goes to pay for TM centers and modest salaries for TM teachers. TM is a non-profit organization, so nobody is making money from it. Once you learn, you can go to any TM center anywhere if you have a question, plus there are lectures for meditators that are always free. Also, some of the fees from the US help support TM programs in countries where the people are really hard up, in Africa and South America for example.
I know more than one person who own a non-profit corporation. They started them for profit. Instead of deleting this so people see that you did so, fix the way you just told a white lie...
There's no lie, white or otherwise. It's a non-profit organization. Nobody is making a profit from it. Yes, some people teach TM full-time, but it's a very modest income.
To say you know more than another person, is the mere reflection of the ego. So I doubt you know what you're talking about. Second if its "Non-profit" their not making money, so they can't start it for money. Also if they do ask for money its going to countries that need it.
@hotfudgemoney Money is not just worthless but a tool to weaken and enslave you, so u could say it has great value to some lol.... anyways what happened to barter, ill trade u all this food for your gun, kk now i got ur gun gimme ur food. someones gotta be able to come up whith a system that promotes fairness above all!!!
If you cant learn by trying it yourself then how did the first person do it??? They obviously didnt have a teacher and if you say that the God told them how to do it then this is just as insane as the burning bush. Your comment sounds more like a sales pitch for your school instead of an honest answer and i find it very sketchy coming from the "enlightened" ones.
Really good question. TM is a technology for experiencing the Self and expanding consciousness. And just like any other technology, it probably developed over time. 40 years ago,we were using punch cards on huge mainframe computers. Now my laptop can do things instantly that those huge computers couldn't do in years. Same thing with TM -- it was developed over time and has been carefully handed down for ages. And there's an advantage to using well-developed technology that we know really works.
I don't think it really matters where it came from, or how it might of developed. If something produces great results for an individual as well as for others, then that's great....
In a transcendental experience, one could come into contact with the divine. The first person to find this out was obviously not a novice, but a skilled meditation practitioner. The reason why they say "One should learn it from someone." is because it would be easier to get taught specifically how to do it. As for "Sales pitch", I doubt they make you pay money to learn meditation. One could learn it one their own, but most would try to look up on it first though.
This is the glory of my life. Determined to achieve the most valuable meaningful thing before i deteriorate...Full consciousness!

Transcendental Meditation is so simple that I am amazed at how it can bring so many benefits!...
But then again it is always the simplest things that stand the test of time.
