Sadly, I couldn't find anything else in time. That is why I sad "Ideally use compost". Don't use the only thing I could ind at our ghetto hardware store:) Now I am starting my compost, so soon enough I'll have the good stuff.

i have questions about compost:

can you just use an empty garbage can with a lid?

how bad does the compost smell?

how do you put the compost on the plants, do you just like place it on top?

You could use a trash bin, but there is a balance to find when it comes to the air circulation that the city compost bin finds on it's own. You can use a trash bin, you will just have to stir up the compost a bit more I believe. The bin I visited didn't smell at all outside, and I opened it, looked in and everything.

To put on your plants just wait until everything is broken down into a nutrient-rich soil, then gently sprinkle on your plants.

I really hate the term "repurposed" ("re-purposed"?). It comes of as pretentious to me. Isn't there something better you guys can say every episode? I think the word recycle works fine but maybe it's not as cute. I really am a fan, hence why I'm subscribed, but I think this whole video came across as pretentious. You have subscribers because they want to reuse and help the environment. I didn't appreciate being told not to litter and to send hand written letters. This is an internet video!

Well, recycling is the reprocessing of old materials into new products, whereas re-purposing is just reinventing the way you use a piece. Like using a vintage Pyrex as a planter. It may sound pretentious, but it is just the correct use of the word.

Either way, the most important thing is that you're doing it. So bravo!

Gardens are nice, but there are a lot of small things people can do to retrofit their home to be Earth-friendly too, including using compact fluorescent bulbs, installing water-saving fixtures on showerheads & toilets, & using power strips that turn off when they aren't in use. Otherwise, if you've got something plugged in, it's using power whether it's on or not. Oh, and avoid getting those horrible plastic bags at the supermarket--bring your own!
