Here is my "new" suggestion.

Voters are given a card that they "swipe".

After they vote a receipt is printed with an anonymous serial number.

The results of voting are posted "online" sorted by the serial number.

That way people can verify their vote based on the serial number on their receipt.

If anyone has a better alternative I'd love to here it.

They should create a way of monitoring whether a machine is getting screwed or not. They said the boot up sound can be suppressed by headphones. They could simply take away headphone capability, or make it so that an alarm will set off if something suspicious happens.

I'm from Canada, and we still widely use paper ballots and other verifiable methods for elections.

I agree 100%. Pickable lock, reproduceable keys, can be accessesed by simply unscrewing the back panel etc.. nevermind the fact that it is a fucking computer! Computers are SO EASILY corruptable.

The worst is that this machine DOES print out a paper ballot. But that paper is not printed WHILE you are voting so that you can verify it. I think that is the fundamental flaw with this design.

I immediately thought of that too its so silly why not just print it as you push then through your receipt in a ballot box.
