I'm going back through the comments here, and there's some guy saying that SP didn't have a good album after Mellon Collie? Adore was arguably the best album by the Pumpkins. Great lyrics, great melodies, and then the live versions were just soooo good. Also, this same guy says Nirvana influenced more bands than the Pumpkins. I have a feeling people say they're influenced by them simply because they feel they have to be. Because they're a classic band. I like Nirvana but they aren't as gd as SP

It sounds like he's using some sort of fuzz pedal, along with high gain settings on the amp ( high amplitude of the original signal by the amp).

ya, hes a good drummer, but me being a drummer (i have 9 years of experience) u listen to his stuff all he does it that high-hat beat like this song, or the ride beat with the foot-taps on the high-hat with the off beats on the snare. im not saying he's bad, cause he's great at those beats, i just never heard him do anything other than that; besides for like zero, n thats not even a good drumming song. im not dissing him, cause hes my favourite drummer

to me, what made nirvana catch the ears of the masses was their simplicity. very simple lo fi sound with simple catchy melodies and simple solos to go along with them (most of em just went along with the vocal melody).
