technique and musicianship are inseperable a bit like thought and language, you cant express a thought with out the use of some kind of language, just as a musical structure must have technique behind it to express it fully , if you cant physically play it then it dont matter if you can hear it. thats why we spend hours blowing through changes and exerscises etc.

A truley missed musician unfortunately he stopped taking his meds this was mere weeks be4 his death his body of work is amazing I am a bass player and suffer from the same disease the thing that is amazining is every single note high on the register is picked a true geniuos i miss him was in 8 th grade when he died I am now 40 and still payin

I'm a guitar player, but I saw this instructional video from Jaco a few years ago and it changed everything for me!

He's so fluid and musical. Endlessly innovative.

Such a shame that his personal demons eventually dragged him down, prematurely ending his musical and inspirational contributions.
