Their conclusion : Lance is in the top 2% world athlete, but he lacks of recoving to challenge riders on multiple days races, and his VO2 is average amongst best riders, much lower than Lemond or Hinault. Their advice : he should focus on one day race.

What I believe is that Lance was born with extremely high VO2 max and his performance improved by 20-30% because of sheer hardwork. He had reached his body's limits through hardwork and not PED. LA got cancer in his testicles from using dope since he was a teen triathlete and then to survive cancer, which is a lotto and use that survival to enrich himself on the back of others suffering from the same terrible disease is disgusting.
The drugs he took for his cancer included EPO, apart from the fact that he lost a lot of weight due to the illness massively increasing his power to weight ratio, with regards to epo it has been found that if you train like a maniac you can continue to receive the benefits long after you have stopped taking it, the only downside of this is that you have to continue to train without breaks or lose said benefits. What does it matter if he cheated the vast majority of them are still cheating.

I can't believe hghepo was only comparing the pictures of LA from the past to present to judge his weight. I myself look skinnier when I was 155 than right now which inlooked more muscular and only weight 140. First of all you have never raced a bike, beceause you do not understand just how hard it is to maintain that cadence. Iit is not for everyone, true, but there are very few people who can spin at 100 rpm for 6 hours. Also, he lost 20lbs between his cancer and his first win in 1999, that is just a fact. Doubting a fact makes you an idiot. Lastly, as a racer my self (mind you a very minor racer) last time I checked bike handling is part of racing.
@hghepo about my cadence I find it very effective in a way that i last longer and fresher in the end. tried lower cadence and higher gears and it killed my legs. I slower my cadence in flats about 85-90 but I'm still spinning compared to my friends. when the hills comes I kicked their butts all the time.
And yes you're correct high cadence needs a lot of oxygen. He was out of the tdf for a long time, I'm not sure what was his average cadence in 2009 but in 2010 we really didn't see a lot if lance in the mountains because of crashing and he was already out of contention when the mountains come.
@hghepo I'm not sure if I can rate it but if you have cancer spread all over your body from your balls up to the brain. That is indeed very depressing, that's when mental toughness combined with the medicine comes in. People jumping off the building because of depression and no medicine prevents that! @hghepo. I'm no sure if you ride a bike let alone a road bike but I do. We were riding one day and he was looking at how I pedal, I usually average around 90-97 cadance. I always beat my friends especially in the climbs. I'm not so good in the flat though.

When your doctor tells you that you have 20-50% or no chance to survive at all with the disease that you have and still have the balls to fight it and beat it. Two points regarding his performance: 1) He lost significant upper body weight during his cancer treatment which contributes to his increased climbing ability and 2) My dear wife, the doctor, tells me that screwing with performance enhancers is suicide after cancer treatments.

The drugs he took for his cancer included EPO, apart from the fact that he lost a lot of weight due to the illness massively increasing his power to weight ratio, with regards to epo it has been found that if you train like a maniac you can continue to receive the benefits long after you have stopped taking it, the only downside of this is that you have to continue to train without breaks or lose said benefits. What does it matter if he cheated the vast majority of them are still cheating.

Retrotesting on the 1999 urine samples has given 6 EPO positive samples for Lance, 2 others had EPO too, but not enough to be said "positive" according UCI criteria.

His masseuse and many team-mates have testimonied about Lance's doping.

I myself look skinnier when I was 155 than right now which inlooked more muscular and only weight 140. Even the crooked research on Lance of Dr Coyle say it too , he was even heavier in 1999-09 (79.7kg) than in 1993-09 (75.1kg).

In an interview done in 1997 for Testicular Center Research Ressources, LA said he didn't lost weight (see link on my YT profile).

@hghepo about my cadence I find it very effective in a way that i last longer and fresher in the end. tried lower cadence and higher gears and it killed my legs. I slower my cadence in flats about 85-90 but I'm still spinning compared to my friends. when the hills comes I kicked their butts all the time.

And yes you're correct high cadence needs a lot of oxygen. He was out of the tdf for a long time, I'm not sure what was his average cadence in 2009 but in 2010 we really didn't see a lot if lance in the mountains because of crashing and he was already out of contention when the mountains come.

If you want to know why he is a better climber post-cancer it is because he lost weight you moron. Climbing is all about power/weight ratio. His lost 20lbs and kept his power. That is a winning combo. Plus he changed his cadence to about 100 RPM.

The EPO found by Paris' lab in Lance's samples had been validated by WADA but UCI refused to prosecute Lance.
Since EPO has been used massively by athletes including riders in 94-95, TDF is won by EPO or blood doping. It's not a coincidence Lance was in relation with one of the father of blood doping Dr Ferrari

Two points regarding his performance: 1) He lost significant upper body weight during his cancer treatment which contributes to his increased climbing ability and 2) My dear wife, the doctor, tells me that screwing with performance enhancers is suicide after cancer treatments.

@dtorfleming he NEVER lost much weight... because he increased his climbing power by 30%, he should have lost 30% !
In fact Lance testimonied at SAC affair that his weight were similar at all TDF (+/- 1kg).

@u368 You are aware it's possible to loose weight in one area and put it on in another? Like loose upper body mass and put in on elsewhere? After treatment he was 17 pounds lighter, which he then gained back in other areas through specialized training.

@u368 Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying his record is spotless and Ferrari is a crook fair and square.
But him going through the severe treatment, let alone the getting through what was a bad prognosis in the first place will cleary leave a psychological effect.
If you are a cyclist, i'll bet you are capable of a 30% increase in performance, but you're metal state holds you back. I know it holds me back! What he went through has given him an edge, i think its reasonalbe to assume.

Progress are made by small amounts, and that is true everywhere : sport, music, ...

@u368 WRONG. Clearly you know nothing about training. Its very possible to modify your training style in order to achieve new goals. He was UCI national and World cycling champion at 22 years old, so the fitness, talent and ability was there. After almost dying of cancer, he came back with a vengence with the sole intention to win the tour de france.

Mate you don't know anything about cycling. The fact that you rate L.A as no1 says it all. 7 TDF is very nice (even on dope) but Merckx has 5TDF's, 5 giro's, 1 vuelta, 3 times world champion and a whole bunch of classics.
Who deserves more praise, the guy that only really races in one race and wins it all the time or the guy that rides and wins all of them?!

But yes national pride isn't a stranger to my choice for Merckx as THE greatest, all Belgians will say that he is the greatest. Objectively Merckx is always top 3, no matter where your from.

@cyclingmilitia The point makes by u368 is that the "donations" were secret for a while and recently McQuaid proposed to reporters to check the accounting piece of informations. In fact when reporters came to see them, McQuaid exhibited some sheet of papers at 10meter away of them, so they were not able to check and verify them.
There is a lot of serious discrepancies (amount, timing, goal,...) between Armstrong, Verbruggen, McQuaid and Sylvia Schenck about those "donations" after a positive AAF

@franrafuki Testicule cancer increase DRASTICALLY the production of a hormone that is systemically tested so Lance' s cancer should have lead INDOUBTLY to false positive test, winner were tested.
Lance didn't test positive so we can conclude that he used masking agent to hide a doping program!
So Landis and Hamilton have no credibility, but what about the other witnesses? They are all liars, do you believe that they have lied to Grand Jury too...

Regarding the other "alleged" witnesses. It's your word against Armstrong. You can believe you who want, I dont care about your opinion.

@franrafuki I never wrote that cancer produces EPO, just that it increases beta HCG in such values that leads to false positive tests for every people suffering of it. Just check it if you can understand that.

And everything won legally, because no judge has removed any title or has suspended Armstrong, while all its rivals have been punished for doping.
