IF he is Al Hashim doesnt that mean hes a descendant of the prophet SAWS (Banu Hashim)? I met a brother in England from Banu Hasim his great grandmother was Fatima (radiallahu anha)
I don't think its possible for someone to be the great grandson of the someone who lived that long ago, and still be living. Maybe he meant he was directly descended from her (which means he was also directly descended from the Prophet SAW)
Assalaamu alaikum my friends, the recitor is, without a doubt, Shaykh Salaah Al Hashem.
As for holding the mushaf during the Salaah, i agree with kosel1951 with what he said...
s far as holding the mushaf that is allowed in some of the mazaahib, mainly shafi3i school. instead of focusing on whether the imam is holding the mushaf or not i would suggest trying to perfect your tajweed like his.
Islam is truly the HAQ-no book not even near to the level of the Qu'ran-Allah swt has given us the HAQ! we must show our appreciation and love for ALLAH,for we need ALLAH always and ALLAH needs NO one..

If you want to add where he is reciting from in the details or comments to help the viewers read along if they want. That would be good, insha'ALLAH. Thank You.
Jazaak Allahu Khayran for the video, but the mosque is not Al Afasy's mosque. Rather it is Kuwait's Grand Mosque. Just thought you might want to edit the details.
some scholars such as the late Shaykh Bin Baz rahimahullah permit it..
But we must watch closely.. shaykh saleh isn't exactly reading from the qur'an.. he's just holding it in front of him in case he's unsure of his memorization..
Holding the Quran while leading the fard is not allowed (the five daily prayers), but because Sheikh Salah is leading Qiyam (a non-fard), it's permissible to read from the Quran. A boy led prayer with Aisha and he was reading the Quran.
Also what Surah is this?

Some scholars go further, by saying that it is only permissble to do this at home, as is the case in the hadith you mentioned.
