Follow Up: Error 80010514

I just fixed my ps3 by myself without even opening the ps3!!! Its very easy!! I went to a car garage and i used thier ( air gun ) they use it to clean the engine and other stuff . I put it in front of the ps3, i saw that too many dust is getting out from the ps3 when i finished from the front side i cleaned the back of the console. Now i'm playing mw3 without any issues :D

I already asked a friend working in sony workshop and he said: don't bother yourself " try to open the ps3 cover and reach the blu ray lens caver and open it then clean it with something soft) cause if you send it sony they 'll do the same thing or they will change the whole blu ray lens and they will charge you for it unless if it's under the warranty it 'll be for free

UGH error 80010514 right before skyrim comes out., This is my 2nd ps3, my first drive failed while playing resident evil 5, and this error started happening AGAIN on my slim after reinstalling RE5 to play with a friend. Coincidence? Probably.

BTW you have great taste in games, I too own disgaea 3 and Sacred 2, never had problems with sacred.

It first happened to me when trying to start Resistance 3....funny thing is the video's included on the disc worked but the game wouldn't load...weird...

when i play my other games it just works fine

if the recovery settings doesn't work then that means that your blu ray is still not finished

sony had some problems with the blu rays but it was to hard to find out wich one hade the problem

well the problem is that a part of the blu ray cant read the call ofduty games becosue they are to strong the disks requires a good 100% working blu ray

so what you only can do is sell your ps3 and buy a new one or replace the blu ray

@thierryhenrystar another thing if you have a warrenty then you are lucky but if you don't you need to pay sony 150 dollars to fix the error that was coused by sony self i know LAME but that is what it is i just returened it to a dude that sold me the ps3 and demanded for a new one and he gave me one with a game included as a gift for saying sorry

didnt work ive had 3 ps3 in under a year all of them packed up with this code first the old 40 gig one then a 120 gig slim then another 120 gig slim the last 2 sony have replaced under the warrenty. some games worked some didnt ,all dvd and blue rays worked fine on all consoles sony say this is extremly rare,well it cant be that rare ive had 3 all of which have suffered this error code,im onto my 4th ps3 at the moment 120g no probs so far its been a few weeks since replacement fingers crossed

ok, my ps3 got this error code a couple months ago, i tried the restore file system and it didnt work, and i dont have a vacuum on hand to clean it out. but just a few days ago i popped in CoD4 to see what would happen, and it started right up and kept going until i tried to get into an online match. does that mean i just need to clean my drive?

the easiest way to bypass this error without fucking up your machine is when your games come up with this code error pick up yor machine and rock it heavy end to cd insert end as if you had water in a bowl and was swishing it back to front then while your doing this press x on the controller the problem is the lens and this method works every time without costing you a bomb and resetting your machine which in most cases never works

yer i did what your told me in the other vid it said your hard disk is fucked up so i restored it like you said then it completed i reset my ps3 and then put the disk in im so exited omg finally i can play again then it just reads the disc and makes the noise like your ejecting it or putting it in but it stays in and dosnt have a disc in the game section or load up what do you rekon i do buy an xbox or what?

yes vacuum works but not too strong just and easy steady vacuum will do to all of your vents works on all gb's

i got this message with black ops pre orderd it whent back the next day got a new one and workded firtt time but not second pissme off i think ps3 is the shit but wtf so i did this fix and it started to load then it gave the messasg wtf so i did it again and it worked my opinion is to call ps and lie to them tell them u already sent it in and it does it agin and to give u a new ps3 they will ask u ur preveous send in info tell them to fuck off ur mom did it and she died a year ago then bam

Just letting everybody know that your suppose to vacum your ps3 vent often as they get full of dust and can ruin your system so vacuming should happen anyways

I just got this error tonight, my blu ray drive itself should be ok because I already had it replaced once. Maybe it is just dusty. I am going to try and clean it off with the dust buster canned air, or the power button fix....wish me luck!

Actually, what I did was get one of those air in a can spray for dust removal. I sprayed the crap out if and IT WORKED AGAIN!!!

It may be just dust people! Just spray it first.

Hey, i was wondering if my error is the same thing, i dont get 80010514 come up often, usually it either doesnt show the disk icon, loads but freezes on a black screen, or on CoD:MW2 i can play one game before freezing. however every now and then the code will display. also i tried the previous video and it didnt seem to help at all. and one game seems to work perfectly fine, which is Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (unfortunately i dont enjoy playing that game)

@DemondHarris It is indeed the same error, but on the other side of the problem. Basically, your disk drive is dieing and needs to be replaced.

@VainZiler damn, btw i tried the hoover thing, it did nothing, HOWEVER it made me ONLY get the error rather than freezing, so at least if i didn't know what it was, i definately do now. im just wondering if you know what specifically could be wrong, when i get close i can hear it making a noise when trying to read a disk, which is tempting me to open it up lol. do you think its the laser, somethings jammed? or still dust :D?

I hear that the error 80010514 is pretty much an overall code that means multiple things, apparently if it doesn't work or it comes back then it is the bluray drive, if it works then it is the HDD.

Back in the day of the ps2 when my laser(i suspect) wasn't reading discs i was told to spray compressed air into it and then it worked fine. something with sony and dust...
