metalcore has a unique influence in it which won't be found if you simply mix hardcore and metal.

take for example Emmure (goodbye to the gallows), they are under Hardcore/Metal, but they are not really metalcore at all.

so yeah in most cases metal + hardcore = metalcore, but metalcore is a separate genre in itself and should be treated as one.
