I have a question regarding something you said midway in this video. You mentioned that if you leave it off for for 1hr or so, it has a nice feature that preserved your night vision where it turn on high for a split second and then goes to low. I tried that; no luck. Are you sure it's not a fluke where you twisted and it made 2 contacts and changed it to low mode?
@hornymonk626 It could be, but mine does it every time I let it sit for a while. I tried everything to see if it was just the contacts and it still does it.
I just checked again to make sure and it's still switching to low. I use alkaline cells (duracell and energizer)and it also worked with a rayovac nimh rechargeable. Could just be a defect with my specific light.
I bought this light last month at Target on impulse. I already had an X5 for many years but only used it for work since it was a little to big for EDC. I was so impressed with the X1 that not only do I use it as my EDC light but it also replaced the X5 as my work light. Nice review by the way..
I don't consider my self a "flashaholic", but I do know flashlightss. I've owned $50 dollar flashlights that I thought would be the last flashlight I would ever need until they broke. That being said. For the price of this flashlight alone. This might be the only flashlight somebody should ever need, because it is cheap and very bright. The human eye can not decipher between bright lumens. The reflector in the flashlight matters too.
@LeathermanFan2 Some of my best lights are the cheaper ones.....$26 coleman max 115 lumens, $20 river rock 75 lumen, $20 dorcy, rayovac....etc just due to the fact that they are direct drive with no other electronics. I still love my expensive lights also for the sheer coolness factor. As a flashlight reviewer I have the opportunity to review all types of lights, everything from 20 lumens up to 3,000 so far. As long as the light holds up to testing I'm cool with it.
Whelp, I just got mine. I am very impressed with how nice the flashlight beam is on this little flashlight. You can barely see the spotlight in the middle. A good flashlight should be second nature when you are using it. You should not have to squint when you are using it in the dark. I think people don't realize that it is not how bright the flashlight is. It is how much detail you can see with the flashlight beam. The better the flashlight beam the better you can do your job when you use it.
Nice review as always Brother. I also have the new X1 for about a month now and it has become my EDC. I am still on the original battery and do use it every day for maybe three minutes or less per day. It is still as bright (ON HIGH) as the first time I used it. I think it is the value and the quality that you get here that really makes this a very good choice. I got mine at TARGET for just under $20 and in my opinion it is a no brainer. Thanks for your time and dedication Brother. Royal.
Thanks again for the review, your review helped a lot. I made my decision. By the way, I am guessing that you can make an improvised tactical flashlight buy pressing the momentary on and off. Tactical flashlights are designed for you to click the flashlight on and off without pressing the button on.
@TacticalAngel86 All depends, the 300 is smaller and comes with a pocket clip, but only produces 16 lumens.....The X1 produces a ton more light at 55 lumens but with added size and weight.
I personally like both lights, but for different reasons
Some people can't believe this, but buying flashlights is very complicated. I have a total of about 8 LED flashlights ranging in prices from about $5 to about $55 dollars, and my most expensive flashlights broke in less than a year for whatever reason. The LED flashlights that seem to last the longest are ones with the least amount of complication in the LED electronics in the head. The flashlights with usually one bright lume.
@LeathermanFan2 I can believe it, I spend hours sometimes looking at flashlight specs before I make a choice.
I haven't had many problems with my electronic heavy lights (some are around 5 years old), but certain things can kill them quick. Water getting in, magnetic activity, excessive heat, physical damage, being dropped...etc
I mostly use the EDC lights for just a few min and don't let them near water. I mainly beat up my cheaper lights also, most of them are direct drive non electronic.
@sirmasterpimp Yeah, I do the same thing too. After having two of my expensive flashlights break. I am going to try and buy flashlights for less than $30 now.

I am reading the "run drive current on these flashlights were set too high" on flashlight forums and the LED will burn out overtime. Keep us updated bro.
I think I read something like that a few years ago about the X1.....I think they mainly have a problem with rechargeable cells, due to the flat discharge curve. People that use disposable cells have almost no problems...... I will make sure to use only alkaline cells with this light.
Great video, YUCK finger nails! :-)

@MrRoyal615 Thank you man, I really appreciate the kind words
The value on this light is outstanding for what you get, I put a half dead battery in mine about 2 weeks ago and it's still going strong.
Thanks for stopping by!

@LeathermanFan2 Yep it can be used for tactical use, but keep in mind that it will also switch between 6-55 lumens doing so.
What I like about the x1 is that it is a forward click vs a reverse click with most other flashlights on the market.
