im the same with him v i hit the ball strait then it goes to the right hard!and i have not played in along time but im doing the myrtle beach junior golf team and im 11 years old its does make me hit farther but not 350+ so that shold i do?thanks!
Nice vid guys, as a golfer who hasnt played in 7 years I am now getting back into it, I enjoy your videos, I need to stop my driver hits from fading hard to the right, i want them to get straight, I have good distance but the ball always curves tothe right~
350 yards! Wow! that is really really amazing. Thank you for sharing this VDO. Your theory is very intersting. My theory is on the whole body's energy transfer, right at the impact to the ball. My body is not so big. My best is currently 320, and I'm working to make it to 350 one day.
Not a chance I'm ever going to hit it 350,,,or 300 for that matter but that being said this is probably the best golf instruction video on You-Tube.
I'm sixty six and hold a nine handicap,,I love my senior men's golf at my club,,it's a great game. I'm doing a complete equipment change for this new season.
I'm fortunate that I can still make a good shoulder turn and I've known for my forty odd years of golf that is where the distance derives from,,good video, I'm working on flexability now.
I like this video its straight to the point and any golfer who wants to hit it further will appreciate.... the key facts here are the shoulder turn, hip, and release....Excellent it has helped me get that ball further.....
There are plenty of people who drive 350 on tour and aren't even in the top 100. There are at least 5 ways to add more club head speed. The X factor technique doesn't work for 90% of amateurs due to flexibility problems. I can hit it 295 if I catch it square and I have almost no hip rotation and am more of a stack & tilt method. I guess this is one method to try if an amateur wants to try something.
@brown55061 Thanks for the comment. I don't agree with your theory that "plenty of people who drive 350 feet and aren't even in the top 100". I don't know how you quantify "plenty". This is a video of someone who IS a long ball champion. He makes his living driving the ball farther than most. My point is, he speaks on the subject that he is an expert in. If his technique doesn't work for you, that's cool. But I think you're WAY off base & CRAZY to suggest it won't work for 90%
Simple misunderstanding. I meant PGA tour, not long drivers. And the 90% isn't due to technique but physical limitations of the average golfer's flexibility. The average golfer is 40# overweight where the average tour player is in phenomenal shape. People who drink their dinners and eat KFC 3 nights a week are going to struggle being flexible enough to make their hips and shoulders turn fast enough to pull off 350 yards, w/out the cart path that is.
@foxracing2809 I can hit the ball 300 with the right conditions and I'm 15, and I know 8th graders who could hit the ball just as far as me, so I wouldn't say you're lying.
Hitting your drive 300 yards really isn't hard to do, I'm 6'1" 130 pounds and I can outdrive kids older and stronger than me. ITS ALL TECHNIQUE! Lean right, arms straight out front, high tee, straight legs, belt buckle through on the downswing, you can hit it 300 fairly often... (a good driver never hurts either)
can somebody please help me, i've been wondering this and tried to see it in the video but the angle wasn't very good. so is your front leg supposed to be bent more than than your back leg on your backswing?
I seem to hit my 5wood further then i do my driver and it really annoys me.. I go to the range very often but find that my wilson 5wood out powers my Dunlop 65i x 1 wood.. Why is this? Are their pros and cons about the different shaft materials? My wilson 5wood has a steel shaft and my Dunlop 1wood has a flex shaft.. Would you recommend me purchasing a steel shaft 1wood or are flex shafts best for drivers? Please help me out!!
@twotone17 I wish it were as simple as telling you one shaft or club is better for your drives than another. But it's just not that simple. And unfortunately it's not something I, or anyone else, can diagnose the right way via email or a YouTube message. You really need to have someone who is knowledgeable, look at your mechanics as you are on the range, driving using both your clubs. While obviously using the right club is extremely important, I think the real issue may be with your swing.
@twotone17 ur swing is steep.. a steep swing compliments a 5 wood , not a driver.. so there is ur performance problem right there... if u wanna hit ur driver farther.. practice hitting off ur knees .. you have to be rounder and it will help u get that rounder plane with will turn the ball over and not balloon it...pro from inglewood
@ichigorox90 Yes, you do get power from your shoulders and rotation, but it's really about all of your swing mechanics. Everything is important, and must work together.
@ichigorox90 More power comes from the hips 1 mph increase of hip speed = 25 mph clubhead speed increase. This is due to leverage points and length of angles bio-mechanically.
@foxracing2809 It would be great if you could take a video of that and post it to YouTube. I know a lot of golfers would love to see it. I know I would. Can you take a video and send it to me?
to get a great feel for what he is talking about try this. take a club and make do a chip shot as follows. place a ball at your right foot weight forward 80-90 percent. now make a 1/2 to 3/4 swing holding your hips in place or allow them to move just a bit; now fire your hips so they face the target...just allow your hands to trail ..they will drop into place with good contact...but you will experience the torque of the x factor that he is talking about. bonus you will be amazed at your chip!
Now the only problem i have and other of us older golfers may have is that the so-called x factor move allows the hips to really fire and pull the hands into the slot but start with only a few of these until you get used to it or you probably will have a sore lower back. not saying don't do it but it is something your muscles have to adapt to as it is a tremendously powerful thrust
i am 56 short with a belly. my doctor tells me i am not a very flexible man. i am athletic however. i drive the ball around 200 to 230 if i get it good. well i tried 2 of the tips this guy showed in this video and regularly hit over 260 and on 2 drives went a little over 300. the things i changed was the hip tip creating what he calls the X factor and keeping the elbow in but not tucked. Great tips...thanks
@theevansmaster I only wish I could have hit the ball 280 yards when I was 14. I think you are right on track, actually ahead of schedule for your ability to drive the ball. Keep up the good work! And keep pracicing!!
Hey this is alot of questions, But i need them answered please! Ive golfed for 7 years and i quit/ Got out of it and now i cant hit a golf ball straight to save my life Why is that?, I was Thinking about geting some ping golf clubs woould that help my game? or what clubs do u sugest? im 14 and as big as im going to get,so please help!
@zziNsanityz So you are 14 years old and you golfed for 7 years but took soome time off. I guess you started when you were very young. SAounds like you've lost your "muscle memory" in the time you've taken off. I woujldn't worry about what clubs to buy, I'd worry more about your mechanics of your swing. I'd practice, practice practice! That's how you'll get better. And if you can, take lessons. Find a local golf Pro to give you lessons on a regular basis.
@JakeeOOisOObored Works well for him. Might not be good for you, then again maybe it wold be. Better to try and see, then to not try and just speculate.
Just a question: shouldnt your head be straight throughout the shot? Im not trying to critisize, im just wondering because im starting to play golf, and ive been taught that your head should be straight lokoing at the ball. In your video, your head moves with your backswing?
@msatrakkoic1 Thanks for the question. I watched the video again and I have to say, I think overall he did a good job of keeping his head straight during the shot. Was his head perfect? No, but it wasn't bad. I've studied a lot of golf swings, and I'm not sure I'd consider his head movement to be an issue here. Of course, as golfers we know there's always room for improvement.
@WestBromSte I guess that does depend on who is watching. However, for anyone who plays, and who can follow some simple instructions with an open mind, they will hit their drives farther than they ever thought possible.
The key is first believing you can do it. Then it's a matter of following some simple instructions. We can always improve our game when we have a good teacher!
@WestBromSte Excellent point! I think it comes down to a few things. One, having the belief in yourself and/or your abilities, having a good teacher and practice, practice, practice....
@WestBromSte I guess that saying is true. After all, Tiger became Tiger because of his practice habits. If you practice harder than your competition, you'll more than likely play better than your competition. The good one's always take their practice seriously. I sometimes enjoy practicing more than playing because I can challenge myself to get better. Which ultimately makes me better when I play. So yes, I agree with you. Practice does make perfect!!
I am having trouble with my second shot. I am not striking the ball as well as I want too. I am either topping the ball or hitting to soon in front of the ball and not creating a good divot for control or to much of a divot. How can I fix this and have a better second shot?
@th3vikes make sure u keep ur knees bent throughout ur swing, if u extend them your gonna pull up and top the ball, and try not to move your hole upper body side to side, thats gonna make ya fuck up, you wanna drive throught the ball with ur legs and hips, not ur upperbody

cdizzle2210 1 year ago
@cdizzle2210 The easy answer is "yes", everything impacts distance and accuracy, from the club to the mechanics of the swing. Not knowing your skill level (although I suspect you're an above average player), my suggestion would be to concentrate on your mechanics. More than anything this will have the greatest impact on your distance and accuracy. It's no accident that Tiger practices more than any other player. He understands the importance of perfecting his mechanics.
