It's a little surprising that no other maker has copied this design in some way or another. People might not realize that even when they're not in use, they will vibrate in sympathy with the higher strings, which helps give the piano such a rich sound. I stood beside one of these as someone played and thought the piano had descended from heaven! I yearn for the day I might be allowed to play one...even for a few minutes.
I have bought a ticket to see you in june 5, in the nezahualcóyotl room, I hope you don't get distracted if I cry.... I'm sure I'll cry, cause I cry even with no very special pianists, with you I'll need a galon water to survive and don't get dehydrated
@onlymusiciansallowed Amateurism? How does that show? Please explain Master.Enlighten us.Reveal your secrets of your supreme listeningskills and understanding of how to apreciate pianists and their art.:-)
@acortot No. It is well known in the Liszt literature that he preferred louder sounding pianos, like those of Erard, and often criticized the softer and delicate pianos of the age, such as those made by Pleyel. Liszt used many pianos in his life, for practicing, performing, and composing, but he always preferred those with the loudest sound.
@acortot Did you not read my first comment? I said he would have loved it for concerts. There's no point in arguing with you since you're doing it for the sake of argument. Read first, then decide whether or not it's worth commenting, because it really wasn't.
Ukraine seams to turn out wonderful Musicians super pretty girls like Valentina and great aircraft as well..... I would let Valentina play my Yamaha concert grand anytime.. : )
I would have quite a time with the Bosendorfer Imperial. Any and every piece I know that uses any shred of low octaves would get that roaring pleasure.
@buellwinkle69 Well, it's an interesting thing. Actually these russians are from Ukraine ;) Russians rock rather for having so many great composers, but the great interpreters & some good piano manufacturers are from Ukraine.
please could you do beethovens 3rd mvnt of his pathetique sonata, because i am doing it for my grade 8 and would love to listen to your version of it :)
In many performances things peripheral to the performance add to the experience. Sometime it is the demeanor and gestures of the performer. Sometimes the appearance of the concert hall. Endorsement is a leading manufacture of art case instruments. Some of these instruments are in traditional styles.
Would use of these art case pianos from time to time add to the experience? Perhaps, there is even a business case for there use.
These low keys made me think. If I was taught correctly humans can hear frequencies between 20Hz and 20kHz. If I calculated correctly the lower edge is between D#0 and E0 (just below the lowest A on a normal piano) and the upper limit is between D#10 and E10 (in the third octave above the highest C). So these low tones are almost at the edge of infra-sound and still sound pleasantly. (Not sure that would be case with the notes at the edge of ultra-sound).
@asadik123 However its not just pure frequencies emitted from the low strings, there are myriads of overtones, and that is why they still sound pleasant as you say.
@ValentinaLisitsa You are awesome, Valentina! I am only a life-time admirer of Beethoven as a pianist and composer, and of his great artistic character!. Also of Glenn Gould in more contemporary times. It is a privilege to follow your activity as a pianist, with insights that show your great artistic character! I love it! : )
@ValentinaLisitsa I look forward to your posting. This DVD will not play on my MAC (although the first two DVDs do). Also you speak of making analogue recording, but all this info: music + picture is coming to us digitally. I believe you are experiencing the loss of info that comes from low end players that are limited to 8 or 16 bit bandwidth whereas a high end decoder has 48 or even 96 bit width. You sound better on a McIntosh or other high player than on a $69.99 bluray player.
If only Scriabin lived today and were not so ignorant to other composers, he would have produced a new universe upon hearing the 00:50 miracle (in terms of internet memes: when he hears it, a parallel universe will be shat). It symbolizes the birth of a new, mysterious cosmic dimension. Thank you for the HQ recording, Valentina!
Have you heard of the Stuart and Sons piano? It is a very unusual instrument crafted in a beautiful assortment of timbers with 4 pedals (the extra acts like an upright soft pedal) and comes in concert and studio grand sizes with 97 and 102 keys.
There are other pieces you might have fun using the black keys with. The Chopin Prelude No. 17 has those A flats played Sforzando -- I wonder how they would sound augmented. And Debussy's Engulfed Cathedral prelude as some low G sharps (and a G sharp/A chord) when the cathedral has sunk back into the ocean again.
@ValentinaLisitsa And what about the low A bass note in Ravel's Jeux d'eau after the descending glissando halfway through the piece? That should be an A-flat I think. It would be a nice quest for you to finally play all these pieces the right way, a new challenge! :)
When i heard this song for the first time (played by Valentina), i thought it was thundering! Really! - in the good way, of course. My congratulations :)
if you'll ever come to Romania, oh gosh !! i wish you will come soon. i`ll be there. many people loves you here. Happy new year from Romania, Valentina !!
That suspension of delightful 'noise' in the bass has the most splendorous affect on me. Liszt would have been ecstatic to be in the possession of this Piano :D

I bet Liszt would have loved to have one of our modern day pianos so that he could fill those large concert halls with his solo piano even more.

@OriginalBasaliskos maybe.. maybe not... he composed on the Boisselot, which is a small-sounding piano..

@OriginalBasaliskos for playing concerts, yes..
for composing no..
he also used a small sweet-sounding vertical piano of the french design..
he was flexible, and could use anything.. but his 'daily companion' for a great time was the Boisselot..
