Wow I like your desktop! You have the same keyboard, same coloured mouse and the same speakers as I do! All i'm missing now is an extra screen and a cintiq, and we'd be equal haha
I love mine but I've yet to get the colors quite right. I calibrate mine with Colorspyder. What I see onscreen looks great but on any other monitor the colors are radically different. Love the table but I'm hoping I'll find a fix for this color problem.
I would just die If I didn't get one of these they are awesome plus ya never run outta materials ether all ya need is a Photoshop or one of those other drawing programs its absolutely perfect
@Armanienius I've been using a Tablet PC to sketch with but the viewing angle and gap between the screen and digitizer annoyed me. How is the Cintiq when viewed from extreme angles, is there a lot of contrast shift or is it an IPS panel? Since I have the Tablet PC, I'm leaning towards the less expensive Intuos4 and so I can use it on my larger LCD panels.. It seems like you can get used to the disconnect with enough practice. I wish Apple would incorporate a Wacom digitizer into the iPad.
@Supralobe Yes, there is a little gap between the screen and the pen, but you get used to it fast. I'm at the moment saving up to the 21 inch Cintiq. The viewing angle is okey. The main selling point of the cintiq is the natural feel of sketching ideas fast and fluently.
@Armanienius It's awesome, cuz I'll probably get one next year, when I start following classes (or how do you say that in English, cuz in Dutch we say following a "training" (opleiding))
@DallasGreen123 I heard it has no delay at all. The actual screen is a little bit below the screen that you draw on, so from a different angle it will look like there's delay when there actually isn't
Yes, it's great, but it's also expensive like hell... So, how someone (me) who want to learn with it (some student with low budget) can get hands over that?
@Zentai88: this is how I'm doing it... I bought the lower end middle grade tablet by Genius for about 70 bucks. That's enough pressure sensitivity that your work will look professional. (I only chose genius because they are the equal competition brand that happens to be cheaper!) Then I will work some free lance jobs and a normal day job (boo). Then after that I will save around a 100 bucks a month. In one year I should have around 1200 dollars saved to put into the highest end Wacom Cintiq!!
@hasaraka Sure, if you say so... I got wacom bamboo fun pen and touch but it's hell I can't draw a straight line with it! 2 jobs U say? I can't do even one job due my disability T_T
Thank you for you response! I do have the page set at 300 DPI. I'm just finding when I pick a brush it looks jagged. Unlike in Illustrator. I like Illustrator but he eraser does not work the same as in PS which is a let down. Which is the best brush size to do line drawing and then printed on paper to color in with markers? Its probably a dumb question but not one YT vid has indicated this for newbies! Thank you!
@BearyWishes Have a look at the options in Brushes, you find that under Window menu. Photoshop drawing is made with pixels, Illustrator is made with bezierCurves, that are smooth even how close you zoom in, but if you zoom in on a pixel, if will become jagged, but if you set the DPI on 300, the print will make the pixel look smoother. Select ShapeDynamics in the Brush window, and set Jitter to zero, then the line should become smoother. Hope this helps.
@BearyWishes You have to use higher DPI (DotPersInch), for print it should be 300 DPI. You set this up when you make a new document (in Photoshop). If you are making a drawing for web you set the DPI to 72. Hope this help you out.
@de8struction ROFL! i thought so too im like...hmm thin body.....loin cloth of sorts i like where this is going.....lopsided boobs? wth? ohhhh its not a naked chick..
@nickierainbow Yes, you have to be plug into a Mac or a PC. You get a simplepaint program with it. So you need Photoshop or Painter to really have fun with it.
@Armanienius u do need a power supply for this it comes with a power cable. so u cant use it in for example on the bus on ur way to paris or dont know to somewhere else. am i right?
@nickierainbow You also use animation programs like Toon Boom studio or Toon Boom Animate if you're an animator. You can use Illustrator, photography editing programs, storyboarding software. I've seen some people edit movies with it using iMovie. I haven't tried that yet. This thing has endless possibilities.
I'm just about to buy the cintiq 12wx tablet for my 2010 iMac. Did you have to buy anything extra to connect yours to your iMac or was it all ok with what came in the box? I heard that I need a dvi to usb lead, is that right? Plus what do you think of the tablet? Cheers
@MADDiExLiZ Yes, Photoshop is the way to go. The cut down version of Painter I have only used one time. But if you buy Painter 11, then you are golden.
Good work! I'm not sure if this question was asked..but does the 21wx respond to touch at all? I just wondered, since some people wear gloves etc..for instance can you pinch to zoom etc?
@SolarRainUK No, its only sensitiv to the pen that you get with the tablet, it doesnt registrat your hand. The reason for a glove, is so you dont get grease on the screen.
I have this tablet before but I exchange it with 21ux. The problem is that, it' shaky in the topleft most corner of the screen and it annoys me. 21ux is my choice but since this baby is portable and cheap buy it at all cost. Wonder if Japan will make a cintiq like laptop to carry around
@RJAce1014 Yes, I wanted to buy the 21ux, but not inuff money :) But as you say, I also hope that the japanese will make some tablet wonder in my price range. But I'm pretty happy with the 12Wx.
@Armanienius Yup 12wx is pretty portable but not as portable with a lot of complicated wires around. If they do make like the real portable like no wires just like laptop and the pc to cintiq connection is wireless also rechargable, I diffinitely gonna buy it coz I like the portability just like psp
Question... I have the same tablet, and everytime i plug it back in i have to reinstal the drivers... I figuredI must be turning it off wrong.... how do you turn it off?
Alright, thanks. This thing is amazing but it could have alot more potential. Most of its handicaps are because of wacom trying to squeeze money of its customers instead of appying things that make it a independent device in my oppinion.......
need sth similar t cintiq but not that much expensive...plsss help...i basicly need sth t draw...i want it t be somehow cheap but gooood plss helpppp :/
what if you scratch the screen of this tablet, or it has some dead pixels?? you cant see then your drawing ? or you can also use it like a regular old intuos tablets?
i rly like drawing, i draw a lot but im still wondering weither i should buy or not... I'm not a pro (probably never will) and it's quite an investment for a sudent... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :O
does it feel more like drawing on a sketchpad? I assume its better cos u can rotate the tablet and rotate ur hand and stuff rather than drawing with something and looking up at the screen? just trying to find out some answers to see if its worth getting one?
oh no of course it wont feel like paper - but is it easier to draw on - i mean just because u can turn the tablet and rotate ur hand and stuff for comfortability - u cant do that with a regular tablet - if u rotate it - its just gonna draw the same :S
1, I have heard the offset is annoying....and, it can be a turn off...do you experience this, and is it fixable by calibration?
2, I hear the edges aren't as precise as the center.....and, if you draw on the sides the brush wobbles a bit....is this true? And, is it really a big problem?
I am trying to decide whether to buy this or not....basically....is it worth the price?
it does have problems near the bottom and sides with the cursor and pen not aligning.
also trying to align the pen and cursor while collaborating can be quite annoying and frustrating. it isnt perfect, but once you mess around on it with its options and such, it works just fine.
i think its worth the money, this is a really good investment if you are really serious about making artwork and things like that.
@LightDeity I don't think it is a big problem. I have a cintiq 12wx and it's not hard to click on buttons on the edge even though it's not right on and it's kind of wobbly, it's not like I'm going to be drawing there anyways.
Armanienius, I tired this but I've still got a cursor, it's strange, no one on the whole internet talks about this cursor business at all and yet I find it totally distracting to the point of not wanting to use my Cintiq, it's make or break for me, if I can't use the pen like a pen, without some digital floating cursor in my vision then I'm going to send it back. The frustrating thing is that I've seen videos of artists using it without a cursor, so it must be possible, surely.
I have posted a videorespons to this video that shows how you select the right cursor. You cannot turn off the cursor all togheter, but you can make it better, like a circle as the penpoint. Hope this videorespons help you out.
How did you disable the cursor in photoshop? I've just purchased a Cintiq, it's great but the damn on screen cursor in photoshop is preventing me from drawing intuitively.
I just got one and it's THE best thing ever made...period. I just have one question though. Even if I use a straight edge the line will never be perfectly straight. Is this just a common hardware fault on an imperfect technology or can yours actually draw perfectly straight?
I really appreciate the response!! But that wasn't exactly my problem. What I meant was that if I put a straight edge on the screen and run the pen down it, the line will come out with little "waves".They're not drastic at all, but I was just wondering If I should be able to draw a perfect straight line using a straight edge or if the pen on screen technology is just imperfect and doesn't always track the pen exactly and the subtle waves are inevitable. This same thing happens with traced curves.
The resolution is 1280x800, and yes you can also use the Cintiq as a general purpose second monitor and watch Lyndas tutorials etc. It works for me. I also watch tutorials on it as I work with XSI on the main monitor.
I bought one but it's a $1,000 dust collector. The 12" has low resolution, and the larger is too large (for me). I prefer to work on my regular Wacom tablet.

I've just purchased a Cintiq, it's great but the damn on screen cursor in photoshop is preventing me from drawing intuitively.

you go the menu Edit>Preferences>Cursor ,then click on Full Size Brush Tip

I just got one and it's THE best thing ever made...period. I just have one question though. Even if I use a straight edge the line will never be perfectly straight. Is this just a common hardware fault on an imperfect technology or can yours actually draw perfectly straight?

I have posted a video respons on it..

Can you make a screencapture of it?
Use camtasia or some other program and post your video so we all can take a look at it. So maybe we can help you out.

Alright! I will when I get the chance!!

It's the software. If you use Photoshop, there's no way of combating that unless you zoom in.

Cool vid. Some questions :-
What's the resolution of the screen?
Is it possible to use the screen as a general purpose second monitor and have videos or lynda tutorials running on it?
SpiralTrance 3 years ago
The resolution is 1280x800, and yes you can also use the Cintiq as a general purpose second monitor and watch Lyndas tutorials etc. It works for me. I also watch tutorials on it as I work with XSI on the main monitor.

Cool, thanks.

ohh I want it!!!

I bought one but it's a $1,000 dust collector. The 12" has low resolution, and the larger is too large (for me). I prefer to work on my regular Wacom tablet.
