  • Something is wrong with that Z, my brother's 300 ran 13.4s with only chip exhaust and filter (which will NOT give you 400hp as many believe. 350hp at best.) on a totally shit drag strip.

    Anyway that MR2 is some weapon!

    unless you drive an automatic (in which case option 1: please take the time to convert it to a proper manual Z or option 2: drive it off a cliff) your VG30DETT is rated at 300hp. I did look it up just to make sure I wasn't mistaken, which I wasn't ;) So how many of you Z guys actually know shit about your cars? All the people in my club seem to know their shit. Maybe it's just the YOUTUBE demographic of Z owners...let's hope so.

  • I'd say that Z doesn't have 400 bhp. A stock 350z with 306hp does the 1/4 mile in low 13's and weighs more than this 300zx

  • My passenger was 14 odd stone rugby player, the car is much quicker with just me in it. Best time ive had has been 13.5. That is generally considered to be about 13 secs dead at a proper drag strip. Crail is gravelley & points uphill!

    Ive fitted water injection plus i have bigger fuel rail/injectors to fit then a map tweak & then i'll hit the track again!

    actually... the Z's in america have 286 hp Mr enthusiast. Look it up.. I own 3 TT Z's Not to mention that a completely bone stock twin turbo Z will run a 14.1 all day... its amazing that a built Z with a turbo upgrade only picked up .2 secs in the quarter mile. That Z should be in the 11's or 12's easily. That is a stock Z with a cat back exhaust and intake with maybe a couple more pounds of boost and a crap driver. check out my videos

  • phuongvu88 is on to something. One of the best attributes of mr2's is the fact that they are so light. especially the mk1's. if that guy riding shotgun got out im willing to bet itd be a mr2 win. and before anyone hates just know that im not just blowing hot air here. I drive an mk2 mr2. not as light as an mk1 but an mr2 nonetheless.

  • You dont need any forged parts at all to run 600hp on a 300zx. Let alone 400hp lol. You can get that with an ECU upgrade.

    I would bet that the 300 was bone stock.

  • You are a fool. Bone stock is 320hp for American 300's. Mine... with only intake exhaust and a chip ran 377rwhp (Stock turbos).

    its a custom tune but it is easy to do fool. At the engine im close to 440hp. With stock injectors and a small alky injection. Im not saying the 300zx is better all around, in fact i wish i never bought it, it's a shit car it costs too much to fix and is a boat even with the hicas.

    The point is. The car will make more power than an mr2. Then blow its doors off

    my Z gets just over 400rwhp on stock turbos and injectors. I could get more if i used race fuel. 12psi is 400hp and 16psi requires race fuel and i've yet to dyno it on that tune yet

  • If you made a Naturally Aspirated 1.6 Inline-4 at Formula 1 grade it could be up to 500hp. With a turbo it could be much higher than that even.

  • Good run that was with two ppl in your ride with a camera lol. I never seen two ppl in a aw11 at a qm run do anything that low.

  • Should be pretty nippy once its run in, i built my MR2 more as a track car than a drag racer though, reckon things would even up if you threw in a few twisties :)

  • definatley, i have a Z32 that pwns the shit outta my mates MR-2 Turbo on a drag but once we get on a track hes gone. The z is just way too heavy to whip arnd corners like the MR can.

  • Just add upper strutbars, swaybars and a whole lot of other small arms and bars and you can kick his ass on the track.
