  • The rock booker t

  • everytime i see this, i think of the time in WWE when the Rock was ragging on Booker T's wcw title, and ran down the list of WCW champions. "B

ooker t, David Arquette, Flo from the Jeffersons"

  • I wonder if Tony Schivaone coined this night as the show started, "The greatest night in the history of our sport"?

  • Man how gay is this!!!

  • "what does this mean for the future of WCW?"

it means that WCW wont have a future

  • This event inspired John Cena to become a wrestler(In his mind if David can do this, he can)...LOL

  • @RenTao15 stupid

  • I could see TNA doing this one day..

  • this is the worst day in WCW history!

  • @TheWaukeshaSquirrel DDP Trained David

  • looks like dewey riley proved himself to be stronger than anyone even ghostface and got his gold:P

  • Russo still thinks this was a good idea because people are still talking about it.

  • did the guy use the belt to hit the other guy? cmon

  • wtf those clothes

  • This is one of the reasons why WCW went out of business.

Stupid decisions like this killed the company.

  • @snake2006 Wrong. Fail.

  • @xSOILBORNx

    No,that is the truth.

I degrades the belt when you have a non wrestler win the most coveted title of the brand. That is like giving the WWE Heavyweight championship to Richard Simmons. You just don't do stupid shit like that.

Plus with piss poor booking, the fingerpoke of doom, telling people Mankind won the WWE title among other stupid decisions made my Russo and Bischoff caused WCW's failure.

  • @xSOILBORNx No dude you are wrong. I have watched wrestling 30+ years and know it all. WCW died in 1997 when the AOL / Time Warner merger happened, almost 4 years BEFORE Arquette won the title. It is documented that AOL did not like pro wrestling period and did not want it on their network. It was announced the doors would be shutting in 2001 back in '97 which was during their highest period (NWO era). No matter what happened after '97 they were still closing up shop.

  • @xSOILBORNx What? Where is the info on this? Seems pretty interesting but with how well business was going in WCW in 97, probably WCWs best year ever, I would doubt they would decide to shut down something that was making them a lot of money. Or give them another hour on TV to make Nitro 3 hours long. That just doesn't make sense. Or give them another show for Thursdays.

  • @xSOILBORNx AOL/TIME WARNER MERGED IN 2000 TUNER/TIME WARNER MERGED IN 1996/97

  • So he is saying about Mankind " Yeaa that'll put a lot of bums in seats" yet they have this? common

  • What the fuck was David Arquette doing in wrestling I mean seeeeeeerriiiouuuusslllyyyyyyyy!!

  • That was a Ripley's moment and a sign WCW wasn't worth shit at the time!

  • This proves wresting is not REAL for sure!

  • Great moment in wrestling right here

  • The thing that took WCW down the drain.

  • 1:07 Why is Eric Bischoff wearing a bra?

  • one of the many reason why wcw failed!

    RIP

  • WCWs wost moment!!!

  • What year was this?

  • @birminghamcity123 2000, which was WCW's worst year, but the stuff back then was more entertaining than the shit today.

  • To be the man, woooooooo, you have to beat David Arquette!

  • ONE OF THE WORST MOMENTS IN WRESTLING HISTORY

  • It's a bit hard to hear what DDP is saying afterwards... he is saying: "Really David... you just won the World Title? The title I walked into the match with? That's freaking hilarious! I will make less money now and likely be bumped from the main event, but that don't matter to me. Let's celebrate!"

  • Seeing as I've only seen him in the Scream movies, it is so weird seeing him go from whimpy Dewey Riley to WCW Champion.

  • Wow, how can you enjoy something which is so staged. He only won because he had enough money.

  • @cheesefruit200 Wrestling in general is staged.

  • This is fucking amazing

  • Can someone explain what exactly happen? like the storyline for this?

  • The impact zone?

  • Who would have thought looking back Officer Dewy would be a better champ than Cena.

  • CENA and the MIZ being champ is equal to this

  • @thenicholashuber You are not a wrestling fan.

  • @fatmanfiftythousand So you think the Miz was as believable as a champion as Bret Hart or Steve Austin?

  • @countrywhiteboys09 i hope your not a grown man talking shit to a kid because he likes wwe. if so then thats pretty sad.

  • True True That was the worst thing Vince russo done

  • Does anyone know what happened to DDP?

  • @richard21solava In WWE, he was portrayed as stalking Taker's wife, which virtually killed his career

  • what stupid idea

it worse than the miz & cena

2000 it was one of the worst years in the history of WCW

  • if J.R. was calling this match he would said "ARQUETTE! ARQUETTE! ARQUETTE!" lol

  • jarrett got screwed that night

  • @TheMph019 Jarrett never should never have been anywhere near the main event scene to begin with. He couldn't draw shit and before returning to WCW he lost to Chyna and thus killing any credibility he ever had.

  • Was Russo on major amounts of hallicinogens? Who the fuck would ever take an angle like this seriously?

  • Atleast Arquette held the title right-way up. XD

  • he's in monday night raw this week on the slammy's on raw

  • WCW > WWE/WWF

    RIP WCW

  • David is on raw in a match tonight its Alex Riley and David Arquette VS Randy Orton Orton can pull ot off i know it!

  • Flair writes in his book Arquette donated all of his earnings from the WCW to Owen Hart's family and two others that lost their lives in wrestling.

  • They actually celebrated thier company going down the toilet

  • ahahaahaha, I like the music in the backround when he wins ahahahaha. It's classic

  • it be better if David won the US title.. hell even WWE writers today would agree with that.

  • i just today know that David Arquette is was wrestling.. :D

  • @TheWaukeshaSquirrel - couldn't agree more, but at least the other guys were in WCW. Arquette was a B-list movie actor, and as I said I don't even blame Arquette because it was basically forced on him. But this was the final nail in WCW's coffin that rendered it pathetic.

  • At least Arquette could hold the belt correctly. It irks the fuck out of me when wrestlers hold belts upside down.

But no, he's not the worst champion ever. He donated all the money WCW gave him to the families of Owen Hart and Brian Pillman and only agreed to being champ because Russo insisted. Russo's title reign was much worse.

  • @TheWaukeshaSquirrel I know what you mean...DDP champion on one channel and on the other...Stone Cold Steve Austin...

DDP blows Jarrett out of the friggin' water in all departments but other than that I'm having a real hard time thinking of a comeback...by the time they got round to giving DDP the title it was too little too late - a gamble that didn't pay off. But I think had he not won the world title people would forever be asking why he wasn't given a chance...

  • hate all you want people, but this is still hilarious

  • @TheWaukeshaSquirrel DDP was a legit main eventer and if he had started wrestling 10 years earlier he may have been the greatest ever. The fact is he debuted when he was 35 years old and within 4 years had become world champ - watch his feud with nWo, his match with Goldberg, his promos and his shoot interview before calling him a glorified midcarder...

  • and you wonder why wcw failed..

  • Sadly, I think this was the high point of David Arquette's career, if you want to call it a high point.

And he wins the title...on Thunder?!?!? WCW's B-show?

Well, let's be glad people didn't waste their money on a PPV match with Arquette winning the title. WCW would have been dead the next day.

  • @xandermercury - To be fair to Arquette, the Scream movies are probably what he will most be remembered for, followed by this WCW Title win. But I honestly can't name anything else memorable he's done in the entertainment world.

  • @CIW1985 he's pretty famous for being married to that chick off Friends...lol

  • GENIUS!

  • if some celebrity had to win this they should have made some famous celebrity win this, like some action hero, cmon david arquette hes still not famous.

  • 1:10 Eric is like "Oh Fuck WCW is so dead"

  • wow. a celeberty won a WCW title

  • at the time i didnt know who he was

  • Okay its pretty bad he won the title, but it cant be as worse as Vince Mcmahon winning the wwf championship. You never have a owner hold the title. Plus at least david arquette didnt want the title while, or acted like it. While Vince was shoving it in everyones face When he had it ;D

  • @JMcauley211 O.k: you have to consider that Arquette won by pinning Eric Bishoff and that 3 month later Vince Russo became world champion. You also have to consider that this was a tag team title match for the "individual" world championship (WT?).

You also have to consider that Vince McMahon is slightly more muscular than Arquette and did win due to Stone Cold ruling out his problem with HHH (one H is hated)... And they were more sentimental stuff around this scenario that with Arquette.

  • Hah better champion than Cena

  • i remember that, i was like what the? lol

  • it's not real

  • Unbelievabley stupid! Disco Inferno was more worthy of the title than this wuss.

  • wtf

  • Arquettes win was the beginning of the end of WCW

  • @007masteuba33 nah WCW was already going downhill he just added fuel to the fire

  • For those that don't know: David Arquette REPEATEDLY asked for WCW/Russo not to go through with this title change. However, he was signed onto Ready to Rumble, thus he HAD to cooperate with the company to promote the movie. After he won the title, Arquette gave his WCW paychecks to the families of Droz, Owen and a few other wrestlers in need of the money.

  • @justinhighest - glad you mentioned those things, and I've never blamed Arquette for what happened, only Vince Russo although it probably wasn't totally his fault either. Bischoff later said that he and Russo had very little control over what the storylines were then because of all of the corporate influence that overtook the place.

  • @justinhighest A lot of good it did in the end. The movie sucked ass and it bombed.

  • Hands down THE STUPIDEST MOMENT IN PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING!

  • @carchavtube

No, the stupidest moment was John Cena winning the WWE Championship.

  • So much for tradition

  • LOL! That pin was no effort at all, bad acting.

  • as crappy as this was, this is still the one of the funniest moments in pro wrestling history in a kinda good way to me

  • Vince Russo was drunk while righting this

  • @WYTwrestling Dude Vince Russo was drunk while writing well pretty much EVERY

god damn storyline, vignette and promo in WCW. This is one of the reasons why WCW went down the fucking gutter.

  • @WWFGoldenYears TNA should fire russo

  • @WYTwrestling Agreed

  • what type of match was this???.... this has gotta be the worst day in wrestling history....

  • @thechainzter It was a tag match. DDP & Arquette vs Jarrett & Bischoff. Oh...and DDP WAS THE CHAMPION!

  • @xStarscreamx666x why was DDP happy about loosing his belt???

  • @thechainzter Your guess is as good as mine.

  • No wonder WWE won the war!

  • After watching this I believe David Arquette was the hummer driver

  • Tha worst day in wcw history ever

  • arquette pinned bischoff (wasant even in the match)

  • he played Randy Mann in pushing daisies

  • where was goldberg or sting or booker t damn of all people to win

  • He is the guy of the WCW movie Ready to Rumble (2000)???

  • @SAINTMANSIN yep,he is

  • wtf? what were wcw thinking?

  • I love how the ref completely ignores jarrett's closer pin, you can see why wcw failed.

  • jarrett's oponett kicked out, so he won fair and square.

  • The fact remains still that jarrett was closer to the ref.

  • worse night in professional wrestling

  • DAMMIT RUSSO!!

  • I hope your kiddin'! I remember watchin this crap.....I never turned on WCW again! The value of that belt dropped tremendously.

  • The writers are stoned for this, lol

  • i would rather see him win the wwe title then john cena

  • so WAIT.... are they trying to mimic the David Arquette from "Friends" or is that guy another David Arquette? Cuz on the Smackdown vs Raw 2008 (video game for xbox) I made a David Arquette custom wrestler as a joke lol and then I saw this and was like "NO WAY"

  • no its really him

  • why the hell does david walk weird??

  • I think he was "injured" to some degree before this match began.

  • if i was Page I'd have wanted my rematch shot right there and then

  • Wow just wow i need to know was the WCW writers high when they came up with this, " hey there jim you are company's dying so do to the Aol,time warner cable deal so why not but the nail in coffen and put David Arquette as champion" the rest is history. lol

  • russo is a FUCKING idiot but he killed wcw and he gonna kill tna

  • U can tell people were like what the fuck this gay asshole is the champ in the crowd. Look at their expressions I bet they felt embarrase to be there

  • GAYEST MOMENT IN WRESTLING HISTORY

  • "Were not going to take it... ANYMORE!" how ironic!

  • This wasn't even Vince Russo's idea. It was Tony Schiavone's.

  • 1991 WCW suck TNA is all about kurt angle and sucks to and Jonh Cena is a assho

  • 18 assho

  • Fuck you WWE forevery TNA Will died

  • this basically killed WCW...Vince Russo is a fucking idiot...

  • @ONLINExGAMER this, and all the crap at bash at the beach. and the fingerpoke.

  • @ONLINExGAMER - I can't stand Vince Russo as well but I don't think this was totally his call.

  • Arquette didn't even want to go through with this and was against the idea of becoming WCW champion from the start but Vince Russo insisted it would be good for the business so against his will, he agreed.

  • this sucked so much no wonder they went out of business

  • If Sheamus still has the belt by 12/28, the the sign I'm bringing for RAW is "Rather see David Arquette as Champ!"

  • The belt was completely disgraced by Arquette winning it. Not blaming Arquette himself, but just saying.

  • @Jeff051176 - LOL, the belt IS a disgrace!

  • @Jeff051176 Arquette himself actually DID NOT WANT TO DO THIS.

  • @Witness2TheWade I know that - re-read my posts about it.

  • @Witness2TheWade EACTLY people need stop thinking it was Arquette idea to win the title, which he had nothing to fo with it. it was vince russo and the writers that agreed to book him as champion, but still one of the worst moments ever in the monday night wars and this basicallt turned people to wwf.

  • @DrSanto91 yeah vince russo killed WCW. it's the reason why i also moved to WWF at the time when there was the Dark Ministry vs the Corporate and the fued between rock, Mankind Shamrock and Austin etc. lol

  • @DrSanto91 I don't see what the big deal was. It was done in a way that made it look like an utter fluke. If he'd beaten a wrestler, then I'd think it was BS, but he beat Bischoff with a ton of help from DDP during the match.

I'd have preferred this not to have been a main event, but it was what it was.

I would have thought that there were a hundred better reasons for switching to the WWF

  • @DrSanto91 Arquette pleaded with Russo not to put the belt on him, knowing that fans would despise the move

  • "@Jeff051176 wrestling is a bullshit "sport" so a bullshit winner is fitting

  • I forgot exactly what month & year Russo came in to the WWF and when he left, if I have that info then I might be able to give you 3 good storylines that McMahon came up with.

  • God bless David Arquette though; he was a lifelong wrestling fan, and donated all the money he earned working for WCW to injured wrestlers and their families.

  • worst moment in professional wrestling. this was the moment i stopped watching forever.

  • I stopped watching WCW long before this and as it turned out I didn't miss a damn thing it's last 2 years.

  • How Could Ted Turner Allow Something Like This To Happen?!

  • Was Ted still in control of WCW programming at that point?

  • you might as well have thron the belt in the trash

  • it all depends though .

if david started to pin his opponent before ddp then he was "legal"

  • jeff jarrett sorry

  • Thus starting the end of WCW and I can kinda see a Raw guest host awarding himself the title

  • How hilarious would that be if a Raw guest host won the title lol.

  • They were thinking of getting him to host a few weeks back I dk what happened to the idea but if a host DID win the belt it would be like this the beggining of the end.

  • The end of the attitude era and Vince pushing Cena as the top face were both the beginning of the end. WWE is so far gone at this point nothing will bring it back.

  • well you got a point

  • @Jeff051176 The Rock...?

  • The Rock would still have some value but I don't think it would be the same - the Rock is 37 which these days is old in the business, I mean most people are sick of Triple H at this point and he's one of the greats in the business, and does anyone give a damn about Sting in TNA? My point is stars from the past had their time but things change. The end of the attitude era was the end of WWE being entertaining and relevant.

  • I will still admit, that this is ten times better than cena holding the belt. Plus let's not mention the atrocity of a belt he's created.

  • wow u can see the fans throwing trash at this crap

  • Sometimes I have the weird feeling the Vince Russo was sent by McMahon to work for WCW and screw it this way. In an order to destroy WCW. Is it a conspiracy, or could this actually have happened. All I know every other wrestling company should stay as far away from russo as possible.

  • A friend of mine gave me a similar thought too, the only reason some of Vince Russo's storylines worked in the WWF/WWE was because McMahon had the final say on Russo's ideas, McMahon was like an editor, plus the fact that it set them apart from the more wrestling-oriented shows from ECW and WCW for having more talk segments while still having great wrestling action. Once Russo took his bullshit over to WCW and tried the same thing, it turned the fans off and they left, and you can't blame them.

  • yeah like tna

  • Yep WCW title meant that night the wcw title legacy is forever tarnished by the moment for is sense of history. People like sting, Dusty Rhodes, and Ric Flair bust their ass to get it. Why booking a hollywood C actor who not a wrestler instead of a talent that worked hard everynight?!!!! 0_o

  • not only was this the worst publicity stunt in sports entertainment, that cover of "we're not gonna take it" was auful.

  • And this still isn't as bad as Hornswaggle constantly beating Chavo every week....

  • Why is Chavo the greatest wrestler ever? Meh typical stupid WWE hater.

  • This match pissed me off. Hell, it would have been more exciting to see a female wrestler win the World Heavyweight Championship instead of David Arquette. When will a female become a heavyweight champion?
