after installing wine I have about 1554 games according to winehq that will take no work to play. 1479 more games that will take a little amount of work. 1102 more games that will take work to get it to run. about 2656 more games that I wont be able to figure out how to run at all. so 4135 vs 2656 games, so that is a total of 6791 pc games tested on winehq, which the tests depend on which wine you use and which distro u use. playonlinux makes it easyer so about 4500 of those games you can play
if someone can tell me how to put os x on a pc easy, then pc here I come. if not, i hate doing this but I have to buy a iMac and easily use boot camp. I have to have os x as all my info can go quickly there.

@wiiandmacrules Number one thing, i can build a top gaming PC for 1.2K, the starting price of a mac. It has the top i7 2600k which can be overclocked, a good graphics card for $300 and good motherboard PSU and cooling and it can run all the latest games on top setting.
Also, most games on steam that have been ported over from mac have been converted from directX to OpenGL and on the same setup lose about 25 to 40 FPS which is terrible, im not bagging mac's, just know what your taking about!
or you could spend even less on a custom build PC, that would kick the shit out of anything prebuilt on the market today. plus you can upgrade your hardware easily whenever you want to.

Actually, there are a variety of graphics cards, processors and general PC hardware designed specifically for PC gaming, and many PCs can be bought 'pre-prepared' specifically for gaming.
Generally, Macs aren't optimised for gaming, especially MacBooks, or any laptop in general for that matter. They are designed to be, as you said, fast for approaching day to day tasks, not resource-intensive ones such as, for example, gaming.

And PC gaming computers are not that expensive either. I got a ASUS gaming labtop that can run crysis maxed out with WINDOWS 7 for $1800. Also it is our choice if we want to spend a bunch of money on a computer. I used to own a mac, I had to send it back 5 times because it either had the operating system would not boot, or faulty hardware KP galore

well i have used windows and linux (Ubuntu) and i do perfer windows. i had vista but went back to xp and got a big boost in performance. Linux is a very good OS but i had a lot of problems with wine (please dont insult me for this i just cant figure it out, it worked fine then stopped loading anything no error just wouldnt start it and reinstall didnt help) and i am a gamer and dont like switching between os's so i dropped linux, but it is still a very good OS, just not my preference.

I have a regular PC, and I installed Mac OS X (Look up OS X86), and Windows 7 on it. Since PC Gaming sucks now, I'm on the Mac OS X Installation 90% of the time.

There are three ways to run Windows games on a Mac, the first one, being Bootcamp, it is the most stable, yet the most inconvinient way. Then goes Parallels, in which you do need to install Windows, but it can run in Coherence mode with Mac, giving you... Mac Vista, Mac OS XP, Mac 7, whatever you want to call it. Convinient, since all the apps are on the same desktop. The third, unstable, but the most convinient way is Crossover, this little app that adds a compatibility mode with Windows.
For some reason (and according to the PCworld report, which I myself experienced) Windows runs better on a Mac machine, with the exactly same specs. I have no logical explanation to this. Some buy a Macbook Pro, install 7 or XP into it to play hard core games, due to this reason exactly.
True, but the purpose is actually different. And lets see the iMac, it costs about what a good display, keyboard and PC would cost you. Mac Pro costs about the same as Asus Predator, it's just they aim a bit higher than a usual consumer.

Nope! Xbox uses XNA/Direct X on a basic windows kernal, so its windows. PS3 uses a Cell architechture custom setup, so its closes to the old mac. Dont know about PS2 but the funny thing is you can get Linux to run on all three consoles if your geeky enough.

And BTW, I have a wii, and a 360, but I enjoy playing on a PC with a Xbox360 controller because it has better graphics.

Actually, there are a variety of graphics cards, processors and general PC hardware designed specifically for PC gaming, and many PCs can be bought 'pre-prepared' specifically for gaming.
Generally, Macs aren't optimised for gaming, especially MacBooks, or any laptop in general for that matter. They are designed to be, as you said, fast for approaching day to day tasks, not resource-intensive ones such as, for example, gaming.

I hate to work on music in a PC, but mac has a lot of problems with the most used programs around the world (but it doesn't matter, I can live without them), and Linux is for some kind of computer geeks. @duckwithnukes because you guys run in Open GL, which is a lower Spec render (less quality for better performance),and alot of people in the community (including myself) have tried to convince Valve to make it where you have the choice to run in DX, Open GL, or Software rendering modes.
It is also a proven fact that Windows and Linux are the smoothest, fastest, best quality gaming platforms out there.
Mac is last, because Apple actually doesn't want you to play games on their systems.

If OS X is so good, why are there more PC's and Linux users, Why are there more official games like COD 4 and Counter-Strike made for PC. Even though Counter-Strike was ported to Mac, I have yet to find someone who plays it on Mac. Quality for gaming on a Mac is terrible.

And PC gaming computers are not that expensive either. I got a ASUS gaming labtop that can run crysis maxed out with WINDOWS 7 for $1800. Also it is our choice if we want to spend a bunch of money on a computer. I used to own a mac, I had to send it back 5 times because it either had the operating system would not boot, or faulty hardware KP galore

Another thing is that Linux OS servers last the longest followed by Windows OS servers then Solaris servers then OS X servers. Also Solaris is preferred at media workstations than OSX.Another funny thing is I have been a major PC gamer and have never had a Blue Screen. Also that Asus costed $1800 because of its high specs

well i have used windows and linux (Ubuntu) and i do perfer windows. i had vista but went back to xp and got a big boost in performance. Linux is a very good OS but i had a lot of problems with wine (please dont insult me for this i just cant figure it out, it worked fine then stopped loading anything no error just wouldnt start it and reinstall didnt help) and i am a gamer and dont like switching between os's so i dropped linux, but it is still a very good OS, just not my preference.

There are three ways to run Windows games on a Mac, the first one, being Bootcamp, it is the most stable, yet the most inconvinient way. Then goes Parallels, in which you do need to install Windows, but it can run in Coherence mode with Mac, giving you... Mac Vista, Mac OS XP, Mac 7, whatever you want to call it. Convinient, since all the apps are on the same desktop. The third, unstable, but the most convinient way is Crossover, this little app that adds a compatibility mode with Windows.

For some reason (and according to the PCworld report, which I myself experienced) Windows runs better on a Mac machine, with the exactly same specs. I have no logical explanation to this. Some buy a Macbook Pro, install 7 or XP into it to play hard core games, due to this reason exactly.
It's a matter of preference, I prefer OS X.

Nope! Xbox uses XNA/Direct X on a basic windows kernal, so its windows. PS3 uses a Cell architechture custom setup, so its closes to the old mac. Dont know about PS2 but the funny thing is you can get Linux to run on all three consoles if your geeky enough.
