there's a difference between power metal and heavy metal! power metal is faster (you could call it melodic thrash/speed metal), listen the instruments for a change. Heavy Metal = stuff like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.. Power Metal = Blind Guardian, Dragonforce (they suck but it's a good example) etc..

Great Bands from many countries have contributed to metal. But I think you chaps should give credit to the USA as well, because they developed, thrash, death, and progressive death metal (Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, Obituary, Death, Atheist etc...) Plus Rock n Roll itself developed out of two American folk musics, country and blues. And Jimi Hendrix was a huge influence on early metal bands.

They have one or two good modern ones as well, I personally like some of cradle's old stuff.

Sweden's got a lot of the good heavy bands though, like amon amarth, opeth, hammerfall, dark funeral, etc.

But then of course Norway and Finland have a LOT of good bands as well...

Remember buying "Glory..." when it was released, after reading a review of it in a Danish Metal magazine, where it got 10 out of 10! In this period I was really into a lot of traditionel Heavy Metal (actually I still am, but it hits me in periods), so of course I bought it!
