  • katanas seem easier, yo xD

  • Aww, too short! I want to see how a rapier fight really flows....

  • @MossMaskface As far as I know, in any "real" Fight the action would have lasted no more than a few Seconds, in general. The Idea on epic and Long Fights between two People is mostly made up by Films and Movies. An those usually depict Sieges of a Castle as a Matter of Hours, at most days, whils in Reality they usually lasted for Week, Moths, Years.

  • SHIELD BASH.

  • are you allowed to hit the other person with the buckler?

Also the dude wasn't using the rapier, actually reminds me of an arming sword or an estoc.

  • noobs

  • foolish fantasy- this is not fencing!

  • @tcreeley How is it not fencing?

  • @aerik9 Trust me. As a fencer and a Renaissance swordsmanship enthusiast, I can tell you that this is only a recreation. BTW, these are cut-and-thrust swords, not rapiers. Rapiers can only make thrusting actions.

  • @SorenityVids Can't rapiers bind and wind as well (or at least just wind)? Certainly this is recreation, but it is also fencing, even if they are cut-and-thrust swords.

  • @SorenityVids As far as I know, Rapiers almost always had sharp blades and were also used for cutting Blows. The later Smallswords tended to be more often pure thrusting-Weapons. And as late as the End of the 18th Centuries, some Fencing-Masters included Cutting-Techniques. I find it difficult to say "fencing was like this or that." It heavily depended on the School your in and the Fencingmaster.

  • Did someone in the back of the camera said "Dobar potez" ??

  • yeah or else they would be very valuable... omfg man are u serious?

  • Pussy

  • Exactly who are you refering to?

  • 01davethecouchguy

  • I love that last sound at the end.

  • That wasn't a rapier..

    Wtf.. Anyway

    It was good vid.

  • On the left is John Clements, the director of ARMA, using a Cut & Thrust sword with a dagger to face an ARMA Senior Free Scholar using a short sword with a buckler.

  • Haha, the nick on the knee was funny.

  • i love two blades

  • huh... that was really short >.>, but interesting

  • the rapier guy is a pussy haha

  • i'd be a pussy too if someone came at me with a sword

  • I like to see you say that to his face. :-)

  • Hmm, too bad neither of them were using a rapier.

  • haha - good point.

  • Are there any real schools of fencing from the renaisance era that exist today, or is it all made up? I don't know anything about this so don't ream me.

  • yes their are quite a few western marshall arts schools and organizations operating today.

  • Some claim a lineage (not anything before the use of the repier as I know of though), others interpret fight manuals and manuscripts from those days. I thought it was bogus at first, but after 3 years of practising with ARMA and other organisations I can only say that it is very martial (and tons of fun)

  • Yarbols, if you by the "off leg" mean the left leg (when dagger is held in the left hand, if not excuse my bad english), I must point out that in many Bardi School manuals you will find it to be correct (perhaps also in english ones, not sure though).Marozzo's and Maniolino's sword and dagger can be found at HEMAC's homepage

  • ungh... what's with the off leg leading? why not just stick your chin out while your at it.

  • Cool but too short. String a few of these together.
