Browser Performance Testing - Internet Explorer 8

IE8 isn't a bad browser. I found it relatively quick at loading sites, but it was very slow when dealing with tabs (opening them, closing them etc).

But the new crop of browsers (FF4, Chrome 9, Opera 11 and especially IE9) blow it out of the water. I've been using FF for almost 7 years, and IE9 is the closest I've come to actually using IE again. It's really good.

Youtube load more really shows how bad IE is, if you don't know the difference, click load more 20 times on IE, then click 20 times on Mozilla then you will know the difference. Mozilla really takes advantage of my high end PC. It's like IE is Snow Leopard and Mozilla is Windows 7. It's that good.

1. Standards support > speed performance. IE8 automatically disqualified.

2. Misleading benchmark presentation:

Test1: 0.02s less -> WHOOO SUCK IT!!!

Test2: 0.02s more -> 0.02?! That's nothing, completely irrelevant!

Test3: 0.02s less -> IE8 IS THE BEST FOREVER!

Followed by comparison with the worst cases.

3. Use of tick chart: hiding benchmark differentials to downplay negligible gains.

Not to speak of Microsoft's track record of public deception and downright lying

Internet Explorer is terrible. I use Opera, way faster, and WAY more secure. It's not all about speed, it's also about security, support, customization, and features. And pretty much every other browser far out does IE in all those categories.

Firefox is moderately fast, but the actual software performance is horrible. It takes up the most memory and has the largest CPU usage....

in the end the performance difference is so marginally small that the only thing that actually matters anymore is what the browser supports... and IE falls WAY behind on CSS and HTML support, a lot of features don't work or are not displayed properly.

Causes a lot of headaches for developers.

This fails to take into account, or explain many factors. E.g. Firefox and Chrome can be easily tweaked for performance by addons, etc. IE cannot. The total loading times as opposed to which loads a webpage faster by 0.02s. There are many more such as the state of the system you were benchmarking on.

I can judge by the name of your channel that this is clearly biased but you could at least attempt to appear for real.

FYI I benchmarket GC is 1.83* the speed of FF and FF is 5.53*IE. All latest.

This was meant to show what speed the AVERAGE user would get... I don't care if you can "tweak" the performance... when the user downloads the browser and installs it, they will use it. That is what state these tests use.

Change the name to MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server 6. Double click to open 7. Choose Decimal and select a value 64 (can try with different values) press OK 8. Do the same and create MaxConnectionsPerServer with value 32 9. Exit the registry editor Rerun internet explorer it works as fast as chrome.

I do find IE8 faster than many other browsers on real websites and not synthetic crap but its not that responsive (takes forever to open a new tab, etc)

A video about speed should go by faster. Yes, this video goes by AT a SPEED, but not as fast as I would like. 4 minutes and 7 seconds is about 4 minutes longer than the optimal 7-second video that would say "OMG OUR BROWZER LOADZ TEH 25 MO$T POPULAR WEBSIGHTS DA FASTIST, LOLWUT?" with a kitteh in da backgrownd, which would be in keeping with the comedy theme of some other videos on this channel.

speed is not so much of an issue, things are fast enough.. you are fixing what already works good, and you know that line... if it works, do not fix it...

THE THING OF A MATTER IS.. to figure out how to eliminate all that junk sites, how to clear the air.... from pollutants.... no good sites...

I think ( even if you all don`t ), that it is possible to make computer program that would be capable of doing it by it self...

Here's what I get from the video:

1. Chrome is awesome! This is a 1.0 browser, with a performance on par with a browser on its 8th version (IE8).

2. IE8 is faster than older version of Firefox. By the time IE8 is out, FF is on 3.0.7, and 3.1 is coming. By the time IE8 is widely used (windows 7), everybody is already on their next version.

3. So MS proves that all browsers are fast, that they're pretty much the same. If that's the case, then features like add-ons becomes important. Firefox wins.
