I own both. For apps/games Ipod wins. However, I prefer the Zune HD for music. In my opinion, the Zune has way better sound quality for music..but I'm just that picky about my music lol..also unlimited downloads each month is pretty great for only $14.99.

If you want to be taken seriously, as a proper Tech Channel, then you need to give a fair test in terms of the video. Comparing a short demo clip that comes pre-loaded onto a HD ready phone, up against an episode of a TV show that is most likely in mp4 format (which isn't great) is a very unfair match up. You can't expect to offer a comprehensive comparison on two pieces of tech if they are not playing the same video clip/file.
Enjoyed watching it, just a few minor flaws that need sorting.

It does what it does and does it good. The itouch has decent video, music and screen quality, but the app store really opens the device up. No matter who bashes the itouch, i promise they would find at least 10 apps they like. But battery life SUCKS on itouch.

Better processor? I don't know, as I haven't compared the iPod touch 3G to Zune HD.
Better quality audio? Yes, but the iPod touch was never intended to be a speaker system (Steve said this himself). And also, it isn't HD quality audio; it stands for Hybrid Digital. Not HD-quality audio.
OLED screen? Yes, a screen that will break in 1.5 years. Read up on OLED screens; their life span is significantly shorter than LED/LCD screens.
better processor- yes, especially when compared to the 2g touch (the majority)
audio-your talking about the speakers, i am referring to the quality that comes out of headphones- HD audio, who needs it, it sounds better whatever you want to call it. oled screen- i dont know about it dying in 1.5 years-it turns out an todays oled screens will last 20,000 hours which is about 7 years, 8 hours a day.-i dont think you will care much about your 600MHZ, 32GB device 7 years from now,(or use it 8 hours).

I can justify the slightly higher price of the iPod touch with the reliability, stability and security of the software. For example, it takes around 10 seconds for a simple calculator app to load on the Zune; less than a second on the iPod touch. It can't even perform basic tasks quickly.
lets drop the display technology already, lets just let time tell, if there are a bunch of dead zunes in 1.5 years you win.
the difference in price between the 16gb nvidia tegra powered zune hd and the 32gb touch 3g is $100, that is a sizable difference for the majority of people who buy PMPs for playing media and dont want to buy a pmp for $300, when they can buy a perfectly nice smart phone that has constantly connected apps (maybe even an iphone for less than 200, with 3gs internals)

Personally the Zune HD looks really cheap compare to the iPod touch for me. the Interface of the Ipod touch is so much attractive than the zune HD interface. I don't know anything about performance but I'll definitely get an Ipod touch 3G over the Zune HD.

The Zune "HD" INS'T called "HD" because it looks like HD on the screen (the better Video quality is because of the OLD) it's called HD because it can play 720p Videos and can send them onto your TV.
Yeah, there is also the downsampling but it doesn't make a huge difference.
Videos on the S9 still looks better than on the Zune HD.

@magickrab calm down, its just a mobile device. ps. how exactly is zune a piece of shit, all of the hardware specs outclass the ipod. Better processor, hd video, oled screen, better audio quality. and way better software than slow ass itunes. and having radio on a music device is nice because they play music on the radio if you didn't already know.
(i own an iPod touch, so im not a Zune fanboy, although this device might just make me reconsider.)

Better processor? I don't know, as I haven't compared the iPod touch 3G to Zune HD.
Better quality audio? Yes, but the iPod touch was never intended to be a speaker system (Steve said this himself). And also, it isn't HD quality audio; it stands for Hybrid Digital. Not HD-quality audio.
OLED screen? Yes, a screen that will break in 1.5 years. Read up on OLED screens; their life span is significantly shorter than LED/LCD screens.

audio-your talking about the speakers, i am referring to the quality that comes out of headphones- HD audio, who needs it, it sounds better whatever you want to call it. oled screen- i dont know about it dying in 1.5 years-it turns out an todays oled screens will last 20,000 hours which is about 7 years, 8 hours a day.-i dont think you will care much about your 600MHZ, 32GB device 7 years from now,(or use it 8 hours).

20,000 hours is 2.2 years. Hardly long-lasting and no where near 7 years.
Why are you comparing it to the 3G touch? The 3G is out and it's significantly faster.
I will care a lot about my iPod touch in 7 years. I don't dispose of my Apple products. I keep them.
Oh, and by the way, both the iPod touch and iPhone have 800MHz capable processors. Apple under clock them to save battery life.

That is the maximum life span of the display technology, not the average and not the minimum. In reality, it will be a lot less.
The iPod touch 3G is already out; you're still comparing specs to that device.
I can justify the slightly higher price of the iPod touch with the reliability, stability and security of the software. For example, it takes around 10 seconds for a simple calculator app to load on the Zune; less than a second on the iPod touch. It can't even perform basic tasks quickly.

the difference in price between the 16gb nvidia tegra powered zune hd and the 32gb touch 3g is $100, that is a sizable difference for the majority of people who buy PMPs for playing media and dont want to buy a pmp for $300, when they can buy a perfectly nice smart phone that has constantly connected apps (maybe even an iphone for less than 200, with 3gs internals)

Because you said you've had your Zune for "4 years", it cannot possibly have an OLED display, but an LCD display; and since my argument was against OLED screens in particular, and not LCD displays, I would find it unusual if your Zune's LCD display actually DID break within 4 years.

Personally the Zune HD looks really cheap compare to the iPod touch for me. the Interface of the Ipod touch is so much attractive than the zune HD interface. I don't know anything about performance but I'll definitely get an Ipod touch 3G over the Zune HD.

The Zune "HD" INS'T called "HD" because it looks like HD on the screen (the better Video quality is because of the OLD) it's called HD because it can play 720p Videos and can send them onto your TV.
Yeah, there is also the downsampling but it doesn't make a huge difference.
Videos on the S9 still looks better than on the Zune HD.
