  • republican = neo-nazi idiology

  • I just heard on CNN that Hurricane Ike Evacuees are being evicted "early" so that football fans can move into the motel rooms and use the stadiums. It's sad in America when celebrities in sports get to push people out and usher in all their fans :(

  • It is messed up but there is more to the story. Those fans booked their rooms many months in advance and to not give them the rooms would be a breach of contract and they could be sued. Unless a judge steps in, they have no choice.

  • SO? and your point being???

  • My point? It was written in clear English, you can read right? I agreed with you that the situation is messed up but it is not the celebrities pushing people out of their rooms. Other people had reservations that they had already paid for many months in advance. It is not that the hotels wanted to kick out IKE evacuees but they run a chance of being sued if they don't. As a business owner I have to tell people no sometimes when I want to say yes, because the law is not always on our side.

  • Oh My God, you are an idiot! YES I know all about the CONTRACTS!!! But there was just a disaster last week and these people have no where to go!!! Contract or not there should be a hire level of standar and "priorities" than making room for some football fans. Also, they said in the news that it's up to the descression of the hotel/motels to honor the contracts or allow the victims to stay in this case. You seem to be hung up on the logic-circle of the contract rather than morals.

  • You have obviously never run a business or lived in the real world. "Discretion" in this case is a misunderstood term. As a business owner it is theoretically up to my discretion as to whether or not to pay my business taxes. I could chose not to do it but I would still have to accept the consequences no matter my reason was, even if it was a really good one. These hotels are in the same boat. Yes they could turn away those with paid reservations and just hope the civil court judge has mercy.

  • I study Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology and I can safely say you are (as many Americans are) unable to think "outside the box". In fact people like you nail the box shut. I know all about contracts and legal docs, I have 3 friends that run businesses. These motels/hotels could have sent out notices and made phone calls to people a week in advance, if the people who made the reservations have any "Morals" at all they wouldn't mind. Of course we live in the USA so what do I expect???

  • I doubt very seriously that you are are more well rounded in your knowledge base then either me or my colleague but that with standing, many of the hotels did send out notices giving people the chance to give up their rooms for the evacuees. Obviously some did not do so. I agree that it is pathetic and wrong but that is not always how the world works.
