  • Hey! Im from Statesboro Ga! Great song!

  • nailed it!

  • Hey john I really need your advice are the Gibson sg classic wiv p90's good guitars I've been offered 1 for £500 but wanted to make sure it was a decent guitar. Msg asap thanks.

  • @pretty9reenpark4 I've never actually played one so I don't know really.

  • Did Duane tune to Open E and then capo? The key is D no?

  • @rwwebb Duane always played in Open E, but the key is D, very right my friend, no capo required ;)

  • Bought a slide other day but having a few isues wondered if anyone on here cud help? Basically often when im picking the high e or b strings while using the slide either, it mutes (cos the slide isnt making contact with string and by finger behind is) or then when i try to counter this you can hear the slide mae this 'wobble' sound as it moves over the fret and sounds poor quality. I know i need to work on finding the right position, but wondered if anyone had any tips? Atm i use thin strings

  • @Robodiarmuid You need to raise your action and put a set of .011's on there and it will be 10 times easier. I use 3/16th of an inch over the 12th fret of the low E string. Yes it's kinda high, but I like it like that and for a beginner slide player you need it as high as possible.

  • did duane play this in E or D tuning?

  • @skydogelizabeth Open E.

  • you are great player man..congrats

  • got a gig coming up soon and i have to play this, so im having to learn it by ear.

  • @StephenFiorentini I just had a gig the other night where I played this on slide in standard if you just learn the intro you can fumble around in box 1 of the pentatonic scale and it sound pretty close and not as hard as it sounds

  • how long did it take you to figure this one out? even with all the notes, it's not an easy task. you nailed it though. great job. how much is a video lesson for this great master piece? thanks for posting. it sounded just like it. awesome job. Peace...

  • Great job on standard tuning. Duane plays it in an open E tuning on the Live at Fillmore East version. The definitive Version. Again Nice job. It is easier to phrase in open E and that is why Duane switched from standard tuning around their second album.

  • @skydog7725 (derek trucks)

  • Awesome. Great playing!

Kedocom, have a day off mate!

  • do you use some sort of nut extension to play with slide on electic guitar??? because when i play with slide on the electric the slide keeps hitting the fretboard : /

  • @iggvf I know this is an old post but I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn't be putting any pressure on the strings with the slide. Just let it glide over the strings, mostly directly on top of the fret. Hope this helps.

  • @blingberrystew ya i tried that (im playing a gibson les paul) and it is impossible to play slide without some sort of modification. but i bought a cheap guitar and raised the bridge and tailpiece and i use that to play slide ;)

  • now if some great one would just teach me how to post :)

  • I believe this guy probably plays better than Duane did, however, Duane came up with and originated this style ...... I believe a student will never be greater than his teacher but may do bigger works than his teacher did ...... and that just affirms the greatness of the teacher

  • Cool

  • Nice......check my video ........just search "Coricidino"

  • quick question: how do you keep accuracy? i prefer playing in standard, so its easier for me to switch back and forth, but its really difficult for me to keep any kind of accuracy in fast parts.

  • pretty effin good

  • awesome duane allman and srv were the best.....sounds great. keep it rockin....

  • @worldstatic

This sounds great and very well done ! But it especially makes you appreciate just How good these guys were like Duane and Hayes. This sounds super, but obviously its far below the skill level of the original , Like watching a college basketball game and you are highly impressed, then you watch Michael Jordan and realize just how amazing and how high a Level the Pros are

  • @LifeRegenRevolution Not to say this guy is as good as Duane and Warren, but if you put a rhythm section behind him like the ones they play with instead of that cheesy one he's using,, Well, you'd be surpirsed how much more of a pro he'd sound like. That's standard tuning too which most slide players can't play in.

  • Hey John. I just bought your open E slide Dvd and I love it!:D

I'm playing slide on my Epiphone SG, since I'm using my Fender for regular use:D

  • fantastic! Duane was the man

always wanted to see his stuff

    demonstrated

  • Good work John.

It is much easier in open E! (as you know!)

  • i think its way easier in open e

  • Great vid John! What guitars do you have?

  • I use these all the time,

    Gibson SG 61 RI

    Gibson 335

    Gibson Hummingbird

    Fender 1979 Strat

    Thanks!

  • I just saw David Gogo last night, he has the same guitar as the one in this video...

He totally blew me away... absolutely phenomenal
