I have a 140 lb American Bulldog and I would never use a prong collar! He uses the Extra Large size. With this harness he walks on a loose lead with absolutely no problem. He pulled only once when I first put the harness on and has never even tried again. It was so easy to train him not to pull with the harness. With a collar, he would pull me over, considering he outweighs me by 30 lbs!
i bought the Easy Walk Harness for my 2 year old dog the other day..... from the moment we put it on, i saw a complete change in her behavior..... She walks with me like a SHOW DOG now (note: i have trained her extensively in proper HEALING behavior, and so the harness was the missing ingredient)..... This system really does work - it's like a MIRACLE
@Caninefan999 It's nothing fancy, just a front clip harness. You should NEVER pull on your dog's neck.. Never use any sort of training device on the neck like that as it can and will cause irreversible damage. I work for a pet health food/supply store and I'd say there is roughly a 95% success rate with these harnesses(Most customers claim they have tried just about everything: Check/choke, prong martingale collars included.. also, they're more comfy than the haltis.). No touch/jerk involved!
Does any know if this harness is ok to use on a 5mth old puppy. I have a border collie who at the moment pulls on the lead, however i cant address that at the moment with training as i am still trying to get him to walk past cars without him lying down or sitting when they pass! Then he pulls like mad especially when we approach home!! If anyone has any tips i would be truely grateful!!
I have an Australian Shepherd. I know they require lots of exercise, but taking him out was always a nightmare. He's well-behaved in the house, but outside, the dog is a terror. I've tried the whole "don't move until he turns to look at you" and the "direction change" method, but it seemed to be a hopeless case. Today I bought this item at Petsmart, and I used it for the first time tonight. No pulling! I He was so much easier to work with! I'll have him leash-trained in no time.
@Caninefan999 Because old school dog training methods have been out ruled for quite a while, and it makes the dog a ticking time bomb, afraid of everything.
Two weeks ago I adopted an 8 month old boxer. She has very little training and is HORRENDOUS on the leash. I immediately enrolled her in training class and by week 2 it was clear that we needed an intervention. A walk around the block with her classmates was painful. She is so much stronger than my Rottweiler who was twice her size. We put the harness on her and like magic the pulling stopped instantly! She didn't even try to pull. Now we can concentrate on training instead of restraining
I have a American Bulldog that can bend 2" iron pipe clothes line poles by pulling a rope attached to it. I've been using the Easy Walk harness for almost 8 months without a problem. I usually just attach his lead to my belt when he’s on the EWH & can walk around in a crowd of people with him & not a single problem with him pulling me. People constantly come up to me a remark how a well behaved my dog he is on the leash. I tell'em its the harness & a few minutes of training. Love it!
From the second we tried this on in the pet store it worked... the staff all commented on how she was a different dog walking in vs. walking out. It's miraculous, I love it, and I am optimistic that after a few months to a few years of being accustomed to walking near me instead of pulling me ahead she will be able to go without... but if not, that's okay too. She doesn't mind the thing at all, and I can say with confidence that a small child could walk her no problem now. Great product.
I have read/watched/attended COUNTLESS educational materials on dog training, am very knowledgeable about the subject, and have the time/patience to work on leash training, and HAVE with my 9mo. boxer/aussie mix... and it all goes out the window when we're in the pet store, in a crowd, or with a bunch of new people. I do wait until she stops pulling to walk, I do use the corrective chain (correctly!!), I do positive reinforce... and some dogs just don't and won't get it until they're older.
This is such a great video to showcase the easy walk harness. My dog Molly always pulls on a leash with a collar. She is like a different dog on the easy walk.
@ZW4929 Exactly! Tis all about the training not the tool.
@sarolite The dog shouldn't even get to the pulling like a tank stage, if you teach them correctly you'll never have them at the end of the lead. Funny how little dogs generally get away with pulling and hardly ever seen using any of these gadgets simply due to their smallness.
I have a question, I bought one last week and its really great, but will de dog learn not pull the leash despite he use a normal leash? or he must use this tool for ever?
I reckon most dogs can be taught to heel and walk nicely on an ordinary leash but it takes a lot of patience and it can be very difficult to remain calm and patient when walking a dog that constantly pulls.
On it's own, I don't think the harness will teach anything. It simply makes it easier for you teach your dog.
You've had this easy walk harness for 5 months now. What do you think of it?
@ZW4929 I think that the main reason to use a harness like this versus a traditional collar or even prong collar would be the size of your dog. The amount of force it takes to pull back a 100-pound dog is counter-productive to your health, your dog's health, and the training process. This has the same result in a gentler way.

@Caninefan999 Why does everyone these days believe they're dog experts because they've watched a few t.v. shows?
