The deceased being the blackbird ascending home (Depending on what you believe spiritually, heaven) A lot of it reflects the emotions the living feel over the newly deceased. I guess in your case, it could mean the loss of your bf's love and that he hopes you can find happiness somewhere else. Hope this helped.
