ha ha there wernt many negroes living in america in the 1950's mate, and the ones that did live there usually did as they were told, hence the kkk,lol
Make sure you pull out your tools and crank every bolt on your bike before your ride it, every time you ride it so that your threads get stripped within a few weeks.
7:08 actually bikes have the right of way. fucking old dumbass didnt stop at a stop sign lol
also going to fast is harder to control? no shit, but you have to do it lol. and nobody is going to tighten every spoke lmao! or anything of that shit
Was this sponsored by Schwinn? Does anyone know why Schwinn went from being high quality, but slightly overengieered, bikes to heaps of crap that make even Huffy's look well built.
If you're curious about Schwinn, they went bankrupt in 2001 after buying GT, and Schwinn/GT was purchased at auction by Pacific cycles, who has been trying for the "Most lawsuits incurred from manufacturing carelessness" award since it was founded. So any Schwinn bought after 2001 isn't really a Schwinn at all, but rather a department store Pacific with a fallen giant's logo attached.
That video was almost ten minutes long, it had good advice, without a word about helmets. All you hear today is "wear a helmet".
I like this video because it shows how not to get hit by a car, without wearing a helmet.
A helmet isn't going to help you iof you get squished under the wheels of a car.
You remember being a kid before the helmet was invented? Someone would always say "stay on the right side of the road". Today the one-liner is "wear a helmet".
the spokes are tight? why is he losening them then???

People still act like idiots when riding bikes. I'm surprised there aren't more injuries in the US and Canada, actually.
Yes, bikers, stop signs and intersection rules apply to you too!

What useful video, mainly in todays times.
I see very much older people in traffic as they are riding as people in this video.
One of the best videos on youtube.

Solid info all around. Still relevant. I might add side/spoke reflectors to the list of night gear. Outside of that, it's perfect.

Would be nice if there is a shorter, modern version for today's time poor audience.

I do believe you're right AviationMetalSmith. And some Bicycle Messangers would do well to listen to that "Look out for the other fellow" message.
Also, I like that it mentions taking care of your bike. Most kids trash their bikes, then demand new ones.
I don't believe this video is outdated at all. Good manners, safety, and responsibility never go out of style.
