I wish I had one. I wouldn't have any real practical use for it, but it is so cool that it doesn't matter. 14 years later and it still looks futuristic!
@MrTechdude1 The eMate 300 has a CRT adapted screen, CRTs use static [as you can probably tell by putting your hand in front of a CRT tv and its all fuzzy and static] and that static can sense more easily making touchscreen CRT or CRT-like devices more touch sensitive. But all the new touchscreen electronics use LED which has no static, meaning its a little less touch sensitive than old CRT devices.
two lcd touch screens do not work the same way as CRT touch screens at all take heat sensitive touch screens also known as captive touch screens they work via heat from your finger and they are highly sesnative and supourt

Ha lol I got one of those new in the box 3 years ago for use at school.
I had to build some new batteries but other then that my emate has been working great. But the hinge problem that happens from opening it over and over again will be a problem unless I put in a washer to prevent the video cable from being cut...
can this thing send to printers? or go online in anyway? does it need an old os to send info to the computer? i have access to old pc old macs new macs and new pcs i would like to know what i can use it on. I recently bought one on eBay and ive began to wonder how much i can really do with the little thing.
Be forewarned - the 2010 date issue is a bitch if you do not have something to install the fix, like an adapter, just trust me, they should be giving these away free on the eeBs, but there are a lot of greedy sellers wanting silly prices for basically Bootstrapped eMates and MP 2100's, 2000's. You have to spend some additional time and effort on the net with a dated, badly managed UNNA archive mess of cryptic crap and...its just frustrating... looks all cool here... but in 2010, good luck.
@mistyfur514 no, these didnt come with WiFi back in '97. Its possible to get on the internet with this and the 2k's but you need a PCMCIA card and a few extensions I think. BUT, you'll be only able to enjoy simple text only webpages, you know, those old mobile websites. Some of which are still up. But it will be slow. I can only see the MP's/eMates for use in few ways - for GTD/PIM purposes, note taking, writing, outlining, quick hand notes. Still can work! But its not an iPad level device.
is there anyone that has an emate or an newton left or does anyone know where are good places to buy them ?

Newton OS was so underrated. I'd like to have a Newton or eMate to play around with, but I know after a while it would just gather dust. :P
*Looks for a Newton OS Emulator*

Man, that's so neat. I had one but sold it a long time ago and wish I hadn't. It's a collector's item definitely!
