Also try opening the hi hats up with the snare drum on 2 or 4 then closing them up on the following beat (1 or 3). Phil Collins does this in abacab. Or you can play a sixteenth note hi hat beat and open them up on the a of 1 and 3.
Oh yeah, I realize they are adjustable. But my upper rod is almost 2 feet long and no matter how I adjust it sticks up about a foot and a half cause I like my hihat low. I ended up cutting the bottom of the rod and using a Die to re-thread it with the proper threads. Now its all good...
The 3rd I always considered a Disco beat,& the 5th should be "The Crunge "his demeanor is a little Thorazine like,If I were to take lessons he would be a strong candidate for an instructor
well that thing is that I ahve a Simmons SD5K, and when I hit the hi hat closed, it opens sometimes without my foot being off the pedal, and this so annoying for me, while playing run to the hills, everlong, etc... (you know all that songs that you use a lot the hi hat closed).
I've had the same prob for some time. I think you need to loosen ur hi hat, and then grab the pole in the middle (got no idea what its called), and twist it a bit.. after some time, it should get a little tougher to twist, and when it does that, try closing ur hi hat and play again :P worked for me
its interesting to see what people think blast beats are outside metal music. a blast beat is a single stroke roll between your kick drum and snare, with a cymbal, for example, the ride, matching your kick drum. speed them up fast enough, and you'll be george kollias. :)
blast beats are essentially working with your fingers in order to play in unison with the bass drum hi hat (or ride) and the snare drum. good tip is just to start off slow go to guitar center and get the evolution iof blast beats book. good luck to you...
omg so much easier

i would find this more effective if they could stay on the camera's angle of the hit-hat, isn't that what all this video is about?
FabioFalzarano 5 months ago
Did you bu a special small (short) hihat rod or did you cut a normal one?
