Your hair is so beautiful and shiny no matter how you wear it. It looks like you never needed a relaxer in the first place. Your locs are gorgeous as well.
I just wanted to try something new. Most importantly, I wanted to be natural. I never knew I wanted to be natural until I was fully tex'd and realized the difference between my tex'd hair and natural hair was soooo small. I figured it was just time to leave the relaxer/chemicals alone. Best decision ever. Almost 2 years Natural/Loc'd.
Beautiful healthy hair journey!! Your loc's/coils are HAWT! Really SILKY! Let me check our your channel NOW, to see your progression over a year later! :-)
I know I'm really late with responding (my academic/professional endeavors are huge), however a texlax is relaxer that either is left on for a very short time or weakened (with oil/conditioner). For example, when my hair was tex'd, I'd use "Just for Me" mild relaxer on my hair for 4-5 min then quickly wash it out. So although your hair is relaxed, it is typically thicker, stronger and looks like a mix of relaxed & natural hair. Hope that helps.
My waist length journey was a very low maintenance routine. I was basically hands off. I would wash it almost daily and put it in a bun. I also didn't use any heating appliances. I think I was heat-free for over 2 years at that point (no curlers, flat irons, blow dryers, sit under dryers).
I think this is the best transition I have seen to date. a wonderful decision on ur part and it just all seemed to flow together naturally .... or was that the editing lol...good job either way.
What products do you use , because im thinking of relaxing my hair . 2 show my mum RELAXED HAIR CAN GROW !!! So was just wondering what products do you use ??
Wat was your schdual for moisterizing and do you leave your hair in a hairbow and moister the tips or do you take everything out and moister by sections???
Texlaxing is pretty much underprocessing the hair. You leave the relaxer on for less than the recommended time. Some people put oil like olive oil in the relaxer which will weaken it. The purpose of texlaxing is to leave some of the natural hair texture left so the hair wont be bone straight. Its pretty much similar to texturizing the hair.
@nichill18 i understand that. i wasn't that young but i started at 13 & don't remember my natural hair's text but my sis is natural, her hair didn't do well with relaxers but its been a month since my last relaxer & i want to go natural but...well i know its a commitment & i'm just not good with those so i'm tryin to wait until i'm 110% sure i can do it.
I just really kept it simply. I would wear a bun most days and co-wash every couple days. Conditioner was my best friend in keeping my hair moisturized along with deep conditioning. I haven't used any heating appliances in over 3 years so that helped as well!
