teakwon do is all kicks and show it jumps more towards the sports aspect then the martial arts. the teakwondo that goes to the Olympics is not the same as traditional taekwondo. but its still good i myself am a shotokan person :0)

it depends where you live. I found out west karate was more popular so whenever someone saw a martial art they immediately thought karate. I find that even now out east where i live people still associate taekwon-do with karate even if it's more popular out here than karate.
