i've seen those vids, you still shouldn't compare the Jeep wrangler with the X5 tho, they arn't even in the same class, the wrangler was designed to be all out utility vehicle, theres a reason why the designed the doors to be able to be removed and carpets removed, not to mention allowing water to flood into the interior of the jeep, the X5 is a luxury suv, not even in the same category

That X5 is all wheel drive. Any BMW with an "X" in the model name is AWD. The last 3 BMW's we've had are AWD's. Two X5's and currently a 328xi. Besides not being a true 4x4, the street tires don't really help out that much in the mud. =]

I don't second that. There are many factors, not just the brand. If the X5 had decent tires it would have made it through that mud-hole. Put crappy tires on any car and it can't do anything. The Mercedes-Benz M, GL, and G classes can take on a Jeep anyday, especially the G Class.
People who buy those cars usually drive to Shopping centres on weekends. Besides, Take out all the electronic features that enable german/british vehicles to go off road and the jeep will prevail. Jeep keeps it sinple. I dont give an eff if i have electronic hill assist, i replace it with my foot on the brake.
X5 designed for driving on highways and Lawns, Jeep Wrangler can go almost everywhere.
Professionally adapted Wrangler (with large clearance and both differential locking system in axles) goes almost like an ATV (Arctic cat, Polaris,BRP).
my sister just got one of the brand new x-5's and she thinks that itll hang with my 89 wrangler (four inches of lift and mt tires) off road hahahahaha stupid girl.

what idiot would take an X5 offroad? don't get me wrong X5s are good cars, but they're more like fat Saloon/Sedans than SUVs
