@rolonte2010 The ignition switch will not affect the dash back lighting. It could affect the dash warning lights but if this were the case you would have a lot more issues.
I have a 2003 Envoy and this fixed the problem. I never would have dreamed it was the ignition switch. I did however replace the blower resistor first thinking that would solve the problem which began by #5 blower setting not working. Then no # 1,2,3,4, went out. About that time the ABS and brake idiot lights came on and after watching this video I knew what to do. Sure does save a lot of money by not taking it to a service dept. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!
Of course many things can be possible but I would want to test the system. The best way would be to start at the blower resistor connector. I have a detailed article that I posted on Feb 2, 2010. It is on my main site Sparkys-Answers com
Sparky, What are the odds that this could cause an int no blower inop without any other indicator lights in the DP lighting. I have a TB that has int inop main blower but rear heat works and have already replaced the motor and resistor module. what are your thoughts
Your video is great. I have my 02 trailblazer with same problem except that my blower works but passenger and rear blowers only emit heating air (as the heater was on) no matter what temperature I set. I'm gonna deffinatly try the ignition test first. Think it might be same problem? Thanx
@lucho3410 Testing is definitely the thing to do but I would suspect that the ignition switch is not the issue. Blower control and actuator control both originate at the same circuit in the ignition switch. You stated your blower works. If the mode or driver's temp actuators are working that would rule out a blown fuse and I would think that you are looking at faulty actuator for the passenger side and the rear system. If they do not work check fuses 36, 39 and 44 in the rear fuse box.
Nice vid, i have the same problem with mi GMC SONOMA 2001, i will try to do the same and i hope it works. Could you tell my where is the OBD2 connector for my truck? i repeat its a GMC SONOMA 2001 and i can`t find it, can you tell me where it is? Thank you.
@toliro9 It is under the driver's side of the dash. Many times the lower dash cover has been removed and reinstalled and it will be tucked up in the dash somewhere. Some people are too lazy to bolt it back where it is supposed to go.
@SparkysAnswers Sparky thanks a lot, the connector was under the carpet thats why i couldnt find it. My truck has the same problem, the ABS and BRAKE lights are on and i think its the same problem of this truck but what is the name of that black square that you removed, how can i find it and where? I will thank your answer.
@SparkysAnswers So what could be the problem? i have the BRAKE & ABS lights on and sometimes when i start the truck in the morning the lights are off but not even 5 minutes turned on again, what could be the problem?...
@toliro9 More than likely you have an actual ABS issue that needs to be diagnosed. I would start by checking or having the ABS system checked for codes.

So, Im currently having this issue but to add my Service AWD light comes on. To see if the turn switch to go from 2LO to AWD worked, it didnt, the light just keeps on blinking. Then the the ABS and Brake light chime in again.... its a pain. I plan to def. replace the ignition switch but should you recommend something else?
@mriley1223 It is such a simple test, that I recommend doing that first, to confirm it is the cause of at least some of your issues. It may help with the 4WD problem as well but there may be a completely different problem with that. Let us know how it all turns out.
Any time the ABS light is on the ABS system is disabled. This does not mean that the brakes themselves have a problem. The prudent thing to do is to test the basic brake operation and if okay, drive the vehicle with the knowledge that the ABS system will not work to help you stop in a controlled manner, during a panic stop or while stopping in inclement weather. My experience has been if the ignition switch is at fault the a/c blower motor will not be working either, during this condition.
my ABS brake light and E Brake light was on when i started my car after work and i didnt know if i was able to drive without my brakes locking up or failing on me on the road. after a few turning on and off the engine i decided to drive off and test it. right after i drove off the lights turned off. could it be the same problem here? and could i still drive my car if the lights show up? and what is blower? sorry i had to ask since this video helped me.
GM should be sued for all the faulty switches in all the trucks not covered by a TSB - this is potentially a serious safety hazard as a faulty switch can cause the truck to go dead while driving on the road.
What is the part that when you are looking directly at the key, to the right? It has a brass plunger, spring loaded pin on the top that hit the keys on the ignition switch and white plastic housing. You help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance :)
@sharonkaczmarek According to the Mitchell wiring diagrams that I use it is currently called an Ignition Lock Cylinder Control Actuator. These names change like the wind though.
@agmengo It is still very possible but I would strongly recommend some more testing. Testing can be done with a voltmeter at either the ignition switch or the blower resistor. It would be interesting to find out if this is a condition leading up to failure of the ignition switch, so please let us know what you find.
so it must be the problem on my s10 pickup, brake and abs always on while im runnin on hiway and after I drove not even 10 miles and smells burn coolant
would i have no dash lights also

Could be the faulty ignition switch if the blower is working only at #5 position and the abs and brake light is on?
Thanks and wonderful video by the way.

Sorry, but your situation is not related to this video. More than likely you have an ABS problem and a coolant leak.
