hy,

i have a few questions if is ok??

i have 4 computers diferent configurations, and want to make them to work thogether - (cluster) , i want to use them for calculation (encoding) H264

and video edit under Windows.

But i dont know how to setup to work togethder and what to know what kind of software and hardware i need for these.

My sistems are: 1.P3-1000,512RAM,Voodoo5 + 2.P4-2000, 1GB, GF 6800 Ultra + 3.C2D 4500,2GB,GF 7950GX2.

Awesome video! I notice you are using windows server 2003. I didn't think you were able to do a cluster using that os, I thought it was only Linux. How were you able to set all those computers up? I would love to learn the procedure. Can you run games on the server? How are your framerates?

Yeah me too - I use a Macbook Pro though no real time these days to play with Linux. I'm moving from IT to accounting.

But computer science will always be my real true love. Sort of.

No thanks. I just like to keep up on the latest advances. I think distributed computing is great for academia. How many colleges and universities have their computer labs on all day? Use that idle computing power for something constructive.

Check out Stanford's xgrid project. I think they have a client for Ubuntu that works with the xgrid grid.

Yeah, its interesting. I tried joining a public xgrid cluster and I ran some video rendering - it was alot faster.

They need something like that on the Windows side.

I can lon on thorugh firefox, and I figured out how to establish the network on vista, but it won't let me log on through the network connection
