  • This song is the purest , most fundamental definition of eargasm.

  • This has to be one of the best songs ever.

HOWEVER, the whole experience will always be ever so slightly marred by that fucking autotunesque flangery shite on the second line. I don't doubt Sheldon's integrity as a producer (Effloresce especially sounds top notch), but seriously- we get Mike isn't an X Factor virtuoso pitch perfect fucking vocalist, but what could've possibly been so bad about that bit that had to be covered up with a retarded whooshing sound? I mean come on!

  • anybody has the american version of Frames? there lyrics in the artwork are almost invisibles.. that was the intention? btw, this is one of the best songs ever, period. Long live Ocensize.

  • @Deadwing1411 ..except oceansize isnt around anymore they broke up. I wish they hadnt, i discovered them quite recently and theyre really good.

  • @gingerofwar97 I was absolutely gutted when I heard they broke up. It took a while to hit me before I realized I wouldn't hear another song by them ever again.

  • @gingerofwar97 They do have a new project upcoming, called ´British Theatre´. I came here because I heard just that bit of news and wanted to check out Oceansize to see if it´s any good. Not entirely convinced, but I´ll have to listen more.

  • (3) from them i strip the title extinguish and misuse and all our engraved memories are unsuccessful remedies i'm sick of papering the cracks and extinguishing the fire tracks though flawed by design i'm torn from the strife that did pile at the door but is feared no more though i once wedded her and her want was to play as another's arms held took her wanting away questions on top of questions don't think that it is too late for me unsung, untied , alive (lyrics verified by mike himself)
  • @Ethanodd1 thanks dude I appreciate it :)

  • (2) How loud this blade of grass How long til eventide The dark that shroud your loving neighbour He's the one who lit the paper While the reason's unexpressed And the sources undetermined the innocent are voiceless the voiceless are innocent should i cut that middleman just dig a hole and throw me in say a prayer to my loving saviour he's the one who lit the paper say a prayer to my loving saviour he's the one who lit the paper
  • (1) I ran a trail of fire Thru the meadow paths Guided by the river banks And trees from which they'll have me hang Keep running away from the fire Keep running away from the light Til it's gone Are all our summers At one with the ground? And everything i loved you for A trail of fire from the door That leads me to a hiding place And locking me inside
  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this song I really love this song please if you know the lyrics message me them. Thanks :)

  • 5/4 and 7/4 alternating. Complex songs that sound simple are the best kinds of songs.

  • BUY IT NOW....just did! It's a shame I didn't do it earlier...though I saw them supporting Cardiacs in 02

  • GAHHHH OCEANSIZE WHAT WERE YOU THINKING BREAKING UP! COME BACK TO US NOW! AT LEAST COME VISIT THE US, WE NEVER GOT TO SEE YOU!

  • this song is insanely good

  • RIP Oceansize....damn it i was gonna see them open for Blackfield...guess that's not happening

  • Its horrible to hear about your favorite band breaking up. damn..

  • RIP..

I love this band so, so much....

  • This is my favourite Oceansize track. And will always be. No more new stuff coming. RIP Oceansize.

  • such great music. I wish these guys had more success but I guess not enough people pay for music anymore. Such a shame.

  • @Jeffero28 succsess doesnt mean a thing. im glad theyre not another shitty band for the radio.

  • @thychaos Sure it does. Monetary success is very important..not radio play. If bands can't pay the bills they have to get regular jobs which means they have to spend 40 hours a week NOT making music. They don't need to be rich but it would be nice if people would buy their albums if they really enjoy the music.

  • @Jeffero28 I have to agree... I'll admit that I jack music, but it is mostly for experimenting purposes... If I end up really liking a band, I go out and buy the album. A lot of really good music has been lost because the artists couldn't even get off their feet..

  • The main pattern so far is 7/8 (x3) and then 3/8 (x1) for a total of 24 8th note "beats." Then the middle seems to be 6/4 followed by 7/4 interspersed with 5/4, which is still just a highly syncopated 6/4. Then at the end they use some of the opening pattern before going back to the middle one yet again. It's all over the fucking place, yet completely smooth and cohesive. That requires MAJOR talent. Gentle Giant would be proud.

  • Fuck, I am so glad I discovered this band for myself yesterday. So. Fucking. Glad.

  • @spulian so glad you did. these guys are so underrated.

  • Fucking GREAT song

  • 3:51 > 4:11 = fucking mindbending. Just when you think Oceansize have *gasp* gone into straight 4's, you realize everything's drifting away....

  • Can't wait for this to arrive, gonna be awesome :D

  • 7/4 5/4

    ..

    1234567 12345

  • @oldoma1 would 7/8 then 5/8 not make more sense? Given the speed of the song?

Ye gads, but I'm a picky bastard...

  • @oldoma1 Would 7/8 and 5/8 not make more sense? Given the speed of the song?

  • lovin' it

  • Mann, dieser Aufbau diese Intensität, flipp fast jedesmal aus wenn ich diesen Song höre, sooo geil

  • @ungived Whoops, you're right on all counts XD. I guess i made an imcomplete analysis eh? For some reason my brain thinks the parts at 2:00 and 3:29 are really short and don't count or something. Oh well. Fantastic song though.

  • @forscyvus

No worries! I just find it a bit strange that so many people are not hearing correctly how the song goes...

And yes, this song is truly immense!

    Cheers!

  • I think it's mostly in 12/8 that's divided into a measure of 7/8 then a measure of 5/8, but in the middle of the song it goes into 5/8 exclusively until the climax when it returns to 12/8.

  • @forscyvus

The song does not go exclusively until the climax in 5/8.

In my previous comment I mapped out the whole song, and those 5/8 bars or 10/8 (witch is basically the same depending on how you feel the pulse of the song) are "interrupted ". After each 4bars of 10/8 (or 8bars of 5/8) they switch to 6/8... they do this cycle 4 times! And then yes, the climax in 12/8!

    By the way , below I mapped 1x6/8 twice in a row. Correction: it's obviously 4x10/8 - 1x6/8 and then 29x12/8 ... and 1. Final.

  • @forscyvus

What about all those measures in 13/8 at 2:00... and 7/8 at 3:29...?

    Those count as well...

  • ...26x12/8 - 7x13/8 - 12x12/8 - 24x7/8 - 1x10/8 - 1x6/8 - 4x10/8 - 1x6/8 - 4x10/8 -1x6/8 - 4x10/8 - 1x6/8 - 1x6/8 - 4x10/8 - 29x12/8 - ...and 1

Better than counting this off, just listen and enjoy the Music people...

  • lol, i love how oceansize fans actually know something about music. go you guys, you should be proud of yourselves! haha

  • I invented a drinking game. You take a shot every time the time signature changes in this song. Beware: you get shit-faced pretty fast

  • @AmericanDiplomat

The great thing is that it isn't disturbing the flow of the song in any way. It sounds completely natural and unforced. But maybe that's just because I've listened to this song a whole lot by now :-)

  • @AmericanDiplomat Or everytime one misses the 'headbang' or beat on each change of time signature ;)

  • @AmericanDiplomat you have weak tolerance PUSSSAY

  • @AmericanDiplomat You should play that game to the Rite of Spring sometime : )

  • @AmericanDiplomat funny that you say that, because i count 12 quarter-notes in each measure through the whole song. they're just distributed in a weird way :D

  • awesome !!

  • I know that it isn't important, but is the intro just 3 measures of 7/8 and 1 of 3/8 repeating?

  • it is important, that simple little time signature is different enough to make it from a repeating piano arpeggio to a beautiful song

  • Nearly the entire song is 12/8 except for a few parts in the middle where it fluctuates to 6/8 and 10/8

  • @guitarfreak1920 actually I'm pretty sure most of it is in 7/8 going into 3/8 every 4th bar

  • @guitarfreak1920 then in the middle it goes into 5/4 with a couple 3/4 bars in the middle

  • @whatever534231

    exactly

  • It is!

  • so fking great!!love it!

  • I will

  • they're so good !

  • <33333

  • This actually sounds like the unmastered version.

  • One of the most intense "rock" genre songs i've heard. Oceansize <3
