  • Harvest is one of Neil Best albums ever, and Words is also one of his best ever songs.

It was the seventies and this amazingly bright and eccentric young man came into rock's scene like a hurricane, chanting words, and here we are in the years while he's still rocking in the free world,

    Long may you run Neil

  • God bless Neil..you never know where he's going to go on a song or when he's willing to quit playing it :-) rock on Neil Young

  • Neil you may ge tired of doing your old stuff, buts its keeping us (read as millions) sane in our darker moments. Ive loved these notes for 40 years and play them to pull me thru.

  • This is the guitar that was used exclusively on the LP Harvest. 'Words' and 'Alabama' .....

  • This is the same guitar that was used exclusively on the recording of Harvest ....

  • The White Falcon was 'traded' to Still's for a non-stereo version of the same guitar ... If you notice, Neil's is a rare stereo Falcon ... Check out the photo inside the jacket of the 'Decade' LP ....

  • Everybody seems to write appropriate things, with a lot of knowledge about this and that on music and Neil. I don't know enough to participate this big debate, i'm an old punker whatever. Yet this song is so fucking amazing, and the whole album is. And Neil is, too.

  • its incredible how true his modern performances sound. even levon helms band sound tinny and cant hold on to the organic old sounds. i think having ben keith in his band up until last year was a major factor in neils authentic sound.

  • 60k and still going strong, not bad........

  • The whit falcon given to Neil by Stephen Stills.

  • The white falcon given to Neil by Steven Stills.

  • What a great tune

  • The sound of his Gretch White Falcon just tears into my heart and turns it up to 11.

  • soundtrack to my youth, aint it amazing

  • @Irishdieselhead grew up glued to neil early 70's

  • turds.. turds..

  • 1 of Neil's epic's played ever so well on his white falcon.

  • still rockin' after all these years...

  • This is so rad! Go Neil!

  • This is insanely beatiful song. I've had some hard times lately. There are several friends who got kicked out at work etc.. It has nothing to do with Neil Young or anybody else.. But listening this made me cry my heart out.. It's just what i needed.

I always end up to listen Neil when the hard times comes..

  • @kaikenmoista well, i know what you mean, especially lately. My uncle killed himself this past christmas, this song, or everybondy needs a maid works for me. Also for hard times I love China Doll by the Dead, "its only fractured from the fall". Hope you find peace. its better to go fm crazy then am crazy. peace

  • insane....so beautiful it hurts.

  • This is insane. So beautiful, it hurts...

  • Happy birthday Neil, for Decades of Magic we thank you.

    Long may you run.

  • ben keith on steel guitar rip...he will be missed by fans, and especially by neil

  • Has anyone posted the Red Rocks vid with Neil doing "Words" on youtube? It is spine tingling to say the least, I love it so much.

  • LOL He gets a bit irritated at that chord right near the end! 9:45

  • One of the best versions of Words I've heard from Neil! Ageless!

  • @curiousgeorge555 agree,we were in pit and that song is a memory for life.

  • @rory5877 I imagine it is. Magical

  • R.I.P. Ben Keith :(

  • @LawlessGreed

Ben Keith RIP - I didnt know. v sad

    Crazy Horse for ever

  • I can die now...

  • Neil power

  • No one has to stand only for words.

  • Genius!

Neil Young is just the best, never compromised, never sold out, still angry - a real rock legend.

  • between the line of age...

  • this song sounds weird at first but after you listen to it a few times it grows on ya... absolutely out of this world...

  • I can't understand this song yet but I feel so many things when I hear it. I think he says something very significant undertone he needs to connect with you on the deepest possible level thru this song. Maybe a moment of loneliness, he feels bad, he can not see future. it's my favourite song from Harvest.

  • If you can ignore your audions like that you either a jerk or a brilliant musical genius. Those who understand Music no the right anwser!

  • I was at this gig and it was fantastic. Words was the most definitely one of the highlights! Thanks for putting it up.

  • The Gretsch White Falcon is a mighty guitar. Just ask Billy Duffy

  • enough said...by the guitar!

  • His voice sounds younger in recent clips than it did in the 90s. He's not transposing his songs down a step or two like he was in the 90s. It's unbelievable! He sounds great here!

  • i was at this show ....what a song ,what a show he's a music legend for a reason and this shows the reason................he's shows up todays bands.

  • powerful

  • what a song , what a version , sat on beach drinking beers all day then seen the best gig in years , this clip brings a great day back, you have my thanks for post what a day

  • aw man i fell in love with this song on that day, gave me chills right down my spine

  • this song kills me every time :-)

  • dont ever pull this.

  • amen

  • the pedal steel is beautiful in this and the original recording

  • Nice one , well done gettin that video..

  • You've gotta be f*ckin kiddin me! This is the best recording available of this unreal Neily song! I hope there is one somewhere for earth's sake!

  • GOD WITH A WHITE FALCON! most beautiful solos I've ever heard

  • a musical genius he is rock n roll hold on tight

  • he played this last night and it was magic, but this version was surreal,a Genius,a brilliant 2 hours and a privilege to be there,

  • The old songs are still the most powerful, but Neil as a performer has lost none of his power.

  • awesome!!!!

  • Words is the most favorite song of my his list . deep meaning and intimate ryhme..

  • einfach gigantisch geil und abgefuckt!

  • GREAT !!

    5 Stars from Germany !

  • He sang the 1st verse twice!!! "Someone and Someone were down by the pond..."

"If I was a junkman, selling you cars...."

  • Words sung Live by Neil on his Road Rock Album is performed well. This song is in my Top Ten Neil songs of all time.

  • I was there, the whole gig was beautiful, Words just gives me goosebumps, don't listen to any negative comments about his performance at Malahide, absolutely sublime. Ths sun came out in the evening and shone on us all, god bless ya Neil, peace

  • you couldnt have summed it up any better, i had a few beers on the beach then went in to the castle to see a legend do his stuff ,does nt get any better, what a day and the sun shone brightly

  • thanks for outlastin bon scott mthrfkker !!

  • c'mon man, fair crack. Neil outlasted Bon for 1 simple reason 'moderation'. It sux i know AC/DC died with Bon imo as well, but let's not hold that against a "living legend".

  • neils' my favorite.

don't ever want him to go tits up.

    bon bummed me out -

    fk it, it's only noise

  • Neil playing his White Falcon...

    You can't get much better...

    This is so deep...

    Great video, good sound

  • Is this the same falcon he had in the 60s? If yes, nice. Saw him in Winnipeg last year and he gave his black Gibson a bit of an ass kicking. I was suprised to see him rip the strings off as he did, but glad to have been a witness :)

  • Ya Neil Usually uses only "Old Black" for all his electric stuff, with Words being an exeption.

  • Not strictly true. I'm nearly sure all the Buffalo Springfield is played on the Gretsch and things like Everybody knows this is nowhere is also played on this beast. Correct me if wrong.

  • Ya Old Black was not in Buffalo Springfield, But i think its used for Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, I think it might just depent on what Neil is feeling that night

  • He used his Gretsch White Falcon for all of his electric guitar playing on Harvest, but that was because the Les Paul's weight was aggravating his back injury so he used the lighter GWF.

  • I doubt that Les Paul woulda been much good for Harvest anyways. From what I've heard it's vertually imposible to play anything under a thousand decibels on it and keep it audible

    x

  • True, Old Black wouldn't have been clean enough to use on Harvest

  • His guitar just singssss

  • My favourite song on Harvest! I dedicate this song to my mom who visited Dublin Castle from Canada. She even drank Tim Horton's coffee in Dublin, a Canadian favourite!!

  • you can't dedicate someone else's youtube to your mom.

  • Neil is king damn so so beautiful...

  • tHIS IS SO FUCKING HEAVY

  • For me, THE most beautiful song in the world.

Since the seventies, I became this song. I love you Neil.

  • i was in the pit for this,it was magic, words cannot explain.

  • @Musemute for me too this is the best song ever since i heard it the first time when i was a kid

  • grate video man its gone to my favorite list check my videos of neil young as i was in the pit aswell. i was in disguise as elvis.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!!! Malahide was so special peace to everyone in the pit with me too who made the event even more glorious. you know who you are x Oh and thanks to mother nature for keeping the sun shining and the rain away. Love ya Neil!

  • Yes, thanks for posting Colin, but had the weirdest experience tonight, was in Cineworld in Parnel Street saw the man himself coming out of a movie, followed him outside and he was escorted into the back of a Chauffer driven silver Merc !
