Okay, I enjoy all the Yamato movies but I can't stand it any longer... I have to nitpick here! The ship gets the crap beaten out of it; the fires indicate multiple hull breeches. However after a few minutes all the fires end AND THE SHIP GOES ON LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG. Did the ship heal itself? lol....At least in the first Yamato series they did stop for repairs and showed outside robots fixing ruptures in the hall. In this movie...no talk of repairs or forcefields, no robots, etc
I think its a good show but its hard to get over the name yamato. I mean the ship is always fighting stronger ships and they are nobel, even get upset when they are tricked in a sneaky way. meanwhile the real yamato was the most powerful ship ever built and it was sunk by weaker ships when outnumbered. also at the time of ww2 the japs were the ones who tricked people and sneak attacked them while in peace talks. I wish they would have started from scratch with a new name instead of the yamato.
dont forget the way the japs torchured the chinese and were on the nazis side. they did to the chinese the same as the germans did to the jews so this ww2 themed show giving kids the idea that the crew of yamato was kind and human is really disturbing. I like the cartoon for the entertainment value but I come from a military familly and lost people in ww2 so its weird to see yamato as the good guy. I mean facts are facts it not like its a diffent point of view, these are historical facts.
I love this show, I grew up on this show. But I hate to say it, you do have a strong point. Imagin if the cartoon was based on a german ship. SPACE BATTLESHIP BISMARK! That's just as twisted.
@jerseyassasin1975 You are right. That's the reason Yamato doesn't get imported to other Asian countries. They hate the name "Yamato" meaning "Japan." But the Yamato producers meant to make it look back their own bad history and not repeat the evil. I just don't understand why the Japanese war animes are anti-American. USA saved Japan from her own insanity, you know.
Yes, this version is pretty bad, especially even in very emotional, important part. You should look for another "Be Forever" version for correct understanding of this movie.
i thought they were so screwed in that fortress place but it was sooooo coool how they got out! awesomeness!!! but i seriously wouldnt want that creep touching me. i feel so bad for yuki!

That was slick how the starforce pull up along side Grotos ship and fired the wave motion missiles. Space Cruiser Yamato will never age.
