  • Really great work.

  • What camera did you use for this? Did you use a DOF adapter?

  • wow what a great idea for a movie

  • the concept of this isn't like toy story at all. not in the slightest bit. advent "creative"? Hmm.

  • I appreciate this so much, good job

  • ..how'd you guys manage to wreck the mini cooper? :-P Did you flip it or run into something?

  • We wrecked the mini cooper on the last shot of the intro (the crane shot with the title). We told the driver to take the turn as sharp as he could. We didn't have time to relocate to a real street corner so we told him to pull into the drive way and pretend he was turning the corner onto another street. Well, as he turned it got out of control and slammed into the curb/ mailbox. It cracked both rims (front and back) and caused roughly $1500 of damage. P.S. it was also his birthday. Sad.

  • WOW, nice job.

  • i can see why you guys won!!

  • dang I can see why you guys won. Are you guys allowed to re-enter this year?

  • I am not sure if we are allowed to re-enter or not, but regardless.....we are NOT re-entering. There is another team this year that is claiming to be the "Advent Creative" team. But they are not us. I don't know why they copied our name. Anyway, GOOD LUCK!!!! Its a BLAST!!!!!!

  • they cancelled it this year so hopefully next year...

  • we are allowed to re-enter but i don't think we will. we are just too busy with work. we are working on a T.V. show and a film for sundance.

  • lol for real. this is hella creative

  • how did you make it?

  • How did we make it? Well, that is pretty broad but to summerize... We met early that Saturday morning to come up with the idea. There was a toy helicopter on the table and quickly developed a story around it. I had connections with a helicopter pilot and when he found out about it he jumped on board. It took us every second of those 24 hours to finish. During the shoot our lead actor threw up many times, we had a mid day rewrite on the script and we wrecked the mini cooper. Good times:)

  • wow that was amazing... where did u get the helicopter??

  • sooooooooooooooooooo tight!

  • Go Aggies! Good job guys.

  • I just noticed now that you commented on our entry for the Apple contest. Thanks for the compliment. Your video was great too and obviously worth one of the top prizes!

  • LOVE IT!

  • Congratulations on such an amazing film! This has been named a winner by the Scathing Reviewer from the film fest!

    XD

  • Anyone who doesn't give this five stars is ridiculous. I'd give it ten if I could. Great job!

  • wow...awesome concept! at first I honestly thought it was really cool but cheesy, but then it all comes together.

"well, uh...welcome to the crew, hope you enjoy it"

  • sooo good. Really well made. You should have won. That crane shot almost made me soil myself. Hobopus....more like homopus right?!?! right?!?! neway...really good. I think it's been done before a lot but your version is the best.

  • Wow, you guys did a good job making this. You got my vote.

  • Hey guys! Excellent work out there! You're making Logan proud. You guys have got this contest won hands down. It's really not even a competition anymore. I bet a lot of people were ticked off when they saw yours!

We need to get together sometime...we say that all the time, but we need to actually do it!

  • Good execution. Wish concept was little more original. ToysRus has same theme. Given how ambitious you were with action, full length entry would have been good, cutting down minute of end credits.

Hard to say you'll be underdog with judges :) Regardless, good luck to you. I think you have a great portfolio piece. I would certainly consider you for professional work. Where are you located?

Mine is titled "Go Time" on the apple site if you get a chance to check it out. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your comment. I still haven't seen the ToysRus commercial though I've heard about it. We had never seen anything like this except for maybe toystory. Oh well, I guess I should watch more TV:)

We are located in Logan Utah. We all attend Utah State University.

-I checked out your film and Loved it. Well done. There were other films that followed a similar concept but I thought yours was by far executed the best.

  • Great job guys! Your video is incredible for only 24 hours! My other favorite is Fish out of Water. Pretty funny! Check it out if you get a chance.

  • Cameron Moll (A very creative designer/writer) once quoted Gerry McGovern (Web copy writing guru) who once wrote: "Novice writers often make two mistakes: they think they need to be entirely original, and they think they need to wait for "inspiration." Take it from the pros for most kinds of writing, originality and inspiration are overrated."

Replace the instances of "writers" and "writing" in this quote with "Screen Writers" and "Movie Producing" and the message is the same: copy, don't create

  • It seems that most of the people who are ripping on this short, are giving off a vibe of jealousy.

Personally I have not seen this concept done before, but even if it has been, there are many great films that entail stories that are retold for younger generations or maybe shed a different light on a certain subject.

  • I watched a tv show with the exact same plot. I think you ripped it off that. But pretty cool with the helicopter. Unfortunately we had the budget of $0 so we couldnt get anything like that. What did you use to edit? Also, check out Sleepwalking. Its the one i entered. Great Job.

  • that was pretty amazing

    for only 24 hrs

  • Awesome! I love it. Check out Mr. Radio Tuner if you get a chance.

  • Whoa--very nice, guys! Great job!!

  • pretty impressive

the production's amazing, but i've seen the idea used before.

pretty sick that you were able to incorporate a helicopter into your movie.

if you want to check out a funny one, check out "Fat Chance"

  • The movie was well put together in the small time frame allotted. I think the fact that this group only paid for pizza and soda was amazing, considering the amount of resources that went into the entire project. Creativity, Quick-thinking, a great script, and some very kind volunteers turned this into a fantastic creation! Great job fellas! You get 5 out of 5 stars from me.

  • Hey guys i'm in the contest as well but damn!!!!! this is awesome!!!

  • i am wildly impressed with the production value of this movie. did you guys do all of that in 24 hours?

this movie isn't the same scale, but you should check out "Rudy Talcom"

  • Yes, we did do it all in 24 hours. When we all arrived at 7am we had no idea what we were going to be filming. I think it turned out okay. I'll be sure to check out Rudy Talcom. I'm sure its amazing! Thanks for your comment. Good Luck!

  • haha this is pretty awsome!!,

my brother is in this festival too.

check it out and leave a comment of what you think.

its "The Perfect Heist" by biotch90210

  • Nice job guys...this really proves Utah film making rocks! Hopefully we'll see you in the top 25. Good luck!

  • Yeah... we have that problem with "Eurydice" too. I think you can get it to work by clicking on the photo embed instead of the button.

You guys are hilarious. This really has a chance.

  • Oh no...our video wont play in the apple gallery. Is anyone else having this problem?

  • CHeck out Sleepwalking for a good one.

  • ummm so i thought there were some pretty cool things going on in this... but really??? if i had a freaking helicopter to use i would have done something way cooler than landing in a grass field...lol... maybe you would win if you blew it up... yall should check out "undies" thats my fave so far!

  • Great job! Really well done openning sequence. Great editing. Anyway, thanks for the comment on our film "My Name is Robin Darjeeling."

  • lol

    howd u make that soundtrack?

  • We purchased some royalty free music.

  • Isn't that specificly against the rules since the music was required to be made in the 24 hour period?

  • I was attempting to reply to the comment about purchasing royalty free music.

  • allot of people used the royalty free music that they purchased with imovie or final cut. other people choose to compose their own royalty free music. all of these things are within copyright law.

  • that was really amazing!

  • Definitely one of the top films.

Check out our submission "Every Night - Apple Insomnia Film Festival 2007" and tell us what you think.

  • Wow - great action film - and a helicopter. Check out our submission CHECKMATE.

  • Very interesting

  • Wow! where did you guys get a helicopter?!?! I worked on the Spread The Love film, the zombies in love one. I really liked your film though. Great job! Do you guys have any other films? All the best!

  • Unfortunately the helicopter was not ours, but a local pilot in town owed us a favor, and was excited to be in our movie. We liked your movie, too! Best of luck!

  • You guys are incredible! What was your budget?

  • honestly, the only expense was our pizzas and donuts in the morning; pretty much everything else was volunteers and friends.

  • That was great, guys. Yours is the first entry I've seen (other than ours), that was really entertaining.

And I've watched a lot of these so far.

  • great jb guys, i entered as well, buy you have my support goin in

  • Really dope, well made and good concept too.

  • holy cow.... that was intense. crazy that you shot all that in 24 hours. nice.

  • Hey thanks a lot! But seriously that was one of the best ones i have seen so far! Really creative.

  • Imagine that! A wonderfully constructed chase scene. Good stuff!
