... i was on the production crew that filmed this ... man it awesome in that room listening to these amazing songs ... they hadnt fully made it when this was filmed ... they were just about to break - BIG TIME !!! ... one of the music highlights of my life ... it was just so raw & powerful ... i can still remember being in there thinking i cant believe i am experiencing this ... pure magic !! ... :) ... oOo ...
This is when they first got famous. And for a band that just got going they sounded awesome here! The band was tight and Liam sang very good. This is my favourite Oasis live performance. The amps were turned up and great distortion!
@theclinkmusic absolutely agree - fucking incredible vocals. so much passion, a brilliant band when on form especially in the early years. Earls Court in 2005 was a highlight for me
Best band ever! Incredibly the sound on this DVD is even better than the album, how do they do that... Liam's voice is amazing. Watched them live in 2005 in Copenhagen, they didn't play Supersonic, Some Might Say, Go let it out, I Hope I think I know or D'you know what I mean - my favorite songs, but still it was a stellar performance. I will be listening to this till I die...
there's a tradition in the Indie scene that a band's prime occurs before they are commercially successful.. Perhaps not always the case but the speed, energy and drive of this little concert to a small audience in Brighton demonstrates why they became the biggest band in the UK, playing to the largest audience in history (250,000) eventually.. Paul McCartney paid Noel the compliment when he invited him round to his home of saying that he would have 'fitted right in' to the Beatles. 'nuff said!
I remember queing outside our price the morning this came out. I was the only fkr there but that certainly changed by the time there and then was released. Good times
I was gutted when Oasis split, thinking that this was the end of it all. But i cant believe all the oasis performances on youtube that i didnt even know existed, seeing them all is like hearing Oasis for the very first time all over again. In conclusion, Oasis are the fucking best
It just hit me. I have been watching a few Oasis vids tonight...mostly recent ones. I felt very little.
Then I searched this one and I instantly feel "mad fer it!!" and wanting to swagger around the room loving life. Thats the difference. This is fucking amazing.
has anyone seen FOOTBALL FACTORY?! the boys here remind me of that movie. liam noel were just like them from the rough streets of man city and dint give a fuck about nothing true working class!
now liam is just a fucking cunt about everything. you know its fucking true. oasis probably one of the best bands EVER!! and he had to go fucking ruin it! FUCKER HATE HIM FOR THAT!
liam go to your fucking clothing company you fucking cunt!
You don't realise just how good this DVD is until you put it on full blast in your living room and on surround sound, with a few beers, with some mates or on your own, and jump around the room for the whole concert and sing yourslef hoarse!
Omg, I thought I wrote this, lmfaoo. Then I remembered that I don't have this Dvd. Although I have surround sound, and it works best when Oasis is blasting, it even said so on the box :)
i was there,i had the hair,i was 15,why cant he sing anymore.glad to av been a part of it then when it was all about red stripe, coccaine, football, guitars, and thinking you were in the best band in the world.now its tea and slippers.
Quote from NME's review of Definitely Maybe back in '94: "...and those fervent, ruthless drums. The butt of many a joke, sure, but deny the brutal effectiveness of one Tony McCarroll at your peril."
That sums it up - 'brutally effective' was what Tony was.
Not being funny mate and your entitled to your opinion but Oasis now with Andy ,Gem and Chris, well you cant compare it to this,This is the original Oasis with Tony on drums, then Alan joined when they had started recording Morning Glory and the gigs that followed of 95/96 were untouchable, absolute peak then and i was at Earls court, Knebworth, Maine Road and some more recent ones,to me they dont have the appetite now a days, still brilliant though,Just my opinion.Peace.
on the bright side, it's great we can even have this conversation. I bet U2 fans wish they could talk about whether or not their band was better now than it was twelve years ago...
come on, come on, come on. I saw Oasis in Minneapolis at a theater and the crowd was so reserved and boring, my friend and I snuck right up to 2 rows back from Liam and he just crouched down and stared at us for a while since there wasn't else much to do.
mccarol was a good drummer, who worked well for that punk/rock and roll edge oasis needed in the early days..unfortunatley he wasn't good enough to adapt to the songs noel was writing ie morning glory stuff. Also I think the fact they just did'nt like him very much,i know liam could'nt stand him...and I don't think they needed that tension going forward and just made the excuse he was a shit drummer which he was'nt.
tony mccaroll had more character to his drumming--- he was a vital part of oasis's songs--- like that intro in supersonic is just so simple yet so elegant at the same time
i was sooooo excited writing this, i hit the 6instead of the 5. i think it was easter monday 1995. i was at the video shoot in the arvo too. fucking awesome. saw them after this at earls court, wasnt the same. this was the best of times. beautiful.
