  • Just gotta move your butt over to the outside of the bike. At least then you'll have a fighting chance. I tried and failed two separate occasions on my Ducati Supersport. That was before I learned to move my butt over though.

  • Can I clear a few things up? First, let's lose the mohawk. The rider is looking down at his front wheel. Look across the circle...(visual directional control). Drag the rear brake a little...(better speed control with the rear brake as opposed to the throttle). This circle can be done correctly on ANY stock bike....by me....and by anyone who practices it enough. It just looks goofy when a guy who can go 100 miles an hour can't control a tight turn. Don't hate the bike.

  • Obviously whoever designed this test never rode a sportbike which HATES to be below 4k rpms

  • this test can be passed a little easier with a 250 and down cc scooter,i practiced one hour a day for one week and passed it today, practice really helped.

  • you dudes dont even have the skills for a class c.

  • looks like you both where looking down you need to look through the turn always look at the exit point and the bike will follow through to where it needs to go

  • Now a day in California the class cost over 250 bucks and is 15 hours total.

I Own a Suzuki gsx-r and never even bothered with the exam and borrowed a buddies small 250 chopper and blazed through the course no sweat !!!

So don't go paying for no class and don't try test with no super sport which has no turn. check out my account and you'll see a video of me doing a trial run on the small 250 !! good luck

  • Need to go into the circle slower and apply rear braking, clutch, and throttle control at the same time - just sayin'.

I bypassed this test by taking the MSF class well - 12 years ago! It was a lot cheaper then - $135.00 for a 2 1/2 days course. The class was a piece of cake and YES, you do learn a lot of the basics of riding a motorcycle - especially the safety aspects of it and not just learning how to operate a motorcycle.

  • its not very hard man. look ahead thru the corners and carry steady speed, you slow and unsteady speed, you feel youll tip...keep the speed smooth and steady. and dont look down, look 4 feet ahead, and the bike will go.

  • you need to look through the turn, not ure front wheel. haha. Now i wanna go to my DMV!

  • Do you think they would let me use a klx110 for the test

  • @evilamish

I am not too sure, for one it would have to be a street legal bike (off road-only bike probably wouldn't cut it). Also I am going to guess it has to be at least 150cc.. anything <150cc is considered a scooter. To get the M1, you'd probably have to demonstrate you can ride on a regular motorcycle (150cc or greater). But call DMV and ask. Also, I recommend the MSF class. Its a great class, plus you don't have to take the DMV riding test at all as long as you pass the class!

  • @sdrob01 Well I was going to use my klr650, but then I thought It would be alot of fun if i use my klx110. I could do this course in top gear with that bike lol. After reading your comment I called dmv and they said it has to be street legal. Why do you hate me god, but thanks for the comment

  • Counter-Clockwise on the circle is fairly easy with practice on the zx6r. However, it is impossible to do the clockwise portion of the test. The handlebar turn ratio will restrict you from accelerating, thus the bike stalling. I just finished the test with a 250cc ninja, and it was a lot better

  • Yeah, slow turns are actually a lot harder than going fast around corners. It requires a lot more stability

  • People that say this should be easy probably haven't tried it on a sport bike like this. I've done this test on a gz250 & my dads Harley Fatboy with no problem. But my first few attempts on my new 2009 R6 I am having extreme difficulty making all the way around the circle without putting my foot down. But i'm sure I'll get it with a little practice.

  • I passed mine today :)!!!!!!!

  • I love when I see a rider with a mohawk helmet wipeout. It's beautiful.

  • I couldn't tell where your eyes were looking, but your head was pointed straight ahead. You should always look ahead to where you want the bike to go. Just look farther ahead into the corner and that should help.

  • If you can't make it through that course on a full sized bike without putting your foot down you don't deserve a license to ride! You need to take a reputable course so you don't hurt yourself. Learn the proper riding techniques and PRACTICE! Your life depends on it! Riding a bike is nothing to fuck around with!

  • @6boomer9 The fact I have earned a racing license means I must understand at least a few "basic riding techniques"? DMV "circle" is just plain evil. :-)

  • @sdrob01 You've got a racing license and STILL can't make that turn!!??

  • @6boomer9 Last time I checked, racing on a racetrack (or even riding the So Cal freeways) doesn't require making a 2 mph turn inside a 2 foot circle without putting a foot down. =)

  • @sdrob01 What DMV in SD is this at? I feel fucking retarded not being able to input the proper fucking words into the search bar to fucking find a DMV that does motorcycle skills testing. Holy shit, I'd appreciate it a lot... riding with no license isn't good.

  • @krazyken4

This was the San Diego main one, in Hillcrest on Normal Street. A little tricky because (not sure if you can tell) the parking lot is on a slight downhill slope, so that complicates the turn.

Been awhile since I tried it so one of these days I may go back see if I can conquer the "lollipop of doom" and the "circle"

  • the circle is the most retarded skill test ever... say a semi is about to turn right into your lane, he doesnt see you, you dont have time to break, what do you do? go in a circle twice as slowly as possible..FAIL

  • @california145 The circle test is about balance and control.....say you are in a slow turn in heavy traffic and you put your foot down (because you really can't ride) and it slips out and you and your bike go down in front of a semi....FAIL (AND DEAD)! What's retarded is kids who think they know more than experienced riders!

  • Rent a little mini dirt bike...there's a guy in San Diego who makes a nice second living doing just that. As long as it's street legal, you can ride it. Something geared really low so you can just idle through it in 1st.

  • shoulda bought skillz instead of gay helmet mohawk.

  • @miketron75

The 'hawk is no more. hah

  • I hate that circle!!! hahaha... it cost me more than a 100 bucks...

  • i had a permit before (About a year ago) but it expired.

i'm about to enroll in the rider course, do I need to take the written test again? and do I need to take it before or after? The DMV site is so confusing. And does the rider course cover everything or do I need a separate class too to get my license?

  • @Kyu1LL

I believe so.. I think you have only about 6 months to 1 year to do the "skills" portion of the test (or in the case of the rider course, get your certificate) and obtain your regular license. I think a permit expires after probably that 6-12 months.. its only supposed to be temporary. So yeah you'll prob have to take the written again!

  • @sdrob01 Right. So the written part in the ridercourse is the same as the permit test?

  • @Kyu1LL

There is no written in the ridercourse. the written is from the DMV, and gets you your permit. once you have your permit, you have 2 options to get your license: take the DMV skills (riding) test, or take the rider course and take the certificate you get from the rider course back to the DMV to get your license.

  • my '81 Honda Cm450E idles at the perfect speed to do the circle without having to play with the clutch and brake.

  • what kind of bike is that? looks like a gsx600 but I cant tell the year

  • @Mushrooman

    Chris=07 Kawi ZX6R

    Rob=08 Yamaha R6

  • @sdrob01 thank you!

  • jesus...so much easier than the IL test

  • + you learn alot from msf courses that you dont see on youtube videos.

  • well the msf class course is good and u get your m1 license easily but who has 250$ to spend on that? i sure dont ill just keep practicing till i feel like im confident enough to take the test practice makes perfect i had my permit for awhile now and ima try my best to avoid paying for the school even though it is a great class to take

  • @jdubb408 i paid $150 because im 20 yrs old. its 250 if your 21 and over.

  • @bigfootboner bahahahhahahaha, i paid zero cos it is free on military installations for acitve duty service members, and no stupid dmv circle either. lmao

  • hey sdrob01, i passed the msf class yesterday now time to buy a bike while i wait for the certificate. i learned alot of things from motorcycle riding you really dont see on youtube when you just search msf. one of the coaches had a BMW S1000RR so i took in all the advice he gave me,

  • hey sdrob01, i passed the msf class yesterday now time to buy a bike while i wait for the certificate. i learned alot of things from motorcycle riding you really dont see on youtube when you just search msf. one of the coaches had a BMW S1000RR so i took in all the advice he gave me,

  • Oh man i hate this test i can do it all perfect but when i gotto go clockwise twice in the circle i cant stay in lines. Someone got any tips plz i need my license been riding since 08 with a permit rofl...

  • yo... so ive been riding like 3 years and that circle is still a B**CH! take the MSF class, it's a good class, teach u some good stuff, even if you been riding, never hurts to keep up ur skillz... and the class is very very hard to fail. so when you pass the class, u just take the certificate to dmv and bam.. M1 license! also can often get discount on your insurance if you have taken the safety class so win-win.

  • take the MSF course. not only will you learn things and get hands on experience, you wont have to wait decades to schedule an appointment. if you put your foot down at the dmv, expect to wait another month to retest. opposed to msf which takes off 5 points (you get -21 and you fail the msf course but they give you a 2nd try)

  • I took that test at that very same DMV (Hillcrest) in 1992, on a Shadow VLX 600, which is a long bike. I had been riding for years, and could barely do it. The test is ridiculous -- it requires you to do things you never have to do on a bike in real life. I never took a riding class. I'd recommend it.

  • hi i am about to sign up for the msf course in los angeles, ca, i passed the wirtten exam at the dmv. I have never have riden a bike, but know where every things is located. would the brc course teach me everything i need to know and the also the skill waiver so i can get the license?

  • yeah take the class... if you take the class, after you pass it, you dont have to take the skills test at DMV... so its a win win. u get to learn from some good instructors, safe environment, and best of all, youre right you just take the waiver to the DMV and bam.. M1 license! do it!

  • well, only your front wheel has to stay in the lines when you do the circle

  • r6 mad u look bad i tryed it and its funny cuz it takes me a while its been a long time since i did this

  • This makes me want to go to my local DMV and try this out again, it's been 20 years.

If you are a new rider, please take the MSF course. You'll learn some good stuff.

  • Passed it without a scratch 4 months ago with a suzuki gs500e. Fun test!

  • props..cuz it aint easy!

  • LOL! That is why i took the MSF riding course. Hehehehehe. That thing is impossible. LOL!

  • course is more expensive, if you know what your doing the dmv test is hella faster and easy

  • AHAHa Love the music!

  • can u help me plz can i get a motocycle insured and put in my name with only a permit im 17 plz help i live in california msg me plz

  • I just messaged you

  • LMAO ahaha I remember when I first tried doin that I did the same thing. Try to go a lil faster and don't lean in on the circle aha but nice video :)

  • Try counter-balancing

  • Bellflower DMV-the lines on the circle test are wider than other DMV locations. I thought the would all be the same. I have a video of my uncle practicing on a sunday afternoon.

  • fail

  • no lie... its killer. lol i went back a few days ago tried it some more, made it all the way around the circle this time, only went barely outside the line once, so gettin better! =)

  • lol thats good need to do it my self

  • could you take the test with a scooter instead of a motorcycle and i dont have a class c license yet instead could i get the m1or m2 class license without a class c license

  • I believe yes, you can, if you're applying for the M2 --which is for scooter class. you basically have to test on whatever vehicle you are applying for. But double check online to be sure.

  • nice R6 i got one too lol ever go on the r6 forum?

  • wheres this at? i wanna try ahha by the way msf lesson 1 dont look down lol...

  • san diego, ca... DMV on Normal Street! good stuff!

  • Do i have to take both the car and the motorcycle written tests to get a permit to ride?

  • I think if you have a valid Class C (car) license, then you only have to take the motorcycle written (and motorcycle driving test, if you don't take the MSF class); but if you don't have a Class C license or it is nearing expiration (I believe...), then you have to take both written tests (and the motorcycle driving test, if no MSF class)... but the good news is you then have a full 4 years on both before having to renew

  • Head and eyes up!

  • Yeah man good luck with that man ! it's such a bitch but i'm glad they make it difficult to ride.Makes it more of a classy of a license.Dude what dmv is that ??? was this footage from the test or just practice ???

  • San Diego DMV, on Normal Street. And we are both licensed already (thanks MSF!), we just wanted to see if we could, so went afterhours and tried it...

  • Good stuff man. They have that test locked up at my dmv in LA it would be cool if they had it open to the public.Good stuff man. do you have any videos of the palomar mountains ???

  • no kidding that sux that they lock it up! yea i have a vid of me tryin out palomar mtn... look in my videos..

  • Been there, failed that...thank god for the MSF!

  • Word!! we're gonna go back though and keep tryin it until one of us gets it... put some money on it. lol

  • That music is the shit man ! That fucking test is a bitch. I took that msf course and didn't have to take that test.

But i was practicing it on my 05 r6 i'm like 5'6 the body position is everything all you have to do is slide half of your ass cheek to the opposite side of the turn and it keeps it balance.

  • No lie.. it kicked both our butts. But we're gonna go back keep trying til we get it!

  • I could never do that test on my gixxer..

so what i did is i rented a yamaha 250don't not remember the bike name.

the only way i could passed the damn thing..lol

  • for sure.. .i hear a lot of people do that... a lil 250 the best bike for sure!

  • Yeah screw that freaken thing

  • O yeah... it is a royal "B".!!

First part you go thru the Serpentine then into the Circle.. and not just once

thru, but 2x thru the circle, then come back out into the Serpentine! That's

crazy hard. Then reverse do it backwards!

And that's just one of the 4 or 5 parts of the test!

Couldn't make it thru without putting a foot down .. = Fail!

I imagine it's harder too when you have a Proctor standing right over you!

  • lmao !!! music was perfect . I am going to have to try this myself hehe :)
