If you want to find love, don't blind date number one. In all honesty, blind dates aren't only stupid but, you can save every penny. I would say to have friendships and get to know people without having to do the whole "oh I just dated you without knowing you scene". Do not do online dating to meet up on blind dates. Go to your local community's gay friendly places and or lgbt places and meet friends there.

I'm a pretty intellectual/academic person, so this seems a reasonable expectation to me, although I know there are probably a few exceptions... just haven't noticed any yet.
@Aprinsa But don't you think that someone might be adapting to allow others to feel they might not be intellectually intimidating, if they've written their profile out in a such an 'informal' manner, rather than apply 100% correct grammar and punctuation?
I think that can be intimidating to some, especially if they haven't been taught English as their primary language, or they have some other reason to not type to your standards, that you might not be considering.
@Aprinsa I usually at least send them a message asking something and breaking the ice, just to see the response, in order to get a slightly better measure of the person than the 'type' they might be coming across as.

I think that you should only allow a small amount of baggage. For example think about his: if you were living with the girl and you really love her and love coming home to her would the baggage turn into something you find cute or would the things bother you?
I hate when a girl tries to say "I love you" too soon. Or tries to get very serious very early in the relationship. You really like them and things are going well, then all of a sudden you feel trapped.
