disagree... they are all equally good and important on their instruments... you couldnt have a guitarist other than adam jones in that band because he understands that his role is moslty rythm and rhyme. Its like the guitarist keeps beat while the drummer makes melody. Tool has a backwards way of making songs, which is one of the reasons they are so unique. Maynards singing and songwriting are amazing and original. The bassist is also wonderful, and the drummer... is the shit, no doubt.

The order talent wise in that band goes

1: Danny

2: Justin

3: Maynard (cause his lyrics are very good, most 'writers' in bands write about shit that doesn't make any sense half of the time)

4: Then Adam Jones: (who only figured out how to keep up w/ the other 2 players because Carey taught him about poly rhythms & odd timing. His style is very basic & not hard to reproduce.

Try doing what Justin or Danney does. They are a talented band. One of the top 5 out there.

And he wrote Lateralus with uses the Fibonacci sequence, both the guitar and lyrics are in that sequence the drums are not. He has contributed more to tool than any of the other members, whether its art, songs, riffs.Theres no denying that his tone is the signature sound of tool. Yeah I was kinda dabbling as a musician before that but that song sucked me in and then that whole album pretty much sealed the deal for me. I had never before and have never since heard music like that and Danny is such a huge part of why Tool sounds the way they do. It would be amazing if someday I could change someone's life the way they changed mine.
