  • The American example of the Hollies is the Turtles. Absolutely taken for granted and not properly promoted. Both groups were absolutely fanttstic.

  • So much talent,So much non-respect for their talents,Sad but that is promotion and poiitics at its very best.THE HOLLIES KICKED ASS,plain and simple...

  • I saw them live, in 1968 they were amazing!! real music, no gimmics, long live the 60's

  • I met Allan and Tony in Melbourne Australia many years ago - great guys and very talented

  • @debiedog1 : You live in Melbourne do you ? Hey. I am old enough to remember going to parties - nice ones - where we guys dressed like these guys. Hey hey !

  • Best track by one of the best groups from that period. Alan Clarke had a fantastic, voice, their harmonising was just out of this world, instruments were so sharp. They were just perfect. They stuck to 3 minute pop songs for too long I think and didn't move on really. I think that's why Graham Nash left. But still classic stuff from a period when there was huge competition. Listen them all the time in my car.

  • Why is Carrie Anne the song they're remembered for? This one is worlds nicer.

  • I think they deserved more accolades than what they got! I love their music, and think that their harmonies are unrivaled!!!!!

  • This was the Hollies best song in my opinion. This video omits the great beginning.

  • About the same time The Hollies were making it big with this song, The Seekers had their share of success with A World of Our Own. These two songs will forever be etched in my mind. The Hollies and The Seekers were fantastic! (Of course there were others in the 60's)

  • i am obsessed with tony and his style of playing,i would so luv him to sign my guitars, along with many other millions of people no doubt,oh well better join the queue hadn't i :(

  • Where did you get this footage? Without Youtube all this stuff would never ever see the light of day again. It just made my day... thanks

  • omg 0:44 0:45 * falls out of chair*

  • While all the bands of the era had some great hits, The Beatles and The Hollies were tops for me. The Beatles being the first to hit us with a new sound. The excitement they stirred with everyone, especially the girls, was truly awesome. And the Hollies? At their best, in my opinion, with Alan on lead vocals with Graham and Tony doinhg backup. I can, and do sometimes listen to them all day. What an era to have been a teen in. Great music.

  • this video make me wish I had exclusive access to Doctor Who amd his Tardus. I´d be back ther ´in a flash!´

  • I can't believe that they only had one #1 in the 60's! Criminal when you think of some of the dross back then! Brilliant video, thanks again sapphiretaurus.

  • I remember them being very highly respected - still are. They were huge. I saw them a couple of times - once being on the day when this track became No.1 (very exciting to a young teenage girl - ha ha). Psychadelia and glam rock was starting to show up in the late sixties and they were just not part of it . Stuff was coming in from the States, too - like Hendrix but the Hollies were still playing in their own style which was just no longer fashionable.

  • The most feel-good video on You Tube!!

  • jus' bwilliant

  • Hollies will be entering the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame :) Best to the Hollies and all the fans that know how great they are.

  • Did they have stratocasters in the UK then?

  • The Beatles used them on the Rubber Soul album which was recorded in October 1965. I read Mal Evans the Beatles road manager went into a shop and brought two. One each for John and George. Hope that helps you with your question?

  • TONY....ONE WORD...GREAT

  • i envy your mother. just to have seen then, in person, would have been a dream come true......THE HOLLIES....AWESOME!!

  • My mother tells me stories of Graham and Allen when they lived in Ordsall, Salford.

    They sound great!

  • I'd like to hear these stories!

  • Me too. :)

  • Stories you say? You can't just leave it like that, you know.....you'll never get away with a cliffhanger about The Hollies around here!

    C'mon....let's hear it!

  • @peterdcarter1 wow,i hale from salford too,my nana tells me tons of stories would luv to share some memories :)

  • @peterdcarter1 Just up the manny/bolton road from me then?.

  • Brilliant!

  • Love this song and Allan is just simply great!

  • tony & allan rule!

  • It's too bad this is dubbed because I'm positive the live version was outstanding.

  • I`m ``alive`` every time I see and hear Allan Clarke, if you know what I mean!!!!!

  • I certainly know what you mean!!!!!

  • mm..somehow I knew you would....;))

  • One of the most underrated voices of the early British Rock era, "The Hollies sing Holly" one of there best cd's I've ever heard.

  • at least the Hollies could sing, unlike many groups of the time. I saw them many times in Manchester at different venues including the New Century Hall.

  • Is Graham Nash playing guitar on this one?

  • Oh YES he is. graham didnt turn hippie till 1968.

  • Terrific.

  • i was at Blackburn colledge 62-65 all the locals were into the Hollies-i remember a big poster on King George Hall-comming soon-'THE HOLLIES' support the Beatles (Liverpool)

    the Hollies great band indeed

  • hey how old are you ?

  • Nice memory, eluvian...thanks for sharing it with us!

  • What a thrill it is watching this....LOVE them to BITS! :)))

  • Theve got to be the best group the uk has produced can not believe people never seem to talk about them like they do the beatles Dont think they ever made a bad record

  • 100% agree. Good comment midlandsman43.

  • they were way underrated they deserve way more respect for such talent

  • They get it! Blame their record company and other handlers for not publicizing them as they should have.

  • This song touches me so much makes me cry this great Allan and The Hollies is...

I wish something could happen and bring those years again

  • Could it get any better than this? This is just one of the best groups of all time and yet aren't in the RRHOF is baffling. Who determines who gets in and who doesn't? Haven't they ever heard this great group? We should write the RROHF and put the pressure on them to get these guys in while they are still around.

  • so sweet!!!!!

  • Oh yes, I love the way he knowingly glances at the camera at :44. Oh how I love this song.

  • I love his cheeky smiles at 0:11 and 0:44

  • Me, too! They're so precious and beautiful.

  • Man Bobby is like Keith Moon tamed down just a bit, being a lead guitarist since 1968, i would KILL to play with that guy, what harmonies, live, they met the Beatles head on, and the fab guys sat and shook thier heads, the Beatles were awsom songwriters and players, but these guys deserve big ass props for being damn good live!! I love this song!!

  • Thanks guys, too bad my spelling was not, lol.

  • Yes, they are beautiful eyes. Nothing like a gorgeous pair of wide set eyes above incredible cheekbones. Add wavy hair, an awesome voice and extraoridinary stage presense and you've got Allan Clarke.

  • I love the way you worded it!

  • spot on description!

  • Man this takes me back to 7th grade. Great song.

  • Top Stuff, great band, Bobby = best beat drummer for me.

  • I love everything about this song. Allan Clarke is amazing.

  • You've got great taste! Allan Clarke defines amazing - gorgeous, talented, and an all around nice guy. I wonder how I missed having a crush on him as a child!

  • I know. I'm wondering the same thing! He does indeed define amazing!! I concur, we have great taste!! Where are you from?? You have great taste in men and music.

  • Thanks, georgiegirl! Smart minds think alike! I'm from New Jersey, USA. Whereabouts are you?

  • From Cleveland, Ohio, but now living in Knoxville, Tennessee.

  • Great songs. Great band. Just gone back in time 40 years......

  • great song Vrinda--love em, keep it coming-all the best-simon

  • Thanks, Simon!

  • 00:44 what a moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I see what you mean. Good Gawd, those eyes!

  • Those are the most beautiful eyes in music!

  • I totally agree!!!!!

  • Some how this makes me think of vitamins!

  • Me, too! The Hollies are much better energy-providers than any vitamin!
