  • Great cellist. Sound like velvet. Just beautiful.

  • this is amazing. he makes the cello sing

  • 2dn movement?

  • Very nice. I play this piece, though not nearly this well, but it's neat to see your interpretation.

  • Very fine playing.

  • GREAT PERFOMANCE !!

  • wow!

  • Absolutely stunning interpretation. Perhaps the best I've seen. He will certainly be a memorable star of the current generation.

  • Wow !!!

  • 13 Moron Peoples who Dislike this just wanna see Justin Bieber...

  • OMG!! This is one of the best version I ever heard! Congratulatios! You are amazing!

  • if Beethoven composed this piece it would get millions of views.

    so underrated..

  • @MrChopiano yeah it's underrated for sure, and this fantastic scandinavian cellist deserves more views.

  • Bravo indeed,

    its so beautiful XD

  • ive always hated when big guys make the cello look so small when it looks like its taking over my body when i play.

  • Vraiment , excellent violoncelliste .

  • finally a sensitive cellist

  • I'm working on this piece right now, and I can't stop listening to Brantelid's interpretation! He's got such a beautiful, lush sound and you can tell he's really into the music - so amazing!!! Thank you for posting this video! :)

  • I think the breath sounds are mainly an issue with very sensitive mics and/or some eqalization that could be done to roll off the high end. You can see how close the mics are to him. Gotta love to the YouTubers who cast hate on the video for it.... I bet few of them could even follow along with the music to this one, much less play it!

he is playing very good but, breathig sound...makes me really BAD!

  • Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He is my heroe...

  • You Are a verygood !!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Très beau, merci !

  • My favorite! Yo-Yo Ma has a wonderful interpretation too, but I think this kid just completely nails it. So lovely.

  • You play this like an angel.

  • Bravo...bravo I find this video TOO MUCH BEAUTIFUL from 0:00 to 8:38....

  • Fantastic

  • His cello looks really small....im sure its a wonderful cello though. It sounds so beautiful!!!!

  • @makuletboy it's a Arpeggione. Similar to a cello but it's tuned like a guitar and has 6 strings. I believe.. though someone correct me If I am wrong.

  • no. it may have been originally written for arpeggione but this is definitely a cellist playing a cello in a cello competition. haha

  • @HLcalculus Ah yes, my bad sorry.

Anyway, I just came home from the EYM competition, didnt make it to the finals, but as i came home I found this piece, youtube'd it and this recording convinced me that I was going to be playing this.

    //Mattias Hanskov

  • Very virtuoso indeed.Like young Feuerman

  • I love the opening....so mysterious and beautiful at the same time.

  • Beautiful is an understatement. I love that piece.

  • É absolutamente incrivel!!

  • Great playing, poor mic placement.

  • When I let my grand-son who has also uploaded this Arpeggione here watch your performance, he was really amaged by your fantastic performance and was I.

    You are a great cellist.

He has learned a good lesson from you.

    Thank you for your uploading!

  • The best! with Yo Yo Ma and János Sarker

Danke!

  • He's so amazing!!

  • Steigender Stern. Fantastisch!!

  • keep breathing... keep playing or I die :)

  • breathtaking! so carefully prepared! bravo!

  • andreas, do you want to marry me?? i'm a great violinist.. we could get a duo! ahah

  • It is definitely a proven fact that female violinists are attracted to male cellists. Such as me :)

  • @violin12395 you are absolutely right!! but..... only to the handsome one :):)

  • great cellist!!! great cello!!!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Bravo indeed!

Breathe all you like young man, breath is life. Casals was a breather and a grunter, and so are most of the best cellists the world has produced.

  • @madaboutvoice I have to say, the first time I heard a recording of Casals the grunting really surprised me, negatively. But then I got over it and focused on the interpretation and performance. He was brilliant.

  • @UncleTito72 He's not technically the greatest cellist in the world. A lot of people obsess about this and therefor do not respect Casals. I'm glad you aren't one of those...

  • spectacular!! bravo...of course we all know that. such a pleasure to see such young talent.

  • Totally amazing. It sounds so much better on strings than the arrangment for flute. thanks for posting :)

  • The cellists breathing is a basic thing! You can't play without good breathing - there's no difference from winds or piano or any other instrument.

  • Well, I love this part of all recordings - hearing performers breathing and also the sound of fingers knocking!

  • Beautiful musically and to watch. The pianist is Bengt Forsberg who deserves to be mentioned.

  • I noticed the pianist, too. I was thinking how nicely he set the mood before the cellist played a note. And then when the cellist came in his mood matched the piano so perfectly. Beautiful perfmormance by both.

  • great interpretation! brantelid does a wonderful job shaping those first three notes, and his tone is singing. i like his accompanist too...his phrasing in the beginner is wonderfully subtle and perfectly melancholy, not over-dramatic and forced as the other youtube versions seem to be.

  • Wow... what great command. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this guy.

  • i met him and the pianist both after a concert, i came to say congratulations, together him and the pianist were so damn funny.... i loved it :)

  • this is touching even though its from a competiton.

  • wonderful...

  • wow...goin to outrun yoyoma and slava....brilliant 10 yrs...he will b at his peek

  • i also LOVE his last two chords

  • this is a brilliant performance, he just needs to slow up some of the quicker runs to make them clearer.

    but musically so brilliant.

  • Great! And a great guy also!

  • eisai 8eos agori mou

  • my goooood!!

  • Thank you for posting! I've just learned about this blazing virtuoso from my friend in Sweden who is friends with Andreas' mother. I'm happy to see and hear why his career has been meteoric.

  • Bravo!

  • elsker andreas brantelid!

  • beautiful

  • Fabulous. Hope he won the gold.

  • One of the top young cellist1 P.S He´s Swedish.

  • No, he's danish.

  • sorry, i meant that he has swedish citizenship also, but he´s born in denmark.

  • fantastic :)
