How did you make the Camera follow the Cube?

How do you make the size of the plane bigger ?

@Perrinator93 either hit 'S' and drag out, or change your axis to the lines with boxes on the end and drag the boxes (scale manipulator), or in the object tab while you have it selected just increase the scale number on the desired axis.

@TheSamter the playmode  or render? you have textured view on? was it just a color or a texture/material?

@MegaLexinton Idk, if u can find out, please tell me. The older versions of blender mad it so u could play them w/o Blender (it'd have sum special file format, like "save as runtime") but they got rid of tht in 2.5x i wish they'd bring it back....sry

@MegaLexinton they took tht feature out like in 2.56 but plan to re-implement it in some version of 2.6. Once its out i'll show people.

im going to guess you save as and rename the extension from blend to exe. ill google it though

@tempviduse doesn't work like that unfortunately. unless you can create a program that will play these files outta blender your out of luck until the re implement that feature, or you could downgrade to a version that still has it i guess :S.

@coolzidedown its sanskrit, its a religious symbol tht hitler borrowed. he didn't make it. plus thts the backwards 1, the two have to diff. meanings. The sword was from an anime called Bleach. for more info check wikipedia

you can also just use foward and rotation.

If anyone else is having this problem I figured it out. Its a glitch I think. It happens often for me but just save and exit blender and restart and it should work.

Great Tutorial and easy to understand but I am having one problem. I get to the part where we map the keyboard and press p to play but all I get is a gray screen. I press escape and am able to go back to the cube. I have even tried downgrading from 2.49b to 2.48 and still same thing. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

yea if u put the camera in the camera just in front of the box you will get a true fsp camera view in reality there should be a actor when you look down you should see his feet its the same in all games just in true fps the camera view is were the actors nose is instead of behind them

yea tht works, the only downside is that the camera turns slow, so if u go around a corner it usually goes through the corner cuz it didn't turn fast enough to put itself behind the actor. still, nice job for learning something new

i cant get the camera to follow my player. It just sits in the place i set. I even went and copied the controllers and actions for the camera, and it didnt do anything. Parent error? HELP ME!

you have to select the camera, then hold shift and select the player. then press control-p and then "make parent"

these are the very basics to a game, they should work in any version, i'm sticking w/ 2.48 unti 2.5 comes out so for that i can't say form experience but i'll test it again.

Hey man great Vid! helped me a lot, i got everything working but i have an extremely wierd problem of my own. I guess i did something wierd i do not know what (cant undo enough to fix it) but my cameras are lost. yeah wierd right? everytime i add a knew one, its right where the lost one is, idk how to explain this good, but is there a way to reset them back to the middle again? i cant do anything without them.

did u select them in the right order to parent? if not then just make a controller, sensor, and actuator. Then connect them w/ the 1st one on always, and the third on camera mode. then just adjust the camera mode settings to how u want it. tho if u want it right behind him (i prefer) then just parent it, but make sure ur doing it in the right order.
