  • what's the ratio???

  • cool that was cool

  • Sugar + potassium permanganate = fire

  • If you've got some potassium permanganate handy, try the following:

    1. Get a glass jar and put a bit of gasoline inside

    2. Turn the jar so that the inside is coated in gas

    3. Add a small bit of potassium permanganate

    4. Run like hell!

Apparently, this is as explosive as 1/2 stick of dynamite. Why?

    Because:

P.P is a strong oxidizer. When it comes in contact with gas (oxidizable) it creates a highly explosive manganese(VII) oxide.

    Have fun!

  • This is a really bad idea...

  • no it make's mangnese heptoxide 8)

  • Oops, yeah your right. It creates manganese VII oxide when you mix it with concentrated sulfuric acid.

Anyways, still not something you'd want to do in the kitchen.

  • lol

  • but...have you ever tried??

    i had heard about it.

    but how much unstable is??

  • Pretty unstable. Basically, as soon as you put in the PP, close it, chuck it, and run as fast as you possibly can.

    OR:

If you can get those tiny little styrofoam boxes (theyre about the size of a ring box), put the pp in that and add a bit more gas than before.

They gas will dissolve the styrofoam

  • lol thanxs =)

  • where u get the potassium permanganate ?

  • where all good pyromanic's get their supplies................EBay! Lol

  • lol that is true

  • Good thing I saw this before I tried it... I thought it would work to make purple flames but evidently the oxidising nature of the KMnO4 takes precident over its colour making properties making the reaction more violent and less colourful... :( Interesting idea that could be used in future though...

  • Nice fuse, what you make it with?

  • I had actually run out of fuse here just used a gas soldering iron with a blow torch attachment, the soldering iron is an antex gascat 60

  • btw wat is the "flaming water"??? dats kinda interesting

  • that was cool. it was like flaming water. but not much of a smoke bomb :(. nice work tho
