  • Lol, correction, you can also eat the seeds of the durian too, if they are big enough, but be prepared for some major flatulence :-)

  • u cut the durian wrong bro

  • @TheRealVW Yeah he should have split it up at the ends....! he chopped it across instead.! LOL so funny when he scooped it up by spoon...!

  • Hah Andrew zimmerman mr bizzare foods couldnt even handle durian

  • even-though you're a world class chef, sometime you can look like a jackass

  • MY GAWD!!!! he should just ASK locals to teach him how to open the durian! i thought it was a hoax when i saw photos of durian cut in half with a knife.

  • 6:39 he kill the durian.... -.-'

  • 0.08 thats what happen when foreigner meet durians. Epic way of cutting the Durians!

  • WHY are there snippets of Seoul in the Indonesia episode? Korean Air, Incheon International Airport, and even street signs in Korean??! Come on travel channel, you should be able to tell the difference by now. :P

  • 3:27 'dat ass!

  • you don't eat durian like this! noob!

  • This isn't the way to open up a durian!

  • Listen... keep listening... it's like a dream... only better.

  • WTF, that bus was from Seoul South Korea! , So were those signs! They don't even have Durian there!

  • is the guide a mestiza or mixed person? She doesn't look local. Maybe Chinese or happa?

  • Zimmern is too Euro centric. Even the title "bizarre food" for his show is pretty lame. I like Tony's take on different cultures, which is for the most philosophical acceptance.

  • @Microglia1 I agree even though I like bizarre foods.

  • OMG he cut it so funny!!

  • The girl at 3:40 has a luscious, big butt.

  • @krnpowr yeah that girl got big ol b00ty

  • geeezzz...he ate a whole durian?!?!

  • ohhhhh i just love this guy!!!

  • kampung sampireun! it was an amazing :)

  • oh my gosh, this is my town Garut!

so if you wanna know about garut, feel free to ask me about Garut :)

  • F*** the International House of Pancakes.

    Good call, Tony.=)

  • @arapsasuga actually it is SAM-PEE-REUN, because it is written Sampireun. In Bahasa, the vowel of 'eu' is not common, with e and u becomes one sound. but in sundanese, it is common. I learned.

  • I know that place in 1:05, Kampung Sampireun, Garut - West Java.... The city of garut is used to be known as Suisse van Java

  • hahaha..eat durian with spoon...but hail to the king of fruit..DURIAN/(durio zibethinus)

  • OMG stfu people! He liked it, that's all that matters. He's not Indonesian, he wasn't familiar with Durian. So the hell what he opened it wrong!.....I'm sure by the next time he eats one he will be shown the proper way. So he didn't show the region you were from.....big deal get over it. Shows have time limits, they showed the most of the best of what they could.....

  • Does anybody know what the song is at about 3:06 when he starts talking about the candy?

  • its SUM-PEE-RUN not SUM-PEE-RE-UN.... lol i love you anthony

  • u cut it wrong..not like that...! durian is one of my fave fruit in indonesia..i love durian !

  • Durian actually tastes pretty good; has a custard, creamy taste to it. I don't know why Andrew Zimmern couldn't eat it but ate worms and larvae, not to mention stuff I wouldn't even touch let alone eat..

  • omg I love duriannn

too bad he cut it the wrong way!

  • wasnt it taste bitter when u cut the seed through? rasanya pahit kan? kok 'awesome' ya?

  • Where in Indonesia was he?

  • @TimmyTimmyS garut, west java

  • That's the wrong way to cut durian, Tony. If you cut the seed, the meat will get bitter, or so I was told.

  • lol even andrew zimmern can't handle this

  • he cuts the durian wrong

  • 'OH- Pancakeman! Pancakes, Pancakes! :D Haha, I love it. ''And, were any BOATS involved? NO!''

Except that he keeps referring to the pancake man, but the person making and serving the pancakes was actually a woman :/ Man driving the boat hardly counts as a pancake man. Still funny, though :)

  • That durian is too small, IMO. He needs to get Medan durians

  • Dodol comes with so many taste .... Dodol comes with durian taste also

  • F*ck The International House Of Pancake ..... Eat & enjoy "Serabis" maaan .

  • I like the way he enjoys Durian.

But he open it the wrong way.

    LOL!

    =aikn=

  • are there any Indonesians here that can help me live in Indonesia? Im an American Muslim living in Egypt with my wife and we want to move to Indonesia insha'Allah.

  • @LIVfor1 you can ask the Indonesia embassy in Egypt :)

  • @LIVfor1

better u take a tour here first and look on various places on ur own so u'll get it right

  • Lol tony so much for ur excitement "pancakes! pancakes!" they only gave u one :-(

  • hahah fuck the international house of pancakes

  • lol @ Gary saying a scene that reminiscent to New Jack City

  • He cut the durian the wrong way...

  • bitchass Andrew Zimmerman couldnt even eat durian

  • Ahh durian rules! It's a trade between a heavenly velvety fruit and a superdragon evil breath.. ah what a dillemma

  • I like how this guy always tries everything. he doesnt go half way. he goes all the way.

  • "Fuck the international house of pancakes" hahahahahah

  • OMG Duriannnnnnnn i love tht fruit

  • lol IBOP

  • if i can suggest u, it's better u not only show Balinese and Javanese culture only, Indonesia has 740 etnics and 750 languages who live in 17.500 islands.they cultures are just great like Aceh, Batak, Minang, Melayu, Bugis, Banjar, ambon, Papua and soon. but anyway thank u.

  • I'm glad you like durian Anthony, I'd marry you :)

  • Durian tastes like rotton potatoes mixed with armpit.

  • hahahaha he dont really know how to open durian lol

  • LOL. The way he eats durians is so freaking hilarious. Someone please introduce to the man a more delicious and neater way of eating it.

    I don't like dodol either.

  • It is an acquired taste.

  • Should have asked the hotel staff to cut open the durian. That is no proper way to eat duren.

  • Andrew Zimmerman couldn't even taste durian without choking, I give Bourdain a lot of credit for being able to eat and even like it.

  • Lol at the way he cut the durian open and eat it with spoon

  • "F*** the international house of pancakes."

    I lol'd.

  • tony don't knock urself!! HAHAHA u looked good dancing...P.S= they don bet at ram fights????? yeah right!! that is awesome i could soo see myself there with dat luscious food spread!! ant ram action! much better than cock fighting...........maybe

  • wow what a pro!

  • si indonesia is great

  • Zimmern is often afraid of the food he eats. You can tell by how he pops food into his mouth and quickly swallows with savouring them

  • Thats not how you open and eat a durian lol.

  • I like durian but I don't like dodol!

  • hahaha, hail Tony!

    i love his show!

  • dodol!!!! my love!!!!how i miss it!!!

  • pancakes man. yeahhh. man the serabi looks so delicious

  • Durians are awesome. I like the ones with pale, almost white flesh that are sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

  • They have durian here in Tempe, Arizona, in the Asian Food Market.

  • I would love to try durian just once. I wish I had an adventurous friend who likes to do different things. All they like to do is drink and go nightclubbing.

  • @draconian45 thats why you wait till they are drunk and pull out the durian from the frig ;)

  • LOL it's serabi not sorabek

  • i love durian..so creamy taste ..we also make it as a ice cream flavor in philippines and also a candy

  • durian is the national fruit of many asian or asean countries .

    from thailand , malaysia , singapore , indonesia , vietnam , laos , myanmmar , philippines ,

it is very creamy and yes they do have high grade organic high quality durians that are normally grown in special orchards.

  • he cut it wrong.. if you cut durians in the right way, you'll get better shape of the fruit :D

  • come to Medan, you will eat Durian all years, not in durian season. Or I can say All years Durian season.

  • @tsumetai89 omg, I want it, I miss the squishy sweet feeling D:

  • the smell like you're french-kissing ur dead grandmother...what an EPIC joke!!hahaha

  • who eats durian like that!!!! so messy!!! Anthony Bourdain, you may like it but you need a lesson in how to open and eat durian.

  • @jennaiel88 damn right !

  • Anthony = the best

  • I hope Zimmern comes here too. I love MY COUNTRY!!!!!!!

  • the new jack city reference was hilarous

  • When it comes to the comparisons between Bourdain and Zimmern, I really don't think people should focus on who's more bold or whatever. How Bourdain enjoys durian and Zimmern doesn't is not really a taste issue...it's more about how Bourdain is the genuine "foodie" (IMO). He seems to appreciate quality and the freshness of ingredients and dishes. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy watching Bizarre Foods...but I can't help but trust Anthony Bourdain's opinions on food more than Zimmern's.

  • @Mynah21 I can't stand Zimmerman's show. It's all about him eating what the rest of us wouldn't, and, the idea came from Bourdain's adventurous eating/travelling anyway. It's a cynical TV company idea that shamelessly takes an element from another show and tries to capitalize on it. Screw Zimmerman and screw that moron Booby Chin too!

  • @Mynah21 It may be an opinion but I have to say your wrong, Andrew Zimmern before his show was an award winning chef and restaurant consultant; where as Tony was at his peak the Executive Chef of a 2 star Zagat's restaurant, I would trust the palate of Andrew. At times Anthony does like to buck the curve and probably revels in a food so generally hated.

  • @PoiPoi5189 I guess we have to agree to disagree then. After having viewed every single No Reservations and Bizarre Foods eps, it's clear that Zimmern is often disgusted with the natural texture and taste of certain foods itself (like soft Asian fruits, extra "fishy" foods, and so on), yet whenever Bourdain is disgusted with food, it's about the quality of the dish (how it was cooked or whatnot). The only exception was when Tony disliked fertilized duck egg. Oh well.

  • Anthony eats durian but Andrew Zimmerman cant stand it

  • I'm really amuse by the way Tony splits his durian. Really refreshing way, except all the seeds were cut into half.

Gonna cut a opening on the top and slowly pry it open.

  • @simb1 Tony is treating that durian as if it were a melon or something... he might not know it has built-in seams!

  • @simb1 Yup! you're right! There's the right way in cutting durian though.

  • WTF Bourdain eats durian and Zimmerman won't.

  • my dream is live in indonesia and in philippines!

  • I guess I do have the life. Grew up and lived in the Philippines and have lived the last 12+ years in Indonesia ( java and Bali). Thanks for reminding me how blessed I am!

  • go the "IBOP"!!!!

  • How much is that hotel in the pond? I need to live there. lol

  • @halfacig about $200 dollar per night dear, meals included, try google kampung sampireun

  • durian and kretek are most delicious than caviar combined with dom perignon !!

  • welcome to my country tony, :D. I love the fact that you like indonesia :D.

oh and yeah, I also dont like dodol. except dodol duren (durian dodol), thats not so bad cuz I also love durian :D

  • That girl showing Anthony around the dodol place has a big ass, lol.

    Pretty fine.

  • I like both, dodl adn durian, need to go to Indonesia one of those days, I guess...

  • Why is the show showing random clips of South Korea? I saw a random clip of Korean Air in the last video.

  • "ohh pan cake man"

  • I'm Indonesian and I hate dodol, too. Tony rocks coz he likes durian :D

  • he shouldve tried the "Picnic" brand dodol, i think its better than other brands

  • dodol garut

  • Dude, Tony, that's not how you cut a durian! :)

  • "Anthony Bourdain in Indonesia, Largest Muslim Nation in the world! "

Indonesia isn't the largest muslim nation in the world, it is a country with most muslims living in.

This pancake is serabi, isn't it?

  • Yes, this is a total mistake, Indonesia is a Republic, not a moslem nation. But yes has the largest moslem population.

And yes again, that pancake is Serabi, there are several style of serabi, this is the Java-Sunda style. The Solo has a distinct shape, a crispy edge and innate sweet coconut milk base ingredient, so there is not a coconut milk and palm sugar topping, also some fruit may be added inside. This style is called as Serabi Solo Notosuman :D :D

  • @tomaculum123 now try wikipedia dear, it is, larger than arabs

  • Dodol, serabi...hu..hu... I miss these food!

  • i remember growing up in the philippines, i still avoid durian like plague.

  • wahhhh!!! serabi!!

  • You suppose to cut off one end and rip it open where u can remove the meat perfectly.
