  • don't forget the 13th sign: ophiuchus

  • THESE ARE THE RULE OF KINGS! each king rules for that amount of time...thats all zodiacs were in the past ages of kingly rule on earth.

  • I love people who believe in "signs" like this. from our perspective, they are a 2 dimensional drawing in space, that some how determines who we are and where we will go. from planet alignments to birth stones, its all bullshit. Why? if you were to move off our orbit slightly, the perspective changes and they disappear. That light has been traveling for maybe, thousands, hundreds or millions of years. Their gravities wouldn't even affect us. Assuming the universe cares about you, is dumb.

  • @ProphetJephri

You're 90% right. BUT, if you took a spacecraft to Alpha Centauri, the constellations we see (the bright stars making the arbitrary patterns) wouldn't change all that much. This is because most stars are SO far away.

But yes, the idea that stars and planets are beaming specific forces at us to change our DNA and brain chemistry is not supported by observation. Moreover--it's ridiculous!

  • I think mediums are really mind readers but don't know it. They hack into your brain's computer where all the information is stored, just like hackers do into computers, maybe

    a kind of telepathy.

A magnet sends out invisible rays, targets a paper clip and pulls it in.

Clairvoyants 'see' distant things, and have visions that travel invisibly from the object to their brain.

If you disagree, fuck you, buy a magnet and meditate.

  • @Z1Z12 I really really reallllyyy hope you're a troll. lol. Lemme guess, you like ICP right?

I would love to teach you how a magnet works. It's not magic.

And no, mediums are not mind readers. Ask any mentalist how its done. A bit of suggestion, human nature, math and being a wee bit more logical than your subject.

so ya I disagree, fuck you too buddy.

  • @ProphetJephri YOUR KARMA AWAITS AND IT IS NOT REVERSIBLE.

  • @Z1Z12

If you were a Christian fundamentalist, you'd tell people they're going to hell. No difference.

  • @Z1Z12

The human brain puts out about 1/4 watt of electrical power. That's 160 times weaker than an average light bulb.

You claim a result; now you have to show how brains broadcast energy that no instrument can pick up--instruments that are far more sensitive than human senses.

Same goes for astrology. Show us these alleged forces coming from planets that alter our bodies.

  • After I met Prof, Eynsenke, he kindly stayed in touch with me for THREE YEARS, sending me copies of his research into paranormal subjects which he thought might interest me, he didn't have to do that, wasn't that nice of him? but then, like me, he was a nice Piscian and never once did he show any skeptism towards me or astrology, probably because I correctly told him the birth signs of 8 of his assistants. I mistook him for a Sagittarian, because of his Jupiter link ! I'm a happy medium. Byebye

  • MadHighway thirsts for the blood of the ignorant!

  • @pinkside2121

Nah, I just want some explanations from astrologers in the same way a physicist explained to me how radio waves work. The astrologers tarry yet.

  • Astrology zodiac: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Aquarius, Pisces.

  • @MadHighway amazing

  • Comment removed

  • @pinkside2121 But if you were to believe I was, I'd take that.

  • @pinkside2121 Of course not. No astrologer would say such a thing.

  • @RamaraB Why? A little to outlandish to take on faith?

  • @pinkside2121 I would be elated! :) I've never heard an astrologer say that to anyone. That would be a first! I'd enjoy it thoroughly!

  • @RamaraB So you would believe it without question if someone claiming to be an astrologer told you that you were an all-powerful superbeing that exists outside of space and time? Just clarifying.

  • @pinkside2121 It boils down to personal experience. What feels and sounds right to one person may not be right for another.

  • @RamaraB What if your astrologer told you you were god?

  • @pinkside2121 I'm not sure exactly how to answer you sweetie. You know the saying "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound?" This is sort of like that. There are things that cannot be explained using just science. Explain why acupuncture works using science? Explain why when you think of someone, who you haven't thought of in years, they call you one day out of the blue, using science? Explain why some people are telepathic and others not, using science?

  • @RamaraB

"Explain why some people are telepathic and others not, using science?" No evidence for telepathy.

"Explain why when you think of someone ... " Coincidence, similar thoughts

  • @pinkside2121 no one is forcing you to try it sweetheart.

  • @RamaraB I understand that. I am merely pointing out that astrology has no basis in fact, and is merely an illusion that generates profit, not predictions. Your statement about one form being better at prediction than the other is not dissimilar to saying one magician's method is more efficient at conjuring gold coins than another's: neither actually conjure gold.

  • @RamaraB

But we're forcing you to provide evidence and proof that the planets run our lives for us.

  • @pinkside2121 first time and was blown away with how accurate it was. The astrologer I saw gave me information about stuff that happened in my past (that he would have never known about) along with things to take into consideration about the future... mostly physical health issues. I thought it was fascinating and for those who are a little curious it's worth a go.

  • The fact that it has been around for 5,000 years proves nothing except the ease with which some people are fooled. If anything, the fact that in those 5,000 years we have yet to find a credible correlation between the zodiac and earthly occurrences makes one all the more ignorant for believing it. /watch?v=3Dp2Zqk8vHw

  • The illusion of knowledge should not be confused with actual knowledge. Knowledge is power, and the illusion of absolute knowledge has been used for 5,000 years to swindle kings and commoners.

  • @pinkside2121 I think science is a great for many things, but so is astrology. I think the fact that it's been around for over 5,000 years and that people continue to be interested and curious about it says something about it's ability to act as a tool of guidance. Astrology isn't meant for everyone, but for those of us who are able to accept that it is just a tool, and that that the information that comes from a reading can be really impressive. I've recently had a vedic reading done for the

  • @RamaraB said "I think the fact that it's been around for over 5,000 years and that people continue to be interested and curious about it says something about it's ability to act as a tool of guidance."

The fact that astrology fails to explain how distant planets and stars allegedly shove around the human body's atoms does nothing to support its claim.

Explain your force spewing from planets that makes people do stuff.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 nope to what? Please explain.

  • @RamaraB If it was even mildly good at predicting anything, why then at this point in human history would it not have been turned into something useful? If it worked do you really think it would not have been developed into a science by now? Or is science just a bad thing conspiring to debunk your personal belief for the lulz of it? Rather, you should enlighten with evidence as to why some form of astrology is more proficient than another at predicting events, or why or how it is able to at all.

  • @RamaraB Nope to Vedic house system being correct. You see, Astrological Zodiac signs aren't determined by the Constellations, but more on the elements. Vedic astrology isn't correct.

  • LOL i love bill nye, he was my favorite scientist when i was a kid. bill nye ftw

  • There is a difference between western and Vedic astrology (which is an older form of it.) Vedic is actually better at predicting events and takes into consideration the wobble of the earth.

  • @RamaraB Nope.

  • @RamaraB

    "wobble of the earth"--which is?

  • @JCIMism

So astrologers use the positions of the planets in the sky, but don't care about the sky part, even though the planets are measured from their positions in the sky and astrolgers say "Mars is in Leo."

    You just issued a contradiction.

  • Comment removed

  • Its so hard to explain astronomy to the idiots I work with. Its even harder to explain that they arent really leos scorpios virgos what have you lol

  • @lancislucid and its so hard to explain to them that its just horse shit.

  • @lancislucid Now some facts. Constellations are imaginary. Constellations don't play a role in astrology, Zodiac Signs do. Zodiac Signs are just named upon some of the constellations. There can be only 12 Zodiac signs due to the fact that Zodiac is based upon four elements and trinities of those elements, making a total of 12 partitions of a full circle of 360 degrees, having 12 signs (not constellations) and each having 30 degrees. Bill Nye just proved that he doesn't know astrology.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 Exactly.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3

The zodiac signs match exactly the constellation names. You just proved yourself wrong.

  • "[...] am I a fun loving Sagittarus or a sexy Scorpio?"

    Yes, yes you are.

  • Bill is definitely a sexy scorpio

  • I didnt need Bill Nye to pwn astrology

  • I think it's alright to sorta look at personality types and see how PEOPLE interact. But saying a person is always in the same category because of a birth date is silly.

  • To assume your star sign has any bearing in your personality is ludicrous. That doesn't mean that the observation of the stars is invalid. There is quite a bit of history regarding astrology outside of my self, for example, being a fair and balanced to the point of neurotic libra. Although I quite identify with those traits. They're just vague coincidences. Even so, they're not coincidences to be quickly dismissed. Just approached logically (and skeptically)

  • 1:12 I don't care about the rest of the video one bit... Bill Nye just said "Sexy Scorpio" your argument is invalid

  • What 18 people disliked the ever-so fun loving and sexy Bill Nye?!

  • At least i'm not cancer anymore then -_- Thanks ancient greeks, for giving me cancer. *totally miss the point*

  • @soaponaroapDG I know right? I'm a Gemini so I'm sure my twin is out there somewhere missing me. ;p And the chinese made me into a rat; I wanna be a sex dragon damnit! rofl.

  • how the hell is this still a question, its been debunked hundreds if not thousands of times

  • He's definitely both fun loving and sexy; that's a really hard question, lol.

  • Astronomy is my astrology! If I read a report from the hubble telescope that there is a black hole right next to earth, only then I will believe that I will have a bad day according to the stars..

  • Hmm.. his diagram is wrong. The zodiac should be positioned on the ecliptic.

  • Oh... and also there are actually 13 Zodiacal constellations. The Ecliptic (i.e. perceived path of the sun) goes through Ophiuchus too, (between Sagittarius & Scorpio)... I wonder how many Astrologers have even heard of it! :D

  • @RohypGnosis - You do realise arguing with an astrologer is like arguing with a christian fundamentalist? You won't win with mere facts. Give me your mailing address so I can send you a brick and you can argue with that. You'll have way more success.

  • @LiamXaoh :D How correct you are !!

  • @RohypGnosis

What these astrology junkies forget is that constellations are actually recent inventions after astronomers tidied up the old maps. Ophiuchus was given a little more space in the sky.

The Zodiac and indeed all constellations are abitrary inventions depending on isolated cultures' viewpoints.

Modern astronomy uses right ascension and declination on the sky. Constellation names are really just a convenience and a throwback to an earlier time.

  • ...I was on dating sites for years and always lied with a d.o.b. of '1st Jan'. I met >200 women. Those that brought up 'starsigns' during our 1st date invariably said to me "You are such a typical Capricorn". So I'm afraid they ended up as 'one night stands'. Oddly enough when I said my correct d.o.b. to one she said "Typical Virgo thing to do"! I laughed so much I saw her again. She was once a professional astrolger, but I soon converted her to skeptical Atheist & married her. True story!

  • When I (alas, too often!), come across those too ignorant to be able to comprehend science and reason I raise the following: I remind them the insurance (assurance) markets are highly competitive & employ tons of analysts to pour over data on every aspect of 'life'. So If there was the slightest, possible, inexplicable, hint that even occasionally a vague 'birth trait' was evident we'd soon know! The fact we don't see billboards saying "10% off for Virgos" says it all! I find this often works :D

  • ALL ASTROLOGERS KNOW THIS AND MAKE MATHEMATICAL ADJUSTMENTS IN ORDER TO BE ACCURATE.WITH THEIR PREDICTIONS.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT AND FINE EXAMPLE OF A SKEPTIC SPEAKING WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE ON A SUBJECT, ASSUMING THAT HIS NARROW MINDED OPINION IS CORRECT, IT'S CALLED PREJUDGEMENT, (PREJUDICE).

THE LATE MOTHER THERESA NEVER SPOKE ABOUT UNDERWATER ELECTRIC ARK WELDING....WHY? BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THE SUBJECT, HOW WISE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? DON'T ASSUME YOU ARE RIGHT, YOU MAY NOT BE !

  • @Z1Z121, THERE IS NO PROOF THAT ASTROLOGY WORKS. ITS ALL BARNUM STATEMENTS.

  • YOU SAY "THERE IS NO PROOF THAT ASTROLOGY WORKS"

THIS PROVES YOU HAVEN'T' REALLY STUDIED THE SUBJECT BUT ARE VOICING YOUR ASSUMPTIONS LIKE ALL THE OTHER NARROW MINDED SKEPTICS. JUST YOUR UNQUALIFIED OPINION.

IN 1979, I WAS TESTED BY THE LATE PROFESSOR HANS EYSENKE AT THE UNIV. OF LONDON. HE INTRODUCED ME TO !2 OF HIS SCIENTISTS AND CHALLENGED ME TO GUESS THEIR ZODIAC SIGNS BY APPEARANCE.

I GOT 10 RIGHT, EACH GUESS I COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG 11 TIMES.

    YOU KNOW NOTHING ! ! !

  • @Z1Z121 , OK, so your proof is that you "guessed" the star signs of a small number of people. As a skeptic i am not narrow minded, i will belive anything so long as it is supported by evidence. your anecdote is not evidence. PROVE TO ME THAT ASTROLOGY WORKS.

  • @Z1Z121 Sorry... I'm married to an ex Professional Astrolger, (n.b. I soon converted her!), and she'd never heard of the Precession of the Equinoxes, (the apparent movement that Bill is talking about!). I've just looked up several Astrology Software Programs online and none mention such an important point. So, again, I think you are talking utter nonsense! :D

  • @RohypGnosis I don't like to assume, but maybe your wife was not a very good astrologer or she would have forseen some difficulties arising apart from Mars.

  • @Z1Z121 I have some advice for you- don't assume you are right, you may not be! Now where have I heard that before....

  • @LeonhardEuler1 In 1978 that I surprised Prof. Eynsenke by correctly telling him the birth signs of 8 of his scientists. I've now had more than 34 had years of study and experience in which to make a decision about astrology, so it's unfair to suggest that I'm assuming I'm right.

I would not waste my time with the subject if my research kept proving negative.

  • I don't know about actual planet positions but the season you were born into and the first seasons you experience after, may have effects on your personality.

  • I would fuck a girl with bill nye's voice.

    Wait... No, no.

  • The ending was fucking priceless.

  • "A little bit", is probably the stupidest and certainly most inconsistent answer to that question. Is it true or is it true not? (Rhetorically - the answer is obvious)

  • FUCKING LOVE THIS!!!

  • I checked. I'm a real Saggitarius.

  • Truth. The ultimate trump card. TAKE THAT ASTROLOGY!

  • In other words, Astrology is a load of horse shit.

  • I love how he just laughs at the end in a "Poppycock!" kind of way.

  • @sploderdotcom Well Mr. Sploderdotcom, so you are a christian scientists? Your channel has you clocked in at a whopping 14 years old. And from the sound of your voice in your single video you sound pre-mature. So either you are a kid trying to imitate a scientist, or just a stupid christian. Either way, you are a lie'r to both yourself, and your species. You make me ashamed to be human.

  • @ScientificExploits How about you stop talking to me, I'll stop talking to you, and we can all forget about each other. Jesus loves you, I don't care if you believe so or not.

PS: When I said "man", I was referring to my species, not my age. "A homo sapiens of many talents" just doesn't sound right, does it?

  • @sploderdotcom Jesus is dead, how can he love someone?

  • @ScientificExploits He loves you ScientificExploits. He thinks about you every night. Every single night. Oh baby.

  • It's all a bunch of lies anyways.

  • 1.11-1.15

    Deal With It

  • he just wins

  • The best counter argument I have heard came from another non believer in Astrology ... I argued about the movement and how the signs don't line up from month to month and there are 13 signs in the belt. But he just said maybe its the time of year or position of the sun that is more important on impacting the birth of a child since the sun is closer to the earth than those stars anyways. Granted we both don't believe but it made more sense than a believer has given me.

  • My horoscope told me to watch this video.

  • I once had someone mistake astronomy for astrology when I mentioned my 10 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain. Many lives were lost that day.

  • i love this guy.

  • I'm a Sagittarius and this guy acts totally like a Sagittarius. You can claim technically we're Scorpios, but the fact is, we still act like Sagittariuses. Under this reasoning, he'd have to conclude that it is not the Zodiac that is incorrect, but rather our calendar year that is off by one month. Instead of rolling the signs back one month, how about we roll back the calendar year one month?

  • @mikeba6 I'd rather screw up the zodiac than screw up the seasons.

  • @mikeba6 So if not the stars, what effected his personality? Pixies?

  • @Mandragara Of course! In fact, BOTH stars and pixies, the same way they affected mine and yours.

  • @mikeba6 If you're serious you're a fucking idiot. Just letting you know.

  • I don't know why.. but hearing bill nye call himself sexy kills a small part of my childhood.

  • Actually Astrologers (not people who write for magazines or newspapers or what-have-you) use something called an ephemeris which corrects for that error. So it's not a problem.

  • @RelentlessInnocence Not a problem aside from astrology still being complete and utter bullshit, you mean.

  • you mean... i'm a pisces now? FUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

  • Bill Nye has the looks of a Sagittarian, but also an Aries. I checked and his moon is in Aries. By the way in 1978 Professor Eysenke challenged me to name the birth signs of 10 of his assistants. I correctly named eight of them. He told me my score was amazing with just under 1 in 10 million odds against me being correct. He explained to me you could be wrong 11 times with each person and the figures compound. Now have a nice astrological day.

  • The late WORLD FAMOUS scientist - Professor Han Eysenke (University of London), set out to denounce astrology as nonsense in 1972. however being a scientist he couldn't say something was nonsense without first testing it. He would need to understand statements like - "Having Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 2nd house.

After 5 years of study he wrote a FULL PAGE in the Evening Standard in 1977 saying he was ASTONISHED at the TRUTH he'd found in the subject.

He was MUCH more famous than Bill Nye.

  • @Z1Z121 That's some nice definitive, sourced, believable, descriptive evidence you have there. It would be a shame to realize you didn't actually prove anything there.

  • Comment removed

  • @Z1Z121 I would argue that there are many more people who know who Bill Nye is than there are who know who Han Eysenke is. I haven't tested this, but I do hypothesize that Bill Nye is, in fact, MUCH more famous than Eysenke.

  • @Z1Z121

In 1982, Hans Eysenck deemed astrology to be false. He wrote a book on it.

  • I did not know that.

    I... feel... educated!

  • OMG! This is obviously what's gone wrong with my life! I'm reading the wrong horoscope and therefore doing the wrong things all the time.

Thank you Bill for pointing us in the right direction. Who knew that astrology would need a decoder ring to work properly?

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS PWNS???

  • @MrBlazedup: pwns = owns. Y gen speak from typing too fast.

  • @LiamXaoh haha thanx bro, i thought that might be the case... then i started seeing it everywhere haha it was driving me insane

  • the earth moves in a spiral around the sun as recently discovered so we are moving through space folling the sunand our solar system is not in the same place as it was a second ago :)

  • I take astrology more along the lines of psychology than science (clearly as science disproves it), it gives people motivation and some form of guidance to their life. Whether it happens to work or not, it's still something to get the person going.

  • @Androidx17 I find it rather interesting how you equate a field like psychology which publishes real testable and repeatable studies with astrology. you also jump from saying that science disproves astrology to comparing it to astrology as though 'science' has disproven it as well

  • @AussiePolitics I'm referring it to psychology because these horoscopes act as a placebo which motivates people to act in certain ways. It's like turkey meat a fatigue, yes it contains Tryptophan but studies have taken place to prove that the levels of Tryptophan in turkey aren't high enough to have a strong enough effect on the body as people claim it to. (A placebo effect)

And I was comparing astrology to science because astrology involves the studying of stars, people mistake it for...

  • @AussiePolitics a legitimate field of scientific study.

  • I don't wanna be a Virgo! D:

  • The problem is that average joe don't know the difference between the two words. Start using another name for astrology, like "ancient lame superstition, maybe.. Nah...that would include all the major religions too, so another name would be better. : )

  • yeah cool bill. except youve fucked up you own facts. nice science. go back to kids shows.

  • look this one up an on youtube and you will see Bill doesn't know it all.

    "Pendulum Waves" video title

I think this proves that seemingly randomness can have moments of disorder as well as harmony. It's science not magic. Bill acts as if science is static and is incapable of change.

  • A fun thing to do with zodiac signs is read the description for a sign to someone that isn't actually that sign, but tell them it is theirs. They will agree with its vagueness.

  • He's definitely both fun loving and sexy lol

  • -3 Bill Nye

And lol at the butthurt astrologists.

Let's say you're right and only the names used for the constellations are the similarity between the two. That doesn't dismiss the fact that there is no such thing as a supernatural force acting upon humanity.

Also science and religion couldn't be further apart. Saying that religious people believing in god and scientists believing a theory is the same is ridiculous. One believes in an almighty higher power that always existed and they have n

  • Is this from his kids programme? I've not seen Bill Nye in literally YEARS! If he has a new programme, PLEASE let me know! =D

  • FUCK YOU I WANT TO BE A TAURUS!!! xD

  • Bill Bye never studied astrology and is talking about it trough the Astronomical approach non the less - about the imaginary constellations. For crying out loud. Anyone with slight intelligence and knowledge about astrology will know that constellations are not connected to astrology in any particular way, besides the names used. Even funnier is the story about the 13th Sign or that the signs are not in correct place. Lol at Bill Bye.

  • @c1k4ml3kc3 said "Even funnier is the story about the 13th Sign"

And there in the sky is the constellation Ophiuchus and the ecliptic passes right through it, which means the Sun, Moon, and all the planets appear to pass through it too.

Also, who named the planets Uranus, Neptune, and (dwarf) Pluto?

  • when astrology was first developed, the assumption was made that if the stars looked like they were next to each other, they were in fact close to each other and asserted their power and influence on us mortals here on earth. Later on, when astronomy showed us that even though two stars might look very close to each other, one could be closer to the Earth and the second could be millions of light years out. The stars way out there are often closer to stars in completely different constellations.

  • @yotuberous You're wrong. Astrology was never "created". Astrology and astronomy were the same up until the Church decided it's against the idle demagogy of the non-christian Catholic church. First were Sumerians, and than it's been interpreted trough the religions of Persia, Greece and finally Rome. Basically, all those mythological gods are just planets or "moving stars". Besides, constellations are not playing any particularly great role in astrology, beside name of it. Learn your facts right

  • f*ck yeah i'm no longer a virgo

  • I love the scoff at the end.

  • Why not just assume that the signs will change every so often, and correct for that?

  • if u guys like watching stuff like skeptics disproving something.. check out a guy called "Captain Disillusion" or something like that. his videos made me see the world differently.

  • i saw this at school :D

  • I can pwn astrology in a 1 second video that just reads "Idiot". (Your lucky numbers are: Arabic)

  • nether

  • Billy Nye, you are most definitely a sexy scorpio.

  • My horoscope said i was an asshole, and nobody likes me. =(

  • I think astrology is only legitimately true with regards to your actual zodiac sign, but not with regards to actual horoscopes. I have seen waaaaay too many personality "coincidences" with people and their supposed zodiac signs in order to not no longer believe in them because of this video. I am and have definitely been a Cancer my whole life, and I still attest to that even after only knowing the traits of my sign for only a year.

  • @aliG2500 If you think astrology is legitimate at all, look up "the Forer effect" and "Barnum statements".

    Astrology is pure shit.

  • Inertia is a property of matter.

  • Capiricorn looks like a pair of panties.

  • Science rules.

  • BIll, you are sexy for the love of science. Period. Another period.

  • ~Bill Nye the Science Guy~ Bill Bill Bill Bill.

  • There is some truth to astrology, but only in the fact that it influences the behaviors of the believers. Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy of a sort.

  • astrology is a load of bullshit. and i think some of you are confusing astronomy with astrology. astronomy is a respected science and has contributed to society in positive ways that we can see around us. Astrology is a mysticism thats ancient and outdated and holds no weight in scientific debate

  • This is factually wrong. Whether or not astrology is true or not is a seperate issue, but the claim that astrologers don't know about this "wobble" effect is false. Astrologers use sidereal time, and the movement of the signs through our calendar marks an age in astrology which lasts about 2200 years. Get your facts straight before you criticize something you know little about or you are no better than a creationist.

  • SHIT!

I got a scorpio tatoo when I'm a libra! lol

I only got it because it looks cool though so I'm good to go!

    Astrology is fucking nonsense!

  • love. 100%.
